Yeah, Im not so sure. First I would give it 2.5 stars if that was an option and Im giving it 3 because, I get it, they are changing it up and its just not for me. I used to be downtown a whole lot in the evening a little while back and I used to roll into Dragonfish (bar area) for the late night happy hour at least twice a week. The drinks, the menu, the atmosphere were all perfect for a bit of end of the night grub. Well I rolled in there other night this past week and I was unaware that they had done a remodel of the place and my initial thought was this place sure is different. It now looks and feels pretty much like every other place in downtown. Nothing really special about his place anymore. If youre a fan of the old Dragonfish, you should be ready for a different experience. Atmosphere: Bright, sanitized, simple, uninteresting. The night I was there, I was solo and honestly didnt feel very welcome but I sat down anyways. There was a loud, obnoxious table of younger patrons giving the bartender/server a really (loud) hard time. Boisterous and loud, I can get behind, but they were just jerks and while I know its not Dragonfishs fault, it didnt help the experience. Food: The happy hour menu has changed quite a bit. The food that I got was pretty solid. I do have to say that there was not as many options on the happy hour menu as before. I was disappointed to see some of my favorites had been removed. Looks like they just streamlined it. I will say that I got 3 items (2 food, one drink), from the HH menu. It was not exactly substantial, and it came to ~$16. I left a $20. Truthfully, I was ready to just chill out enjoy some grub, have a drink or two and head home to relax before bed, but that didnt happen. I should have just walked out, but instead I stuck around and tried. The whole time I just kept thinking that it was a mistake to come in there. All I wanted to do was order, eat, pay, and leave as fast as I could. Once again, this is MY experience, and maybe they are just looking for another type of clientele and thats cool, but Im most likely not going to be heading back, nor suggesting this spot when Im out with a group.

Dragonfish Cafe came on a recommendation from a self proclaimed sushi nut friend shortly after we moved here. We were disappointed by the limited nine-item sushi menu (only four of which had the raw fish that we love so much) and as we were quite hungry, decided to order from the regular menu. My Chinese Five Spice Salmon was beyond my expectations; tender, flavorful, and beautifully plated. The two dishes that my fellow diners ordered were also tasty but not as memorable. However, the service throughout our stay completely overshadowed the food. We kept finding ourselves searching for our waitress who was seen either waiting repeatedly on other customers or standing at the bar talking to other staff members. Even when it came time for the check (a point at which most other less-than-desireable waitstaff put on an air of friendliness with a big smile and wish you a great evening) it was placed on the table and she disappeared again, never to be seen for the rest of the evening. We eventually had to flag down someone bussing tables to get our balance paid. We are generally larger than average tipers and pretty understanding of rough days those in the food service industry can have (I have been on the other side of the menu) but this was so bad we felt compelled to leave no tip (something I last did in highschool) as well as leave my first review.

Went to Dragonfish with a friend for dinner. From the moment we walked in until the moment we left we felt so welcomed! Each staff member greeted us as we were walked back to our table. There were a lot of people eating lunch there so it meant a lot that they would go out of their way to greet us even though they were really busy. One thing to call out, I really liked the theme that carries through the establishment, really added to the experience. The restaurant is very clean, and had easy to read menus. We ordered the chicken pot stickers, chicken satay, grilled miso ribeye, and the Thai Dungeness crab cakes. I was pretty impressed with each item, which was served small plate family style- almost like tapas. We started with 4 then added on as we craved more food. The prices seemed very reasonable for most items to us. All the food was fresh and hot, and true to what our server said, the food was brought out fast. We lingered over our meals, spending almost an hour and a half and our server never rushed us. The only minor downfall to this establishment is that the restroom is outside the restaurant, up the elevator to the 2nd floor, down the hall and you have to a code to use the restaurant located in The Paramount Hotel. Not really anything the restaurant can do about that. This is more-so a tip for anyone who comes here.

our group of 5 arrived at the restaurant without a reservation at about 4pm on a Friday and were seated without any issues. based on our timing, we were able to take advantage of the happy hour prices, which are pretty decent, though some members of our party did order from the regular menu. in regards to the food - it was just okay. i started with the egg drop soup, which wasnt that great. it kind of tasted like the only seasoning thatd been used was soy sauce - not in a good way. following that was the poke don (also just okay - not bad, but nothing to write home about) and then my spicy tuna roll. i will say that the spicy tuna roll actually had a nice little spicy kick which was pleasing. the spicy fried chicken (friend ordered it and i nabbed some) was actually pretty tasty, but mostly because of the sauce. for drinks, I had ordered the house Dragonfish lemongrass collins, which really refreshing, and really tasty. the service - generally on par with what I was expecting. but I will say this - if you dont know what youre talking about in regards to food, dont start rambling on about with "you dont know, but that you THINK..." overall, a solid 3/5 imho. prices were good, happy hour portions generous, but nothing Ill be craving at home.

Dragonfish food was quite good and once I was finally seated the waitress was quite prompt and helpful. The initial experience was HORRENDOUS. I showed up at 5 oclock for Happy Hour and was told the wait was 10-15 minutes. I understand that it is hard to gauge this and the hostess I think honestly gave her best effort. BUT, there were countless tables open in the Dining Room which were off limits apparently, also, I asked if we were seated at 6:01 (Happy Hour ends at 6) if we could place an order at the Happy Hour rates - I was promptly reminded that HH ends at 6 :-). Alright then, can I place my order at 6 if I have not been seated so its in the system? We only allow drink orders to be placed if your not at a table :-). Alright, I will sit here patiently and chance it that I get seated within the hour. Cliff notes: Food was good Service was horrendous Rules that are imposed are 100% ABSOLUTELY not patron friendly.
