Had high expectations but will not be returning after my experience on 8/29. I ordered the stuffed beef tips as an appetizer (stuffed with gorgonzola cheese and wrapped in bacon) and a 12 oz ribeye that comes with grilled vegetables and steak fries. The tips came out, five in total, 0 with any flavor other than the bacon and there was hardly any cheese. I dont know if they were microwaved or what, but they were cooked so badly. One was almost raw, 2 were overcooked, one was cooked right, and my wife said hers was chewy. I was hoping the steak would be better, but it came out and I could tell it was not going to be better. It reminded me of the steak you get on a cruise ship. The vegetables were under the steak, mushy and the cheese on them had congealed already. The steak was covered in a brown sauce that was highly seasoned, although the meat was not seasoned at all. To top it all off, both my wife and I have had stomach issues since last night, cant be a coincidence. We will NOT be back.

the tavern has a good bar food menu, but the execution is uneven. we tried the claremont on a living social coupon. the evening was warm, and they had opened the french doors in the bar area to cool things off. we were seated in a small dining area across the hall from the bar. the bench seats along the wall were rather uncomfortable, because the wood paneling had a ridge, and i kept bumping my head against it. the menu has plenty of variety. my husband ordered the special - hickory barbecue spare ribs - which were delicious, and the side of baked black beans was very good. i was looking forward to a hamburger, and i ordered the claremont burger rare (which i was assured they could do). sadly, although it was tasty and juicy, the burger was cooked more like medium rare. the tavern fries were kind of limp.

Terrible Service.... This was by far the worse dining experience...I have lived in Bernardsville my entire life and I am exteremly dissapointed with this place. First, the service was horrible. They never asked us to refresh our drinks or how our dinner was. We never saw our waiter after we ordered our food. I asked for a side salad with my meal. Never got it! My boyfriend found a HAIR in his food. He was so disgusted he had to walk outside. The Sam Adams tasted skunked and as if the keg lines werent cleaned...The food was sub-par. Our plates were never cleaned from the table. I dont think I will ever go here again. We need a place like this that is cheaper and has good service. I am in shock from this experience. Stay away not worth it go to the Station where they are friendly and had better food...

Unbelievably bad... I bought the Living Social deal and thought I would try this place out. Our waiter never came back to refill our beverages, several times we sat there with no drinks for 10 minutes or so. Our food took over an hour to come out from the time we ordered it. After an hour, our waiter said he would check, and he never told us what was going on after that, he just stood across the room and ignored us. Maybe 15 minutes later the food came out- no apology from the waiter or a manager or anything. My boyfriend had a burger and liked it, I had the salmon and it was not very good (definitely not worth the price). I wrote a comment to the restaurant and never even received a response. They really do not seem to care about their customers. I will not go back.

Watch the floors!! When I went to the ladies room the first time I noticed that the floors were slick, but let it go. The second trip to the ladies room I fell, No harm done, But there war no apologies from management either. I addition, my husband and I have been here many times as it is close to our home. I have mixed feelings. While the food is normally very good tonight we ordered the "special" pizza and it turned out that the bartender had the "old" menu so we were brought the wrong pizza. No apologies,no compensation for the added wait, 20 minutes later they brought us the right pizza.

This is my favorite lunch place. I take friends or co-workers to the Tavern two to three times a month and the food is consistently exceptional. The menu offers a wide variety of options but you must try one of Claremonts famous burgers or the calamari salad! The dishes are created with a true foodie in mind but they can take a while to prepare - so skip this place if you are a guzzle and go type. I have never seen a waitress, only waiters, and they are attentive and very nice.

Charming local bar and restaurant, with some terrific items on the menu. Weve had the pizzas, the burgers, and several steaks - all ranging from solid and decent, to excellent. The Yucca and the Asiago Steak fries are great, and the Italian stuffed bread is amazing (and nearly a meal in and of itself) and the Beer Mac and Cheese delicious. It can be loud, but this wouldnt be a place you go to for a quiet romantic dinner - expect a lively crowd!

This place has amazingg food and the portion sizes are huge. Staff was very friendly and accommodating. The only reason Im giving them a 4 instead of a 5 is because the parking situation is terrible- the lot has all of about 8 spaces and the rest is street parking along a poorly lit somewhat residential street. Apparently people in Basking Ridge are allowed to pile their leaves in the street, which takes away from parking too.

New management has overhauled the menu with great success. The Bourbon BBQ wings are a favorite. Thin crust tasty pizzas also quote tasty. My kids love their burgers and I enjoy their turkey burgers. Multiple TV sets means you can usually catch your favorite team. Service has greatly improved but still a bit slow. Nothing another beer wont cure. Try it again. Its worth the trip.

Some of the best burgers around. Nice atmosphere. Service is lacking. It usually takes 30 minutes or more to get the food. Even with that, we still go back because its always a good meal. They also have decent beer options which is a plus.

Usually go for burgers which are good, but there are better burgers out there. Had the steak and bleu salad the other night and will go back. This is a good casual place although it can be hard to get a table, service is usually good.

Worst experience ever, service terrible,waitress no table or people skills. 1 hour for apps that came incomplete. 2 of 3 burgers cold..ugh bad bad bad. will not eat there again , but i will stop for an occasional libation 12/13 7 ppl

Food is great!! Staff just needs to SPEAK! My friend and I sat at the Bar. No, greeting at all. I had to say, HELLO, HOW ARE YOU? Thats a big "peev" of mine. If you want patrons to spend $$$$, the least u can do is SPEAK!
