Super friendly staff. I ordered takeout online for me and my wife. In the notes section I requested my wifes dish be made without any batter on the chicken, and they actually called me and asked if the entire dish needed to be prepared gluten free! They hit the nail on the head with that one. When I walked into the restaurant, it looked very clean and the staff were very, very friendly and super attentive. About three different groups walked in behind me, and I saw two other staff members pop up out of nowhere to take care of them. The guy who gave me my food was super nice. He set me up to pay for my food with another employee behind the counter, who was currently on the phone. I listened to him repeatedly tell a customer he couldnt understand them because of a bad connection without showing an ounce of frustration towards the customer. Wonderful customer service, amazing food! Would love to eat here again if Im ever in the area again.

The two stars are ,generously, for the broccoli. The veggie rolls were almost all doughy wrapper, mushy, indiscernible fragments of cabbage? , A few dots, like 1/16 inch in diameter, of carrot. The broccoli was excellent, cooked perfectly, warm, healthy bright green, and firm in the broccoli/beef...The beef however was so steamed, soggy , that I argued it wasnt beef but a beef like substance, a mush slime in your mouth. My son said it was excessively boiled, steamed, too gone to be edible. I picked out and ate the broccoli on the way to the gas station where we threw the scary meat substance and tasteless , watery sauce dish out before we got home. Never going here again.

This place was a huge disappointment. I had heard good things about the food and decided to take my staff there for lunch. There were six of us, but there were only a few others in the restaurant. It took us two hours to get out of there! We all ordered lunch specials so you think there would be few problems. I was wrong. The food was brought to the table cold and greasy, orders were confused, pork was brought to the table instead of chicken, we had to ask the waiter for basically everything (tea, condiments, etc.). This is a shame too because I have been looking for decent restaurants to take my staff. They really struck out. Buyer beware!

By far one my worst dining experiences to date. Server gave us the wrong dish to begin with, took it back to the kitchen, and then we overheard him talking to another server about how he will get to "take it home later". Food we got was mediocre at best, absolutely zero attention from the server, and then we were charged a mandatory 18% gratuity for our party of 6 even though their menus indicate it for parties of 8. They claimed their menus werent "updated" with the new policy. Never waste your time at this establishment, even the Chinese buffet is better than this

The worst take-out I have ever bought, and for $30! After a couple of bites into the garbage it went. The BBQ Pork was oily like it had been thrown in a frying pan and consequently had no color, that pink to a red edge, and tasted like leather. The noodles (Hunan chow fun) were a gluttonous mess, looked bad and tasted no better. The hot and spicy Soft shell crab was spicy but had no other flavor. The carton looked like it had a teaspoon of sauce with some vegetables, no where near enough to add any flavor. The best part of the whole meal was the white rice.

There was once an awful restaurant with the same name and locale, but the new owners and chef have turned this into arguably the best Chinese food in the area. A quiet pleasant atmosphere helps, but the food has become outstanding. Particularly recommended are the dumplings and broad noodle dishes. Nothing in Arcata comes close. Liu[s in Eureka is a decent second in food, but no ambiance whatever. (FYI a hint of overall attention to quality is in the real chopsticks provided on request, rather than the cheap wood pull-aparts.)

The food was great, we shared a "combo" from the back page of the menu and there was enough for both and it was yummy. The outside wasnt very welcoming, but the inside was decorated nicely and was very comfortable. Im pretty sure we were the only ones there at 1pm on a Saturday, which made our food come quick, but we were surprised that nobody came to check on us during our meal. The host/waiter was nice, the place was clean, and the price was pretty normal, and worth what we ate.

I worked at Hunan Village for 4 years, and I had dinner there almost every night I worked, about 4 to 5 nights a week. I still enjoy the food. Some things arent as good as they should be - the building is old, and it is a struggle to keep everything looking new and clean. The wine list is also crap, but at least the beer selection is somewhat decent. Definitely my favorite Chinese place in the area, and Im not just saying that because I used to work there.

Hunan Village (NOT Hunan Plaza) is makes some of the best food in the area. Without question they have the best Szechuan cuisine that can be found locally, they also do a darn good job with other styles of Chinese cooking, but Szechuan style is where they really stand out. Atmosphere of the restaurant leaves something to be desired, but the quality of the food makes up for that in my opinion. Highly recommended.

I made quite a large order to go and it was ready when they said it would be. Everything was wonderful. The portions were large and quite filling for dinner for 2 days with some left over. I loved the Hot and Sour soup and would have given the restaurant 5 stars if the soup was just a little thicker. The soup I am used to eating had a little thicker broth. My family cant wait to order again.

The service was a little slow but the food was excellent. I got the pork fried rice and sweet-and-sour pork. It was probably the best that Ive had in Humboldt County. I would definitely recommend this place. If youre looking for a place to relax and having a cup of tea while eating as much as you can then its a great place to go. :-)

The chow mein was weird, greasy & bland. I asked for chicken, I think it was chicken but am suspicious. Uhh.. the bugs in my wonton soup though. Little knats. One whole bug. The rest of "what I thought was pepper" was just mangled bug bodies. The chow mein and general chicken were both gross and I preferred the buggy soup to either.

Fantastic Mandarin/Szechuan style Chinese food. Not too greasy, not too salty. A little weak in the true vegetarian department, but the seafood dishes are fantastic. The standard dishes (broccoli beef, cashew chicken, sweet and sour pork) are all equally as tasty and easy to share. Try the cheese puffs, youll want more, guaranteed!

The food is good but the service is terrible. The waiter has forgotten about people all the time. We got seated and 3 minutes laters a different person got seated across from the waiter came over and took his order before giving us waters. The other person got his food ate his and got a togo plater before they ever took our orders
