We hoped for the best. The jerk chicken tacos (Montego Bay Chicken Tacos) were not good. The portions were generous, but the chicken was dry, bland and totally lacked in flavor. I would recommend that the cooks marinate the chicken, overnight, so the flavor is there within the chicken. And please dont overcook the chicken. The taco shells were store bought generic types, not prepped for this dish as it should have been. The fried Okra had no flavor. The Okra could be seasoned a bit before breading it and deep frying. Just not worth the $10.75 price for two. The slaw wasnt too good and they use canned pineapples. The beer was fine, but that was bottled, cant go wrong with that. This place has such potential and I cannot understand how it cannot strive to offer something more, something people cant wait to return back for. Wed return, but maybe for the beer and next time well try the waffle fries. But we wouldnt try any other dish on the menu, maybe except for the desert. We were going to head of to the Tin Shed Cafe in Portland, which is our regular place, which by the way has the best tacos de pescado ever, made with wild caught salmon and seasoned to perfection for only $7.00, but we wanted to give this place a try. Next time well drive out to Portland. The cooks really need some chef training. They looked pretty young and inexperienced. Cooking is an art. If this place wants to make a lot of $$$$, it must pay attention to the details with regards to how their food is bought, prepped and cooked. The devil is in the DETAILS!

Criminal behavior from the Puffin Cafe! Last April while visiting from Massachusetts I left my credit card at the restaurant. Big mistake. Since I had returned to MA they said they wouldnt mail the card back to me and said I needed to pick it up in person. They also said that when people leave their cards behind by mistake they destroy the card. Although I said I would mail them a stamped self-addressed envelope with a copy of my drivers license, I changed my mind, believing that they would follow through with their policy and destroy the card. Everything was fine until June 6th when someone charged $177 on my card. Yup, it was a charge from the Puffin Cafe! I called my credit card company first to dispute the charge, then I called Puffin. The person with whom I spoke identified herself as the manager, but would not share her name in spite of the fact that I identified myself immediately. In fact, I believe she was the same individual I spoke with in April when I first tried to retrieve the card. In trying to get to the next step of the process of rectifying the situation she hung up on me! Long story short, someone at the restaurant used my card to charge $177 at their own place! Not very smart! I am in the process of filing charges. Diners beware!

Went there on Friday evening and tried to place two orders to-go. They refused the orders as they said they were too busy to do to-go orders. Difficult to understand how taking a to-go order takes away from serving tables? When you serve a table it requires taking the order, serving the order, filling water and drink glasses, making sure you meet the needs of the customer, delivering the tab and collecting the payment. Oh dont forget you need to clean the table and wash the dishes. On top of it drove 10 miles passing well over 25 other food establishments that would have been happy to have me as a to-go customer. Guess I did not miss anything after reading the other reviews. Poor service, substandard food and pricey.

Love this place! Great Caribbean food. Do understand though, that it is Caribbean food, not Mexican food. Much lighter seasoning and expect to taste more of the meat and less of the seasoning. The drinks are reasonably priced for what you get. you will be hard pressed to get drinks like this, as strong as these are, anywhere else for this price. Dont even think of having 2 rum runners if you are driving. If you have a designated driver, go ahead and enjoy! Dont come here expecting over seasoned Mexican food. Dont come here expecting a fancy dining experience. Come here for the great atmosphere, the great location, the great food, the outstanding drinks, and the great people. Come here if you miss the Caribbean.

I used to go there several times each summer and had great service and friendly staff. Never one complaint. I went there 2 weeks ago and both were terrible. I thought that maybe it was just a bad night so I went again tonight and took friends with me. It was WORSE!!! The staff is young and doesnt seem equipped to handle crowds very well, they didnt set very good expectations for the duration of wait time, the service was terrible and the food was either under-cooked or over-cooked. We never got our water that we asked for, had to ask for our check, etc. Everything was terrible and I was embarrassed to waste my friends time so I will never go back. The bathrooms were disgusting too!!

Wonderful place! So happy to find this little treasure. The location is unique the service is awesome and the food was KILLER! By far the best fish & chips I have EVER had. The drink menu was fun and vast including many local brews and wines. The drink my friend wanted was not on the menu however the ingredients where available and they promptly without hesitation made her an Irish coffee. If you make it their way be sure an read the back story and don’t get the fish & chips to go as we did (warmed later in a pan, still delish) eat them hot. Coconut shrimps’ and calamari was what we got filled up on, yum. I wish this place many years of happiness well done!

First time visit. Atmosphere was okay. First drink watered down. Had to wait a while to get it replaced. Waitress said since it was blended, it made it weak? Not when I was tending bar. Attitude was not good. Should have replaced it immediately and apologized and made sure it was removed from the bill. Gave the drink back and ordered something else which was better. Still charged for the bad drink (not very good customer service). Service in general was okay. Coconut shrimp and the chicken over rice was good. Expected more than what was received. Chocolate cake was good. Will probably come back but just not as often as we had originally thought.

After having gone there for years to good food and service, the past 2 visits show something has gone horribly wrong. Our 2nd visit in 6 months yielded a 1 hour wait until we demanded from the manager where our food was. The eatery was only half full after dinner hour. The fillet of fish sandwich was just bits of fish, no fillet. The drinks were the most watered down I have ever experienced. Overall, a very bad experience and almost a copy of the previous stay. So on to new eateries and with Puffin cafe dropping off our favorites list for good.

Food was ok yet too pricey for value. My order was a small portion for $ and the time we waited, at 2pm on a Tuesday. While considered trendy for the area the establishment is small and tight seating. Lacked quality AC or air movement on my visit. Doubt that will change. All in all, too expensive I felt for a qwik lunch, cocktails, or the area.
