After a few years (5+) we returned to the King & I. The King & I turned my family on to Thai cusine. It was an excieptional experience. We were really looking forward to dining here. What a disappointment. We went for the lunch buffet. After looking at what was presnted in the buffet, my wife and daughter opted to order from the menu. My daughter order chicken pudt thai. Pretty basic, right? Well it smelled like a wet dog and tasted only slightly better (it helped that she was extremely hungry). My wife order chicken and rice. The rice had the consistancy of mashed potatoes (way over cooked) and was additionally heavy on the salt. Being more adventurous I ate from the buffet. I tried a little of all the dishes presented. All tasted the about same (beef/chicken) and were heavy on grease. Needless to say I did not each much. The aroma coming off each dish was stomach churning. The wait staff was courteous and the atmosphere was excellent however the quality of food overshadowed everything else.

I was happy to see a Thai restaurant across the street from my hotel on a recent visit to Milwaukee. The food was fine and the prices were good. I would have probably enjoyed my meal except for the fact that I was eating alone and they made me feel very unwelcome. Service was extremely slow and eventually an older woman waited on me. She apoligized for being slow, and actually told me that none of the other waitresses wanted to wait on my table because I was one person taking up a large table (it was a table for 4 and the hostess seated me there). I guess they thought they werent going to be getting a large tip. I was so stunned, I didnt know what to say. I ate at several Milwaukee restaurants by myself during my trip and got used to being seated in the back or by the kitchen, but to actually tell me that no one wanted to wait on me! I wish I had eaten at the Thai Palace which was next door. They have better reviews and hopefully make their solo diners a little more welcome.

I went there last night with my wife who is Thai. After the appetizers and initial rounds of drinks had been served we made the mistake of asking the waitress if she was Thai, to which she apparently took great umbrage. From then on, the dinner was a disaster. The waitress took obvious steps of doing everything possible to avoid us. She never came to check on if we needed more drinks and then kept us waiting for our main course for over an hour at which time I finally had enough and asked to speak to the manager. It was only then that our meal was promptly served. During the time we waited we counted a number of tables where people came in after we had ordered and yet were served well before we were. The food was fine and the manager was very apologetic, but after this experience, we certainly will never return.

Having read reviews from bad to good, my family decided the best way to find out if this restaurant is any good is to dine there. We were not disappointed. The staff was friendly, polite, professional, and attentive. The food was excellent. I started with Won Ton soup (I know, but I make it a point to try it where ever I find it being offered). While I thoroughly enjoyed it, my 18 year old son stated it was the best he has ever had. My main dish was simply The King and I Fried rice. It was very good but not a dish I would ever rate as great anywhere. It was fried rice after all. My son ordered a green curry chicken dish with white rice. Again, he thought it excellent and he has dined in many countries. My wife ordered the same as I did and we now have leftovers. We know who will devour it tomorrow.

First of all, I must say im impressed with their decorations! Their food were okay (I have been to a few Thai Cuisine with MUCH better food and the portion MUCH bigger) but is totally overpriced for the amount that you get! Paid $87 for four Entrees! At the time we went (four of us), they didnt have much customers YET we waited for 48 minutes before we finally got our food! Their service is HORRIBLE! While waiting we all finished our glass water but they didnt refill it. WHAT KIND OF SERVICE IS THAT?! Since we had nothing to drink, we ate our food without anything to down to the food down. I must say that was last time going there. Maybe it was just us having bad luck but a place where customer service is horrible is not a place I would want to keep going to.

First things first...eighteen they say hot they mean HOT!!!!! My co- who is from southeast asia that now lives in Albany was in desperate need for some Asian food. She asked for her food to be "native hot". I asked for my food to be "adventurous hot". The food was unbearable but de-li-cious. The service was fantastic and we didnt have a wait. We both settled for water because i personally didnt want to be up all night from my favorite and usually order thai tea. The bill was $13.00 per person. We both had an appetizer and an entree. I had some jumping shrimp (lemon, chile, cilantro, and beautifully sliced carrots) and pud see eau (their spelling not mine. My co worker had spring rolls and drunk noodles.

I put in a to-go order at 530pm. I was told 35 minutes. I showed up at 6pm. Paid. Waited. Other patrons came into the restaurant while I was waiting. I saw them get seated. I saw them order. I even saw them get their food. I was still standing in the lobby waiting for mine. An HOUR later I received my food. The hostess wouldnt even make eye contact with me. She was unfriendly. I do wonder if I was being punished somehow. I invited a homeless guy into the restaurant with me. He was begging for money, so I invited him in and bought him dinner. Maybe she didnt appreciate me bringing in someone unkempt to their nicer establishment and punished me for doing so. Wont Return.

My friend and I went this evening around 5:30pm. It was fairly empty and we were greeted and seated immediately. The "waitress" was an elderly Asian woman. She appeared to be an owner rather than a server. She did not greet us, did not smile or make small conversation and seemed to know very little about the cuisine. She did very little to make us comfortable or welcome. We asked to have separate checks and she mumbled under her breath, grabbed the holder and walked away. But for the fact the food was fairly good, we will not be dining here again. We did not receive one "have a good night" or "thanks for stopping by". A little goes a long long way.

We were there on a Saturday night. Restaurant was half full. The service was horrible. I practically had to tackle a bus boy to get a glass of wine. Finally 3 of the 4 dinners came and the waitress said the 4th one would be right up. AFTER WE WERE DONE EATING the waitress came back and said they were out of the fourth one so too bad so sad. I told her to come back with a plate of something as were we going to a play and my husband would be sitting there starving during the performance. He gobbled down what ever it was and we left. No apology-nothing. Actually very arrogant about their own mistake. NEVER AGAIN!!
