We recently went back to the Chantanee after their closure and move to the new location in Bellevue. Finding the new place was a bit confusing and hard to find, the new decor fits Bellevue and doesnt really fit the clientel. We were frequent customers of their old location, visiting 3-4 times a month and always had great meals. This time around we found their standard dish was bumped up to be called family size and an extra $5-7 tacked on to the price. Their single service dishes which is about the size of my fist were $8-9 in price. The family size is really a dish that can be shared between two people here, certainly not a table of six such as we had. The raised prices are ridiculous and food quality has gone downhilll. They changed their pad thai recipe which is too sweet and most of their curries are just curry sauce and meat with no veggies unless you want to pay extra. A huge disappointment to our favorite Thai place in all of Seattle and this will likely be our last. Its interesting they wanted to go after the bar crowd in Bellevue, however the bar was a ghost town with not a single person on a Friday night. Their happy hour of $9 appetizers is also a rip off. I can understand they need to pay for their remodel, but ripping off their loyal customers isnt the way to do it and I can see this place not making it within a years time.

Ever since I moved away from Bellevue nearly 10 years ago, Chantanee has held a special position in my mind as the best Thai Restaurant I know of in the United States ... from Los Angeles (Palms Thai is awesome), to Chicago, to Vegas (Lotus of Siam .. of course), to New York, I never found any better. For the past 5 years, Ive been a permanent resident in Bangkok so, I was curious to see how Chantanee would match up to my hometown favorites. Would my perspective change? In short, no. While the restaurant has gone decided up-scale like the rest of Bellevue, the Yum Neua (beef salad) remains the best Ive ever eaten .. anywhere. I also sampled the Panang Curry. The flavors were very authentic and the ingredients of the absolute highest quality. The 5 star spice rating does bring good heat but certainly its not Thai Hot. I wouldnt ever say that this restaurant serves the food too spicy to those who really know Thai food. I wish I had more time to sample more of the menu which has expanded to include some unusual fusion dishes involving lamb ... thats something you wont see in Thailand. I very highly recommend Chantanee.

HAIR IN MY FOOD. Let me start by saying, I have NEVER had a dining experience as awful as this one. I went to Chantanee for lunch, with the assumption that it would be busy- so that didnt bother me. But when we get sat at our table and wait 30 mins for a waitress to come around, that was bothersome. When she came to our table, we were ready to order everything (drinks included) just to speed up the time since it was a lunch break. She scoffed that we wanted to order everything at once, as if we were rushing her. Drinks were fine- bartender likes to use a lot of ice (so make sure to not get on the rocks if you want your moneys worth) I ordered the Thai Royal Curry- and it tasted great until MULTIPLE LONG BLACK HAIRS WERE FOUND. wrapped around the vegetables- so it was obvious it came from the kitchen. They didnt offer anything to us, instead we insisted that we werent paying for the drinks (we had already paid for lunch since we were in a hurry) but the drinks were on a seperate tab. Never going back. Such a disgusting experience!!

We had a to go order of tom kha soup,Massaman Lamb Curry,Panang Duck Curry. The soup was supposed to be level 2 spicy, however it was horrible hot and wneh I say hot, I really mean it, even my boyfriend who is Indian could not eat it and I guess all other taste is lost in the fire of chilies. the Duck dish, was just horribly deep fried, hard as a rock piece of meat with some tasteless noodles.I do not know if this is supposed to taste like that but if I were you I would consider tasting that dish before including it in the menu. The good thing about the curry was the few pieces lamb which were tender, but the curry was overwhelmed with sweet and salty spices. And then , not to mention the oil on top which was considerable amount. I am sorry for the bad review , probably these dishes were not the best for my taste. For first time I felt like writing a feedback since everything ended up in the food disposal soon after we picked it up and $ 60 were missing from my pocket for that incredible sound of the disposal and my stomach.

as many people said, good food with horrible to rude service. we went there for lunch, and yes is pretty packed. the hostess ignored us for 10 minutes, in passing she said "one minute please" while i saw here just chatting with people while there where available tables. new people came in jumping in front, so we got tired and just sat down at one of the outside tables. 10 minutes later a super rude waiter came in to ask us why we didnt had any menus and did we talked to the hostess. he just ignored our explanation that we did waited a long time and we didnt jumped the line. he didnt care, so i just let. dont go

NOT RECOMMENDED! This place has gone considerably downhill. It was certainly among the poorest customer service experience we have ever had. The guy who tried to seat us (some one called Chris) acted very rude and made us feel unwelcome. We indicated that there was no need for such behavior but the guy got more rude and was unapolegetic. We eventually walked out. It used to be OK. We had been twice before. Cant believe it is the same place. The parking is also a big hassle Overall a "HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT".

Went there with my wife last week. I loved the crowd, music and the environment, and I wish more restaurants invested into their interiors like that place. Their Pat Thai was good, but they brought me a wrong order. I asked them for Seased Salmon sushi, repeated it twice, but they gave me sushi rolls. I decided not to bother asking for sushi the third time. Still dont understand why they put ginger in each roll - it kills all the fish taste. The overall impression from the experience was good.

Excellent restaurant with excellent food and service. I took my wife on her birthday for a dinner at Chantanee Thai Restaurant and Bar and it was a splendid experience. My wife and I both are vegeterian and were awed with the vegeterian menu - a rare thing to find. The service was great - very hospitable staff and they took care of a little celebration knowing it was my wifes birthday. Food is awesome and I will go there many more times. Thanks folks for the wonderful experience.

The restaurants seafood in pad Thai is not fresh. When I argue with the manager, he blamed us eating most of the noodle. I told him we eat the noodle first and he kept saying we ate the most of it which is not the point of the problem! The problem is the seafood is not fresh. So I want to tell every body not go to the restaurant ever. They did not make good Thai food anymore! ! The manager is so rude!!! I have never met this kind of restaurant in bellevue! !
