I purchased a $75 wristband for a music festival in Pioneer Square last night. It included entry into all the local venues with live music including Elysian Fields. I am a 40-something yr old professional female out with 3 other 40-something females (as opposed to drunken-20-somethings out raving) enjoying an evening of live music. I was conservatively dressed and enjoyed 2 glasses of wine with a full dinner earlier and a cocktail at Trinity just before walking to Elysian Fields. When we approach the entry to Elysian, the 20-something door-guy employee singles me out to ask how much Ive had to drink. I tell him 3 drinks and he refuses to allow me entry. My 3 friends walk right in and we are briefly separated. I was stunned, insulted, humiliated, and royally pissed after spending so much $$ for the festival wristband. We couldnt figure out for the life of us why he singled me out? Lets see, we were all laughing and enjoying our evening and each others company. Needless to say, I will never again patronize this establishment. I have spent many fun nights at the sister-establishment on Capital Hill. I will however, make one final trip there to file a complaint to the manager in person. Today.

This place has a huge bar and dining area, and is good for a quick drink at the bar before or after a game down the street - thats probably about it though. First off, the place was nearly empty but the host wouldnt seat us because we only had 3 out of 9 people in attendance. They suggested we wait at the bar. I find that a bit ridiculous of a policy, especially since everyone was 10 minutes out and the place was empty. To make matters worse, we wanted to wait outside as it was a nice day on the patio, but we werent allowed to do that either because the host knew we would be moving when our party arrived - and therefore we could sit at the bar ONLY while we waited. Again, the patio had plenty of room!! Secondly, the service is sub par. Server is very nice but its obvious they cannot keep up for a medium/large party like this. Nobody would allow us to add another table, so we were packed into a 6 person table. Finally, a majority of the food is not so good. The eggplant sandwhich was really bad - the appetizers were doable but it would come with not enough chips/bread often, leaving lots of food left in the plate. 2/5 would not go again.

Considering that they had the same limited menu for years, I was actually excited to see what the remodel would have to offer. Well, we got a new menu, but we also got a pretentious chef who obviously thinks he operates a Michelin Star restaurant instead of a bar that serves food. In the event you happen to make the mistake of asking for tartar sauce for your fish tacos, or mayo for your burger, not to worry...the chef is there to let you know your request is stupid and he knows what you want more then you do! But in all fairness, I dont wear kaffiyehs, skinny jeans, eat kale chips or put oils in my beard, so maybe I just dont get it. Im actually just a normal guy who works in the area and is often looking for a quick meal at a good deal, so I think I will just go elsewhere next time.

I went to Elysian Fields after the menu update and I will not be returning - higher prices for unnecessarily complicated "bar food." It felt as though a recent culinary school graduate wanted to show off their skills by totally revamping the menu. If a chef wants to make fancy food they should work for a cocktail bar, not a brewery. I wanted a burger, but instead I was presented with some overdressed ridiculous thing with zucchini relish and lemon aioli. The chef couldnt even leave the condiments alone; the ketchup was a blackberry sambal ketchup so it had a fruity tang that didnt pair well with fries. Theres a time and a place for this kind of creativity but in a bar next thats a popular pre-game watering hole it just comes off as pretentious.

Went here well before a Seahawks pre-season game so the place wasnt too crowded... but from what I hear this place can get pretty packed before games during the regular season. The food was delicious and the beer was incredible (exactly what I expected from this place). The restaurant was great on the inside and they had the garage doors open which brought in a nice breeze. My only complaints would have to be with our waitstaff who seemed to forget about us a few times. Im sure its not a chronic problem as other waitstaff would come by every now and then and ask if someone was actually taking care of us. Hopefully next time our server/beer fetcher will be better and I can revise the score for the Service.

I stopped in before the game on 8/20 and sat at the bar. There were three people working behind the bar and not one acknowledged my presence when I sat down. After several minutes and others getting served, I had flag someone down. Not a smile, nothing...just poured my beer and handed me a menu and continued her conversation with her coworkers. I then had to flag her down again to take my food order. I was sitting right next to the server station and the other employees were loudly complaining about their jobs and their customers. One young man even declared, "If I could afford it Id walk out right now." Really?? The beer was good, the steak salad was great, but the service...ugh.

I went in here for the first time prior to a Mariners game with a group of 5 people. We were directed to the bar area and sat down before being asked to move down a couple tables because the table wasnt in the bar. We then asked a server if we could push two tables together at our current spot; the server said yes followed by another server coming by 2 minutes later telling us that we cant do that. After I explained we were told it was alright by somebody else he just walked away. Then we get approached by security and are asked to move to another table because the servers or managers or whoever they were cant communicate with their team on a game day that really wasnt that busy.

Came in with a large group before a concert at Safeco Field. Waited over 2 hours for a table the hostess told us it would be an hour. Once we got to our table and ordered we waited 45 minutes then asked how much longer for food, we were told another 15 minutes but we could cancel the order. We canceled the order paid for our drinks and left 3 hours after ariving without food. Considering their location big crowds for scheduled events should not be a problem. Thanks to Henrys beer garden we were able to eat before the show.

Went their for a work lunch last week with colleagues. Server was very rushed, inattentive and curt. When we asked her to clear some of our appetizer plates, we had shared an order of mussels, she ignored us at first. We finally had to get a different server to clear them. One colleague, along with myself, ordered the steak salad. The steak was cooked perfectly, but the whole thing was drenched in a very tart balsamic dressing. Otherwise the rest of our food was good.
