I have been going to the social a few times a year, since I discovered the place. The food has always been great, the chili with butternut squash was what sold me on the place my first time in. I took some friends there from out of town to have a few drinks on Sunday--the weather was perfect, sunny and warm in February why not walk by the water and get some drinks and a late lunch. We arrived and Cruz the bartender was attentive at first, but after an hour, our drinks were empty and we had not been approached by the bartender or any of the other wait staff. We attempted to get someones attention to cash-out because we had given up. I walked up to the bar and asked for our checks, he asked if I wanted the tab split, I replied "yes." We got our checks a few minutes later and we combined some tickets with our cards and gave them back to Cruz. Several minutes later I asked another server if there was anything she could do to help speed up the process. During this process, we all felt very uncomfortable by the way the bartender was presenting himself to us. He stared myself and another friend down, no smile, no apology for the delay. I personally felt that he was trying to intimidate me. My friends also made similar comments, they felt uncomfortable. I called and spoke to the GM about the situation, she was there during the shift and was the person who I asked if there was anything else that could be done about the delay on getting our cards back. She was very apologetic--I appreciate this--and she stated that she had not had any comments like this about Cruz. If you have had a similar situation with this bartender, let it be known. I hope that I am wrong, and that he was just having an off day--we all have them. But a smile and a little empathy goes a long way to making customers feel welcome. We will be going back, the food is worth it; however, I doubt that we will ever sit in the bar again.

Worst service ever!!! (2 stars because the food was delicious.) had reservation for 8 people at 7:45 on a Tues. Server (may have been bartender) acted like he was annoyed we were there. Never got a wine menu, had to walk inside and track one down. Server didnt "greet" us for almost 20 minutes. ("Greet" is not really accurate as he didnt introduce himself, welcome us, ask about a special occasion etc.) He wanted us to order drinks, apps, and dinner at same time- didnt ask or seem to care if we wanted to. We obliged because wed already waited so long. Drinks took another 20+ minutes. Only 6 of our 8 entrees came out. No explanation or apology. Asked a passing manager about the two missing entrées. He said, "I encourage the rest of you to eat while its still hot..." Really? We were being polite. Server brought missing entrees out, again didnt apologize or ask if we wanted or needed anything else. Just dropped them off like we were a burden to him. Felt very uncomfortable. We never received two dinner salads or a basket of bread we ordered. One fancy burger came out totally plain and dry for no reason. Thats was fixed, but more waiting. Server informed us dessert was on him, but rather than bringing a dessert menu he brought a bowl of ice cream and a flourless chocolate cake. (Never asked what we actually wanted, or if we wanted any other dessert or coffee.) Thanks? Saw the credit card was on the table so he picked it up and ran it. brought back the customer and restaurant copies but no itemized bill... Thanked us for "bearing with him". Very aloof and insincere. Feeling like a burden, forgotten and frustrated... not how I wanted to spend my college graduation celebration dinner. Needless to say, we wont be back.

Tonight was our first experience eating here! Our son & his family live upstairs in Theas Landing. We thought to give Social a try, despite the 3.7 rating. The ONLY reason i didnt give 5* was the wait time for main entrees. However, it was well worth the wait! The food was hot & well presented. I recommend the butternut squash soup! INCREDIBLY delicious! Our son had a tasty brisket sandwich with sweet potato fries. Which were nice & crisp, not soggy! I did thoroughly enjoy my ginger chicken bowl!(next time i go back, Im getting the Sumo Bowl) Naturally, we got both pitchers of Red & White Sangria! (Im an island boy! So, naturally i love the mango & pineapple in the White) Our server Rhonda was outstanding! She was attentive and took great care of our family!(we were told that there has been considerable turnover recently. Having other servers like Rhonda, should help boost that 3.7 rating) I work as a server for Spencers @ the Hilton. So, i know about service! Its very easy to give bad ratings, but i hope more people write about their great experience here too! FYI: MOST deposits are NON-REFUNDABLE. Comping an entire party was the RIGHT thing to do. If you have to leave early, ask for a ticket time on your entree. To better gage your selection. Lastly, dont wait after youre totally pissed to complain. After, the 2nd missed time i wouldve asked for a manager. Service cannot be corrected, if you dont do anything about it immediately. Trust me, they want to make things right! You cant be perfect all the time. Fortunately for us, we had a tremendous experience! Well be back, mos def! ps. If you go when Chris is bartending, youll be feeling irie with awesome music to go with your waterfront dining experience!

Sans the cold food and the short staff for a large party this restaurant was a disappointment. Our group was not unusually large but you would think with advanced notice and a deposit, the management who we were told sent everyone home because it was overcast (whatever that means) would ensure service was at least adequate for an engagement party. You know a momentous occasion? Instead cold food, sub par service and a poor employee who had to perform the job of at least 2 or 3 servers independently. No wonder he forgot my drink three times (yes, that was me). Just because the food was comped that still doesnt make this bad experience any more bearable. The restaurant still kept the deposit and an apology should have at least been received from the management to the bride and groom to be since this was their special day. Poor overall experience followed by a poor response for their lack of customer satisfaction. All for a friend to write an honest review and be told by management that it was not as poor as explained here? How can you honestly dictate the impression someone got when they outline issue after issue with their entire experience? Very disappointing. I do not recommend this restaurant and my review is very much symbolic of my experience whether this eatery decides to honor the customer is always right motto or not.

I went to this place last Saturday with excitement hoping that it would be a great experience but I got completely the opposite. Never in my life have i had to wait two plus hours for COLD food! The worst part was that we had reservations set for one of my best friends engagement party. We only got asked for drinks one time and we never received a refill on our Waters, let alone cocktails. There seemed to be only one waiter working the bar and the floor with hostesses standing around and many cooks in the back. This came at a surprise because the newly engaged couple had put down a deposit and reserved the space in advance. You would think that they would be prepared for this but note that was not the case. Our friend ordered her drink three different times and when it still didnt come she had to go to the bar and get it herself. Another couple at the party had to leave before their food even arrived. The whole party (about 30 guests) ended up getting compt. for everything, but we still left with a bad taste in our mouths.
