But for the bad service, I would give this place five stars. We arrived and put our name on the list. 40 minutes later, we ordered at the counter and were seated at a community-style table (there were strangers sitting next to us). After another half hour later, we asked the cashier if they had lost our order. She un-apologetically replied, "food takes at least a half hour. Its posted." Rude. The response should have been something like: "Im sorry, let me check on that for you..." Ive never heard of a restaurant with a minimum half-hour wait time for food. Do they go to the grocery store for each order? Finally, after an hour and a half (I am not exaggerating), our food arrived. They forgot part of my friends order. The food was good. I had biscuits and gravy, and it was delicious. When we were done, we bused our dishes. After paying $16 per person, and tipping 20%, I expected the wait staff to handle busing. All around, the service was bad. We received nary a word from the (one-person?) wait staff the whole time. They seemed ill-equipped as a restaurant, and lacked the normal courtesies you expect when dining out. Its like they decided to open a restaurant out of their home kitchen, unaltered, and they treat you as an uninvited guest. I think it would be great if they kept the same menu, but improved service.

Food = okay, not amazing. Comfort food and an uninspired presentation. The service = terrible. Never have I felt less welcome at an establishment- youd think I was visiting the Kremlin the way the host and wait staff treated us: as though outside guests were the least important part of their operation, every order/question was some obstacle to their attempt to enrich themselves with the least possible effort. Theres nothing more annoying than an establishment that thinks that putting kale on their menu permits them to putting a scowl on their face and their nose in the air. Here, Ill make it concrete: come in, be told to wait 20 minutes to be seated, even though 6 tables are empty and there are only 2 people in front of us in line. Order two coffees, and it takes 2 minutes to make one, 15 minutes to make another. But dont look over at the barista to check- she might get angry that youre not sitting and waiting your turn! For new years, punch the waitstaff in the face!

With only 1 party of 2 ahead of us at the counter, it took a full 25 minutes to actually place out order. There was only 1 person working in the front of the house, and she was moving slow and chatting too much. When she finally got to us she kept running off in the middle of taking our very straight forward order to go do other things. The atmosphere was really cute and the food was good once we finally got it. You order at the counter, seat yourself in the dining room, gather supplies you need from various spots around the dining room and then bus your own table. I would not recommend this for anyone who is disabled or has trouble walking. Overall, I would not go back.

The food is surprisingly good. I didnt expect some of the basic menu descriptions to be as good as they are. The way the place operates is a little weird. Sometimes youre supposed to write your name on a wait list at the counter. Once youre called, you then place your order and find a table. Also, more along the lines of McDonalds is the expectation that you clean your table off to a cart of dirty dishes in the back. Atmosphere is okay. A simple style that leans toward trendy, yet kind of bland. Ordering take away food may be an option to avoid the long waits on the weekends.

Weve taken to celebrating birthdays at Fiddle Head after exercise class, a good place for a group of 9 to slightly whoop it up on wood benches. Cheesy breakfast biscuits counter-balance any ounces we might have dropped sweating Pilates plank poses, and nobodys complaining. Casual, help-yourself, good coffee, unique breakfast hash, high quality ingredients pancakes: all worth the dollar more than most other West Seattle cafes. Now, if theyd only replace the Grumpy Gert who takes your order and money (like its coming from her own pocket), Id look forward to going there even more.

A bit overpriced for the quality of the food (which was OK) and restricted range of the menu. It has a strange ambiance for somewhere where you bus your own table. The chef (?) is a really nice guy, and seems to really care about the clientele, but the counter staff border on annoying as they phone in an appearance pretending to pay attention at work (among other minor things the food arrives with a childs fork: wow, really?) Why go there when there are more than a dozen GREAT places within a mile where youll be stuffed with really good food and have leftovers for less $$$?

I go there often and have never been disappointed with anything, food, service, atmosphere, other customers. Their scones float off the plate. They understand about breakfast meats. The coffee is endless. Pancakes are banana pancakes and they dont even need syrup since they come with chopped fruit that is a perfect compliment. The B&G is world class. Go there and if you want to make it easy, go either before or after the weekend rush. Weekdays -- bliss. Yeah, full 5 stars.

The atmosphere is always nice mid-morning on a Sunday. The food tastes great, bacon is good and greasy. Make sure to arrive with your entire party; otherwise, youll be skipped over until they show up. This place is also saturated with families with young kids, so if thats not your thing not a good place for a quiet brunch. If you do have a family, this is a great place to go!

Excellent food, try the salmon potato cakes. Expect a lengthy wait, to get in the door as well as you get your food. They do give fair warning with a sign at the register saying it may take 30 min to get your food (around 30-45 for us). Might have also been delayed as we went on a busy Sunday morning on a nice day for the farmers market. Will definitely try this place again.

Great, fresh food and friendly service. The hash, granola and banana pancakes were exceptional. Also, the coffee cake and scones are some of the best around. The This is not a sit-down-and-be-served restaurant. Customers order at the counter. Servers bring the food to you. Customers serve themselves coffee and water, and bus used dishes. They restaurant was clean and comfy.

This was my first visit. The food was absolutely awesome...aviance is so basic and plain, but oh, so welcoming! Yes, you have to bus your table but that adds to the experience of the place. Jordan and Tayvia are simply spectacular with their customer service skills. I will be back and plan to bring friends and family with me!

The food is amazing. The atmosphere is relaxed and laid back. Yes you have to get your own coffee and tableware but thats part of the great open community vibe. The downside is that it can be noisy if your trying to have an intimate conversation. The prices are high but worth treating yourself for quality ingredient meal.

This is my favorite spot. I looked forward to coming here every weekend. The service is great, friendly and welcoming and the food is amazing!! I have so many favorite items. The banana pancakes and biscuits and gravy are favorites and I dont typically like or order pancakes or biscuits and gravy anywhere else.
