This is hands down the best Restaurant in Rockford! No other japanese restaurant around, will you have scallops and filet mignon that melts in your mouth like this place! Skip the chicken..not because its not good, its just chicken..get the shrimp, filet, and scallops and you will leave very satisfied..small upcharge for upgrade on scallops or shrimp instead of chicken..and a small charge to upgade the steak! The steak is great, but the filet is TOP NOTCH! it is a must here!! Never had sushi i didnt like from this place either..Everything is wonderful, but i would reccomend the lobster roll!

I have to agree with others that while the show is good and the service is as well i was very unsatisfied with the food it was very salty the steak was overcooked as was the chicken and the sushi was warm when served and not very good compared to others. The spicy tuna tasted like they opened a can of tuna fish and wrapped in seaweed and rice and called it sushi and the other sushi we had was not any better. I would not recommend this restaurant for sushi at all.

The sushi is better than Shogun, but not as good as Marcs. Order during lunch for 20% off. The real reason to come is the atmosphere. The hibachi chefs are great at being entertaining, but the food is tends to just taste like soy sauce, fried rice, and meat. The boxes with an assortment for lunch are my favorite item on the menu. The deck with the koi pond is the best during the summer. Service is typically good, but not extraordinary.

This place is such a unique experience. The atmosphere is definitely classy but the japanese theme is phenomenal. I cant get enough of the hibachi grill experience either. The cook puts on a personalized show for your table and in the mean time grills your meal to perfection. I personally like the chicken and shrimp combo here. When you walk out of here youll be satisfied and gratefully entertained.

I can say without fear of being wrong...worst meal I have ever had. Chef overcooked everything to a nice rubbery finish and bathed everything in soy sauce. Our chef didnt really do any of the hibachi stuff either. I had to live vicariously though another table that had a hibachi chef doing hibachi chef things. Maybe another chef would have been better but im not going to come again to find out.

Worst experience. I am sitting at our table as we speak, still waiting for a chef to arrive. Not only did a chef come and drop food on the grill after 20 minutes to then proceed to say he was sent to the wrong table, but then a different chef arrived at the table that is direct across from ours after they have been waiting for only 15 minutes. We will never come back here.

JMK Nippon offers authentic Japanese food, ambience, and service. I used to live in Japan and my visits to this restuarant allow me to return without the cost of a transcontinental flight. Massan ( the owner) has given Rockford an true experience of Japan. The food is great and the service is fantastic. I prefer to eat in the cafe, but my kids like the other side.

JMK is a unique top sushi chef experience with open grills at your table. The wait staff is incredibly nice and the chefs even nicer and extremely talented. The food is really good but you need to be open to the idea of salty Japanese dining! Only complaint is due to the open grill atmosphere dont dine here if you dont want to come out smelling like smoke!

This place is pretty awesome, I enjoy coming here with friends. A little pricey. Sushi is just ok. Always get the steak hibachi, but the timing of the cooking is odd for hibachi, with veggies, meat, rice all coming out in a really extended timeline, more so than most places. Great atmosphere inside and the staff, including the chefs, are top notch.

Ive been a customer of JMK Nippon for over 20 years. Their food is consistently fantastic. Whether having teppanyaki or dining at the cafe, the quality of food is hard to beat. There is a huge variety to order from and Ive never been disappointed. Just remember to make reservations if planning to eat here for dinner since they tend to be very busy.

Very pleasant atmosphere with courteous wait staff. The best Japanese food?...not really. Bargain prices.? sorry! ......There are better Japanese establishments nearby but for a decent meal at a great dining experience, especially the Hibachi cooking table, it is not to be overlooked because of the entertainment the chefs put on.

We love eating at JMK Nippons...will say I am extremely disappointed in their carry out service. We spent 40.00 on take out dinners and they had the nerve to charge for the side sauces that are included with the dinners when you dine in. Pretty lame when you think about what you pay and they get stingy on sauces.

the manager wont listen to us at all. They have special business hours for holidays but they didnt tell you until fifteen minutes before the kitchens closing. Terrible attitude and I think he was taking advantage of the fact that some of us are not familiar with English so he wasnt paying attention at all.

I wish I could give you five stars. Our waiter was outstanding. The food and drinks were perfectly palatable. The ambience was incredible. The wait for our seating with reservations was unacceptably long. Thanks for a great meal... please work on seating your reserved patrons better. Until next time

If you never had sushi before this is a great place to try it for the first time. The ambiance is impressive and the food is average. BUT if you are an experienced Japanese food eater this is not the place to go. The food is below average. I recommend to drive towards to Chicago for good Sushi.

Every time I have been here it has been a entertaining hibachi with good food and drinks. The interior is nice, good architectural features it has a little bit of class. My only complaint would be the pricing a little spendy for a Hibachi. But the experience is great and very entertaining.

Each year Steak n Shake is kind enough to wish me a happy birthday by sending me a free cheeseburger coupon (with fries!) and on our way back from Chicagoland Speedway we always stop at the Rockford (State St.) restaurant. As usual, the meal was fantastic and our shakes were great too.

The café is great - tasty, good choices, and pretty reasonable prices. I would give the Café five stars but unfortunately the Hibachi just cannot compare to other restaurants Ive been to in the past. If thats what youre looking for I would suggest going somewhere else.

The wife and I love this place. They have two options to eat. Either the hibachi side or what they call the cafe side which has a menu you can order everything from. The food is great and is really well priced. Tons of options and is even good for the kids

I absolutely love this place. The food is prepared right in front of you on a grill and it is amazing food. The service is excellent with friendly, detailed staff. It is a great place for a first date, anniversary, or a friendly get together with friends.

Love this place! Great sushi menu, big variety! Chefs entertain as they cook, great mood and atmosphere! Only complaint I have is that when you leave your whole body, clothes, and hair stink from the hibachi grills but otherwise the place is fabulous!
