Got a craving for Italian food in Berkeley, but want something nicer and way tastier than Gypsys? Pasta Bene is probably for you then. The family that runs this restaurant is always friendly, and the food they serve up is delicious and quite generous in size for the price. Whether its pizza or pasta, youre sure to get something satisfying and filling, all without breaking the bank. Each dish looks and tastes crafted with familial love and care, and everything Ive tried has been excellent. My personal favorite is the chicken marsala. They have a small selection of local beers on tap, as well as a nice wine selection, so youre sure to find an excellent pairing with your food. The atmosphere is quaint and inviting. The seating can accommodate a variety of sized groups, whether dining alone or in a party of two, four, even twelve! Theres also outdoor seating available, perfect for those warm summer nights. Like jazz? Even from outside, you can hear standards galore playing from the overhead speakers. If its not your thing, its good background for a nice restaurant setting. If it is your thing, you might find yourself toe tapping and humming along. Overall, its a nice, casual date spot!

The best lunch special on telegraph ave. This is a family owner place & very classy & clean. The food is beyond empressive (I have my A- game with pasta) it has major quality in flavor & portion.im guessing because is not mass produced & commercialized like Olive garden (O.Garden going downhill) Ive glimpsed at other peoples food as well to see presentation & what they ordered it all looks yummy

I really like to go here! Its really cheap for the quality of food that youre getting. Service is also really nice, and the atmosphere is pretty relaxed. They have a nice selection of pastas, pizzas, and sandwiches as well as a good selection of beers on tap. They also have a pretty great lunch special menu where you can get dishes for $5.99.

Food was very good but the waiters provided horrible service. The cashier said it was due to crowd, yes it was 3/4 full but all the customers sitting in my area was all given refills of water and tea, and the waiters repeatedly came to there table often. Maybe they just dont like people of color money.

I love the pasta at Pasta Bene, because they are not too oily. Light but delicious. The desserts here are also great. Close to campus. Great place to go after class and hang out. The service here is great as well -- waitresses and waiters are very nice.

Thumbs down! My wife and I ate at this restaurant several times recently. Needing a bathroom while walking, we went into the restaurant. The manager refused to let me use the restroom. Obviously, we will not be returning to this restaurant ever.
