I went here with my girlfriend for the buffet and as soon as we got in, the waitress says, "What you see is what you get.", Not a very good atmosphere so far, but whatever, if the food is good itll be worth it. I regret even trying the buffet. It looked really disgusting, but I tried it anyway. I am not a picky eater, but I choked down most of what was on my plate, payed the bill and got out of there. I was contemplating doing a dine n dash because I felt so cheated out of my money. I payed $21 and change for my girlfriend and me. I felt incredibly sick afterwords, the rest of the night, and the morning after both my girlfriend were sick. Im not sure how the take-out is, but if you dare try the buffet, dont eat the vegetables; they are a breeding ground for bacteria. Most everything under those heat lamps are lukewarm to cold. TO SUM IT ALL UP: The food is gross, and it may be advised to not eat it in due to health-safety disadvantages. This post is my vendetta. Be advised. Note: I wrote this review on yelp as well.

Chinese Pagoda has really gone downhill. Ive been coming here since I was a child and it was always good. Came here on a Friday at 7:30 PM and there was literally no one else in the restaurant the entire hour I was there. The phone rang once, thats a pretty good indicator of how bad its become. Ive never sent back a dish in my entire life but the General Tsos chicken was terrible. It was doused in a gravy? brown sauce, not spicy at all and tasted like a Banquet Microwavable meal... Worst of all the dinner buffet is gone! They always had an excellent buffet but no longer. RIP Chinese Pagoda, Wauwatosa is booming but this place will be gone in 6 months at this rate.

Visited for the first time today. I liked the cute little booths and our waitress was nice and attentive. The food, however, was very poor quality. I am not a food snob by any means, so when I say something is bad, its bad. I ordered the sesame chicken. It was unlike any sesame chicken Ive ever seen or eaten. It was covered in some kind of syrup, comparable to pancake syrup. It was incredibly sweet, but didnt have much flavor orherwise. I think theres potential for Chinese Pagoda to improve, I just dont intend to revisit any time soon.

Read the reviews for this place and considered trying it. Seems like the people who gave it a good review is dead wrong. The food is oily, oil obviously hasnt been changed or filtered. You would think being there during the lunch hour of 12:30pm the food would look more fresh but it wasnt. I left there smelling like soy sauce and crude oil. Waitress never bothered to refill my drink (please dont expect me to ask. Its your job to observe your customers). Will NOT be Returning Customer.

I went to this restaurant 5 times. I ate at the lunch buffet and the dinner buffet. The 6th time I was there I saw a cook come out of the kitchen and use the restroom with his gloves on. I watched the cook come out of the bathroom with his gloves still on. The lady that seems to be the manager told me he didnt use the restroom just fixed something in there. Whenever u come out the kitchen gloves should be thrown away. I have not been back there since that day

Ive been eating crappy Chinese buffets for years. When I discovered the Pagoda earlier this year, I wished I couldve traded all those sub-par buffet experiences with Pagoda experiences. Hot and frequently refreshed, tasty, and featuring many of my favorites done right. Sure, its not a trendy or snobbish five-star restaurant, but its old-school, honest, established (since 1961), and tasty...and for what it is and at that price value, its the best in town.

I have been eating at this place since I was a child. And throughout the years I would have always given it 5 stars if it was possible 5 plus stars. But now this is not the case the food was aweful. It was incredibly salty every bite was ruined by this overpowering flavor of salt. The quality isnt the same either the egg rolls are no long plump and flavorful they are just bland. It pains me to say this but I wouldnt recommend this to anyone.

Im not quite sure where all these negative reviews have come from. Ive gone to Pagoda probably a good 10 times over the past 6 months and every time I go, I think to myself "this is the best $6.50 buffet ever". Their food has always been fresh and cooked well, along with delicious flavor. I cant say enough about the delicious potstickers. Dont listen to the negative reviews.. Ive yet to have a bad experience at chinese pagoda :)

Would be good alcohol insulation food. I wouldnt recommend going here if youre looking for high quality Chinese food. The food was super greasy and oily, which would be good if youre about to or just went on a binge drink-a-thon, but if youre just looking for Chinese food, Id recommend the Chinese food place a bit east in north ave. Its not a restaurant, but the food is better

Horrible horrible horrible. Rude clerk didnt explain the entrees, acted like he was mad we were there. General Tsaos chicken was in some sort of brown sauce. All mushy, completely terrible. Sweet sour chicken all mushy and overcooked, no flavor. All greasy, completely inedible. Went there to pick up food, bathrooms were disgusting. Simply insane how bad this place is.

I think bacon strip is either on something or has no taste buds. I was only in there once and I looked at the buffet and it was what everyone described it, looked rancid lol. So I decided to order take out, it was flavorless and while it wasnt disgusting I decided that after the buffet looked nasty and order fresh food that had no flavor I never went back.

Terrible customer service skills by the woman at the counter, I felt like a criminal picking up my order. While waiting, a carryout customer returned saying that his bag felt light for what he ordered, not a good sign. Food is average at best. There are too many other choices in the area to give this place another shot.

This restaurant in my opinion has good quality food. It might not please other people but each is own. Ive been coming here for years and always had a pleasant meal and good service. The food is always fresh and the waitstaff is always friendly. Recommended for quality food for less price

What did I like... Hmm the crab ragoons were edible. Not much else was! I had some sesame chicken that didnt seem too bad, until I got a couple more... Actually spit it out in my napkin!!! I should have followed my gut instinct and skipped this place. 1 star is too much! Nasty food!

Unfriendly staff. Very very weak unsweetened ice tea.Tiny, cramped booths for two people. Very small dining room. Dirty rag on floor. Poor menu choices. Relish tray is half a can of black olives dumped into a bowl with 2 pickle spears. Pickle juice spoiled the olives.
