What a sneaky little bar this is! From the outside it looks kinda divey but after you walk past the bar and video poker machines you stumble upon this magical back patio. I say magical because the big wooden patio is adored with strings of Christmas lights and for whatever reason, theres glitter on the trees. Strange, but I dig it. They make a fine stiff cocktail, I like the Hurricane if Im trying to get real tispy off one drink. Lighter sipping drinks are also great, and you cant go wrong with a local brew. We ordered some food and initially I thought it was a little spendy for typical bar grub. We ordered Mac n Cheese (an appetizer on the menu), a Cobb salad, and a Nacho. When it came out I realized that it wasnt spendy at all, they just serve big portions! The salad was massive, if youre looking for a light side salad you wont get it, its more like a meal for 2. The nacho mountain kept all 4 of us busy even though only 2 people actually ordered. And all of the food tasted fantastic. I will definitely be going back soon. Ive heard great things about the burgers so that will definitely be my next venture at 21st Ave Bar & Grill.

They have great happy hour food that costs only $3 a plate. The drinks are decent, and the waitress is nice. Ive been there quite a few times and the food is always good. The Jamaican meatballs and Spicy Mac and Cheese is really tasty, and the proportions are generous. The baked avocado salad (which is unfortunately not on the happy hour menu) is scrumptious. Oh, and the caprese salad is good, too! The restaurant side isnt too shabby--dimly lit dining room with art on the walls. I have yet to hang out in the back patio everyones raving about.

New remodel, same great service. I used to come here after work back in the day for strong drinks, decent food and good service, its been a while and it was nice to see it has only improved. While there are fancier places two blocks west, and cheaper places a few miles south east, this spot is just about right for what is available on 21st Ave. High rating for the nice remodel and the stellar service. I havent ordered food yet but the drinks and great bartender, Scott, will have me coming back. -Been back three times and still enjoying it.

Made sure to stop by on a quick trip to Portland after hearing that ownership had changed.... The place has truly been refreshed and updated! It is a very comfortable and fun atmosphere for drinking beers and hanging out. The Quinoa dish is awesome. You get the great selection of local beers (which is now an expectation in PDX), but here you can ALSO still get a cheap PBR on draft or Montucky in a can! Now that, I can appreciate! Oh, and one of the owners was walking around greeting guests! I will be back. Nice work 21st and GO Ducks!

It took over an hour to get a couple of salads and a burger. Once we asked the server for an eta, we were told that it takes a long time to cook a burger well done. We questioned whether it takes an hour, and got laughter in response. No apology whatsoever. One of the orders arrived first. The rest of the meal arrived 50 minutes later. Wedges for the table arrived slightly burned and at the end of the meal. Once we asked for the manager, we were told "shes over there". The food was decent, but the whole experience was not worth it.

Dont let the initial "divey" bar atmosphere deter you away. Take a few steps into their back patio and discover their spacey and friendly patio where small decorations makes the atmosphere a wonderful place to just kick back and enjoy few brewskies with your buddies. Prices are moderate, food is good. Nothing particular, just sense of good atmosphere where there is no pretentiousness.

HORRIBLE STAFF!!!! DRINKS ARE WEAK!!! WAITED OVER 20 MINUTES FOR SERVICE AT AN EMPTY BAR WHILE THE FEMALE BARTENDER WAS CHATTING IT UP AT THE END OF THE BAR!!! IN MY 20 YEARS OF GOING TO BARS THIS IS EASILY THE WORST PLACE EVER!!! SAVE YOUR TIME AND MONEY AND GO DOWN THE STREET. THERES PLENTY OF OTHER GREAT BARS WITHIN WALKING DISTANCE!

I love this place for happy hour but I hadnt been in in a while. I eat really low carb these days, and dining nights are special. I got the Philly cheese steak with no bun and it was amazing. Beer and odd cocktails are good prices and while everything comes quickly, they leave you be if you sit in the corner. Big fan!

These guys are great in the summer when their patio is open- its huge and youd never know it was there unless someone told you. The chicken club is pretty good and theres great service. My only complaint would be the stream of meth heads that walk up and down 21st all night.

By the looks of the outside and inside, youd never know that bar has a giant, gorgeous patio. Past that, the food is your typical assortment of burgers and sandwiches. The late night happy hour menu does have all the foods you need to balance out a night of drinking.

Since Mike and his wife took over they have put a new face on the bar. It is still your neighborhood bar with great service and awesome atmosphere. Love coming here for casual drink and eats or even coming back late at night for closing cocktail. Highly recommend

The place is ok for a drink or two with a group of friends. The food isnt very good, and service is usually fairly crappy. The staff is hit or miss. The patio when open is really the only reason to go. They have a huge nice patio in the back.

Our food came very late, I got the wrong side, and my very simple club sandwich was burnt to a crisp (bread and chicken). A club is basic bar food and they sent it out inedible. They didnt fix it or take it off the bill. Horrible.

I love this bar! I think it has recently changed management, so it will be interesting to see how that plays out. The patio is perfect for a sunny day brew and they are building a new bar out there which will be pretty rad.

Really fresh seafood! We had salmon, and it was a huge nice portion! Service was great, even though it was during the lunch rush ..a very nice bar menu too! I look forward to dining here again!

Awesome back patio. Can be reserved for parties and get togethers. Great happy hour and regular menu food. I especially enjoy the chicken strips that are dipped in sriracha before being fried!
