I have been to Tempura House many times and have never had a problem. I only mention this because I see a few others had a negative experience. However, I tend to go during the week and for lunch, so it is usually not so busy. I have not had the sushi, so I cannot comment on that, but I have greatly enjoyed every other dish Ive had, as has my Mom. The atmosphere, while nothing horrible, is disappointing. When we first moved to Lake Geneva, the only reason I knew it was a Japanese restaurant is because I am familiar with tempura style dishes. The building just looks like a house. The bar to the left of the entrance has a nice Japanese feel, but the rest of the inside is either bland or had Italian decor... for all the sense that makes. I wish I could tell those people who gave it such bad ratings to go back and give it another try.

This restaurant was recommended by family who liked it. We had a terrible experience. They are stingy on their portion sizes, and the food is very basic. Nothing to die for, and certainly not worth the wait. We waited over 30 minutes for our food to come, and when it did, they made no apologies for our wait. (We waited probably close to an hour if not more) horrible service. I have waited a long time at other restaurants. They usually apologize for the wait and offer us something in return. All they did here was put the food down and walk away. Overall, poor service, and you will probably have to wait a really long time for someone to take your order and for the food to arrive.

Giving this restaurant only 3 stars because we just had dinner there with friends we hadnt seen in while and we were rushed through the whole meal by our server Gwen. We were really turned off by this. Food was just ok not extraordinary for the price. After paying the bill and tipping the waitress she actually said (and Im not exaggerating) we need to leave because another party wanted our table (we were there slightly over an hour.) There were open tables around us, no line of people and it was a Tuesday night. That ruined the whole meal. If you want to meet friends for dinner go somewhere else. This restaurant (or maybe - server Gwen) obviously wants you to eat and run!

Second time eating here and I still was not impressed. My wife and I were seated relatively quick which was nice. After waiting for ten minutes without anyone coming to our table I went to the front to ask for a waiter/waitress to come to our table and take our order. I cant say the food was bad but The sushi rolls were poorly rolled with rice missing and falling apart and they charged us to have them make one of the rolls with the rice on the outside. And this is just personal preference but the sauce for my chicken yakisoba was way too strong/rich.

The food was amazingly good (and surprising) but the service was awful. I went there with my boyfriend a Saturday afternoon and theyre werent taking take out. Then we ask for sit on a table and they said we need to make reservations. So we said we want to make a reservation this was at 5. Have to make a reservation for 7. Once we were there again,we were looking for sushi. On a Saturday afternoon!!! They have NO sushi!!! Ended up eating hibachi but the waitress take forever and friends came back and check on is forever again.

Just showed up with 6 people for a reservation I made 2 weeks ago for my husbands birthday. We showed up and the owner told us they were to busy and they wouldnt be able to get us a table...he made no apologies and really didnt seem to care. We are locals and rest assured, we will NEVER be back. Our parents who all drove for over an hour, went home hungry. Happy birthday hunny... Not so much. We were one of a half dozen people leaving upset... Rude, rude, rude...Ill spend my $$ were its deserved...not here...

Sushi was bad. The spicy tuna roll was fishy- it did not taste fresh and left a bad aftertaste. The tempura roll was very poorly rolled- pretty much no rice sticking to the outside. The tuna nigiri fell apart when you picked it up- no way to properly dip into soy sauce and eat with chopsticks. The service was slow- I had to stop a different waitress to ask for more water and even then it took a while for it to come out. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone.

This place is amazing. Was sat by a window overlooking the beautiful snow fall. Service was great and fast, dont listen to the reviews that it takes an hour for someone to talk to you. Any place during busy hours will take awhile to deliver food. Food was delicious and the drinks are to die for. The world is not going to end if you have to wait for your food, you can spend your time drinking their delicious drinks and conversing with your company while you wait.

We love this place!! We are Lake Geneva residents and have eaten sushi all over the country. We are always pleased with our sushi at Tempura House and we love the management who makes us feel welcome on the many special occasions we celebrate there, including birthdays and anniversaries. We love the intimacy of the upstairs dining rooms, the simple décor and the pretty outdoor dining in the warmer months. Thanks for a great place to eat in our town!

This could easily be a 5 star restaurant because they have the best sushi Ive ever had, but the service is terrible. I waited an hour and a half for one order of sushi and our server was nowhere to be found. Not to mention we waited at least 15 minutes after we were seated to be acknowledged. I would only recommend this restaurant if you plan on being there for a long time, otherwise call ahead and place your order to be picked up.

Great place to relax & enjoy! Service is very friendly in professional by Dawn and Gwen! dinners are fresh sushi is spectacular! Comfortable summer seating outside seating small & cozy inside. The owner , of Pi, says he will be closing in one week. We are so sad we love to frequent here! Not another sushi place like it in the area! We are so sad!

I just went here tonight, after hearing rave reviews from 5 different people. I was sat down at a table, then ignored for more than 15 minutes. Mutliple waitress walked right next to me several times, looked at me and walked away. No one came to say hello, bring me drinks or even that they would be with me in a minute.

Food was awesome. We had the sushi and fried ice cream for dessert loved it. The service however was very poor. Waited 20 min for our food and it would have been another 20 with our bill if we didnt get up and start waiting at the counter. Looks like we are going to try take out from here.

We have been to the restaurant previously and were impressed with food. However, hostess leave a lot open. I called Tuesday to make a reservation for Sunday - she would not make the reservation and asked that I call "later in the week". Glad they have the income to turn away guests.
