The bartender would not serve me because I looked too "intoxicated". He then served my friend two drinks even though the bartender knew that my friend was going to give me a beer. My friend even asked me what kind of beer I wanted. For the record I was not intoxicated. My pupils were not dilated and I did not slur my words or any other of the obvious signs of intoxication. My friends were very obviously intoxicated but the bartender had no issue serving them. The beer selection was good, the crowd was good but the service was far from exemplary. I asked three questions and the bartender seemed very put out by the fact that he had to answer these questions. My friends were very aware of the fact that they were way more intoxicated then I was but they were still served. I feel like the staff needs more training in how to spot someone who has had too much. If the staff reads these reviews they will obviously disagree but they would be sorely mistaken.

A lot of history here. Grew up in Seattle and saw this place open. Great beer and ambiance. An original. Moved away some time ago, visiting every few years and this place is still the same, feels like home. Its been at least 2 years since my last visit and it didnt disappoint. One thing I wasnt all impressed with was the food. Pulled pork sandwich took a long time to prepare, and when served bun was hard due to over heating and obviously sitting too long. Pork was tough, stringy, and very bland. As a result the sandwich was dry and flavorless, though I was hungry and it wasnt inedible. But beer was great per usual and it hasnt changed in feel at all.

I have mixed feelings about this brewery. It has a very odd feel to it. It feels less like a brewery and more of a smoothie shop or a late night pizza-by-the-slice shop. If I hadnt been specifically looking for Outer Planet Craft Brewing, I would have never seen it nor expected it to be where it was, in the middle of a residential block. My wife and I tried three beers between the two of us. None were exceptionally special which was a bit of a letdown because we had just come from Optimism Brewing down the way and had really enjoyed the space and their beer. +Free pretzels +Self-service tap water +Bike racks directly in front of the brewery

Big Time is one of my favorite places on the Ave to get drinks. The atmosphere is very open to just sit around with a couple of friends and have a nice long chat over a beer. The guys making the food are really nice and it seems as if its the same three guys every time I go in there. The beer itself is also among the best on the Ave. All of the beer is from the brewery itself, so its all unique. You can never go wrong with an Atlas Amber. If you want, you can also get an affordable keg from these guys. You can get a half keg for about 65$ which is a bit more than your typical beer, but its a much higher quality beer.

To be clear, this is a relatively upscale bar on The Ave with mostly MBA/Graduate students. I visited at about 7:00pm on a Wed after a long day of classes and work. The $9.99 Turkey Avavado, Bacon, Havarti sandwich I had was great. All of the beers on tap I ordered were reasonably priced pitchers. Definitely an older age and more restaurant-esque vibe than Earls or Finn MacCools.

Here is where the beer consumed is the ale made on premise. Here is where you go to enjoy a pint or a pitcher even if the winter ales are strong enough to sweetly rub out any memories of the evening by the time you grab a bus home. Here is where you go to the bar for beer and another to order their pizza (welcome Washington Byzantine alcohol laws). Here is, in a word, great.

Whenever I visit Seattle, I have to go to the Big Time. I went there every Friday when I was in grad school for the Friday Afternoon "Physics Seminar" (yes, we actually discussed physics in between the many pitchers of beer). The Big Time remains one of my comfort paces. The food is awesome, the beers even better. And personally, I like the grungy, college bar aura.

Big Time has become my home-away-from-home when Im in the U District. Whether its my go-to IPA or one of their many specialty brews, the beer is top notch. The food is always good, with the pizza being one of the best Ive had in Seattle. Add to this a super-friendly staff and comfortable old surroundings and you have Big Time Brewery!

Went here back in September 2016, all I truly have to say is I never had an issue the entire time. The food was great we tried just about everything on the menu (big party). The beers were cold and tasted even better. Best beer by far was Its a TRAPP, very nice brew with high alcohol but didnt taste over powering at all.

We were with a larger group and there was a great spot in back where we were able to sit together. Several ordered pizzas and everyone seemed happy with those. We ordered nachos though, and were pretty disappointed. They were over baked and really light on the toppings. Still a fun place and Id definitely go back!

The Brewery was an inviting place to go in a rainy night in October ! It was a short walk from our hotel and seemed to be a pretty popular place for locals! Their beers were decent and the pizza was pretty good!

Great place for a casual time out with friends. If you have a large group you can reserve tables at the back. Good selection of beers on tap. Only down side is that it tends to get little crowded on weekends.

Good pub food and a good beer selection in a place that is pleasant to be in with pleasant waitstaff. The food is classic pub fare for when you just need spicy nachos or some bomb pizza with your beer.

Note: the food menu has recently changed! The beer is good (their amber, porter, and cider are particularly notable) and their food is pretty diverse for pub fare. Great place to meet with friends.

Rudest service ever. Sorry if Im not hip enough for your place. I just LOVE being judged and ignored because I am Asian-American. And your food is lousy. I will never return.

Came here for lunch today and we are leaving happy and full! The Ruben was awesome, the corn beef was juicy. The fries are to die for! Crispy and breaded to perfection! Yum!

Slow service, ok beers and three times going here I wont anyone after the same kind of service each time. Look somewhere else on University Avenue to eat and drink.

Very friendly staff and nice selection of beers. Have to go back and try more. Just missed a couple more of food options. Very limited meat (protein) food options.

Lackluster everything. I have been here 3 times, and have never left satisfied. There are plenty of great bars in Seattle, so dont settle for this one.

I had the turkey, bacon, havarti on sourdough with fries, it was INCREDIBLE!!! And they have the BEST ranch dressing!! I cant wait to go back-

As far as beers go, one of my favorite Seattle breweries. The food isnt anything fancy, but a great place to stop and get a few pints.
