Being a native of Tacoma, I have visited almost every restaurant in this great city. The Crown Bar was easily the worst experience Ive had at any restaurant. Their scotch prices are 3x higher than even Hotel Murano (which is infamous for overpriced drinks), the servers do not communicate specials/menu accurately, and everyone in our party was charged twice for their meals and drinks; prompting all to file fraud charges with their banks. If you are attracted to this place because of the immediate/available seating on an otherwise busy weekend evening, it may be because of these reasons. I do not write many reviews, but feel that this place really takes the cake for being the biggest waste of real estate on the 6th ave. strip.

We were a group of six. The waitstaff were some of the best Ive ever met. Super friendly and professional. Dishes are creative and delicious. What surprised us was how well priced everything was. Although the whole place did have a definite bar feel, it was amazingly clean. Cleaner than many upscale restaurants in Tacoma and especially Seattle. The owner was here that night, but she did not do the lame-ass "how is everything" table visits. Nothing worse than having to force polite small talk with a mouthful of food. Overall, our new favorite place!

I dont get why this place has so many good reviews. The atmosphere is very pretentious; I guess its good for hipsters. They have a good selection of local beers on tap, which was a good thing but their burgers are unforgivable. My wife and I both ordered burgers and both were burnt, whatever sauces they put on them were disgusting, and the were just plain bad. I dont even know how to describe them. The fries were pretty good though. Worst burger either of us has ever eaten.

Always drove by this place on 6th ave and assumed it was a dive bar with typical bar food. One day the wife and I were looking for somewhere new to try and we gave it a whorl, and boy Im glad we did. This is definitely not typical bar food and drinks. Everything is elevated and delicious. The patrons are all interesting characters in their own right and the bar keep is as friendly and knowledgeable as they come. If youre 21+ do yourself a solid and check this place out.

We LOVE this place! Our server Kevin is sublime! The food is awesome and very very unique. We are serious foodies. We frequented this place twice in a week. It did not let us down. EVERYTHING we ordered was beyond amazing! GO! Check this out!!! We went on a Sunday and a Wednesday and sat in the bar both times. Kevin was such a great server!! Seriously ask for him. He rocks! (no I am not related!)

This place needs help, the chicken and waffles were definitely not home made, I bet the waffles were from Costco.They were also out of half the items on the menu and our waiter didnt know anything about the food. Menu was a bit haphazard some items were missing descriptions and other items dont make sense. I cant recommend anyone come to this place, my experience was fairly close to terrible.

The new ownership has embraced the business and kept all the best things about this place. Good service, bar tenders know their stuff and the atmosphere is quieter and more upscale than the nearby dive bars but not by any means boushy or stale. They are a tad more pricey because they have quality bottles and not just the cheap stuff. Worth the stop in.

The Crown reminds me of Cheers, a place where everybody knows your name. I have been drinking there since 2012 and I havent stopped going, its vibe is just right, the staff are so cool! I mean cooler than cool! Ice Cold! If you need a place where quirky people hangout, The Crown is it. Its a great place and if you dont believe me, ask for a hug.

The last waiter/bartender I had there was rude and snappy at the whole table that was there. We hadnt said or done anything. That was unpleasant to deal with. Wings and nachos were very taste though. So I would still recommend the place, just hope that you dont get that waiter/bartender.

The food was amazing. They have rotating menus though so I cant guarantee its always good. Ive been there about 4 times and I am always satisfied, sometimes really impressed. It is well priced, unpretentious, almost like a secret good restaurant. Good drinks also!

This place has been a fixture in the 6th Ave district of Tacoma for around 10 years. The staff is friendly and inviting. The drinks have always been and still are on point. You cant go wrong with the burgers or the mac and cheese.

The Crown Bar is a great place to hang out at...and theyre food is delicious! Theyre hamburgers are yummy and (my favorite) the roasted beet salad is amazing. Very tasty drinks, of course, also.
