Decided to eat here based on its reviews. The people were nice and the service was on par with other hole in the wall places. The problem is the food was not of the quality deserving of the prices they ask. The portions were also pitiful. For LESS than what it would cost to eat there, you can get sushi from Kroger. Not only would you get more food, it would taste better too. All in all, I was very disappointed and other reviews are probably from people that do not know any better. PLEASE consider other places before deciding to go here.

Ive been frequenting Oishi Japanese Express for over a year now. They provide authentic Japanese cuisine at a very affordable cost. Their food is always cooked fresh and provided quickly. The comfortable atmosphere coupled with their excellent service make for an enjoyable dine-in experience. The hibachi dinners and sushi are all very good. Have eaten sushi here a countless number of times and have never gotten sick. This says a lot for an inexpensive, pseudo fast food service in northern Mississippi.

Food comes out confusingly and at separate times. Any kind of meat with fried rice is NOT cooked correctly. The shrimp just sits on top of fried rice instead of being cook mixed in and is in a tiny to go box, even if you order to eat there. It doesnt taste bad, but it is limited and Ive had much better sushi and actual mixed fried rice with meat in it. The tables are really close together. The aesthetics arent terrible, but you can see white bleeding through the art.

Terrible service experience. Im not a race debater, but Im black. I waited 25 minutes watching her bring all the other waiting customers "that just happened to be white" their food. She sits my food on the counter ,which I have no way of knowing its my order. Not that type of guy that usually feels discriminated against, but this rubbed me the wrong way.

I am a Sushi fanatic and have eaten here several times since moving back to Tupelo. They excellent rolls and excellent pricing. I have living in Memphis, Pittsburgh, Washington, DC, Augusta, GA and Sacramento, CA, Oishi can hold their own. Great food.
