This is a dive. Its probably great for dinner or lunch, but we were there for breakfast. It was way too dark and felt like I would feel after an evening of drinking too much--dusty, musty, and stale. The waitress was competent. The french toast was awful with strawberries on top that had to be canned--in May in the Northwest--which is ridiculous. They were partially dissolved. For $9, I expected more than 3 slices of overly dry wonder bread styled french toast and a less than fresh splotch of berries. I could have gotten considerably better at IHOP or Dennys for a few bucks less. The coffee was retched. The Bloody Mary was passable, but I expected more since we were in a bar. The website made it seem there was a garden view, but the plastic chairs in the closed off courtyard hardly seemed worth it, nor were they offered. Overall, there are not many options on Mercer Island, but I would never come back for breakfast. I might try a pint in the evening though.

In contrast to the ever-foppier, culturally-inspired places opening up all over downtown, Capitol Hill, Queen Anne and surrounding areas, the Roanoke Inn provides a necessary dose of relaxation and simple but tasty eats. While this kind of place probably wouldnt earn a second look in a small town, its proximity to I-90, a popular commuter route, bicycle trail and several great parks means that there are several good reasons to stop in. Expect polite, efficient and accurate service. A solid menu of traditional American diner favorites (sandwiches, burgers, salads, etc) is nicely complimented by a good selection of beers on tap. My order of a chicken club sandwich and fries was more than enough to satisfy my twenty-something taste buds and was reasonably priced. Large portions seem the norm so cyclists beware of overeating! All told, this is a very decent place and Ill be returning soon after a run/ride/drive over the bridge!

I love the environment of this place, dive bar-ish, yet upbeat and with fantastic outdoor seating! The draft beer selection even though small (I think about 6 rotating taps, and 4 permanent taps), has some of the most incredible and hard to find micro brews, comparable to any other great beer selection found in the greater seattle area. The Roanoke also has a substantial bottled beer list. The food menu is quite diverse, and is very average in some regards (reuben), and good in others (nachos, all the burgers), and fantastic in yet others (steak sandwhich!!). Service is hit and miss, sometimes its perfect, sometimes its SLOW!!

The service was terrible way too crowded for the 3 waiters that were there, waiter did not come for almost 45min just to take the drink order, and then another 45 min to bring them out. The food was mediocre At best. I wasnt asked how I wanted my steak cooked and I would have guessed it was a pre-cooked frozen steak, I ordered a second beer and it never came. At this point we were happy to leave. I will never recommend and will never go back to this place. Not worth the drive

Great place for brunch on the weekends, or dinner any night. Options for the whole family and for any budget. They have everything from a nice steak to a simple burger. Mostly bar food, but also sports a nice array of homestyle, comfort-type foods. Terrific drink selection with rotating taps every week. Atmosphere is nice, great outdoor seating options and a friendly staff make it a great spot. Not a lot of parking and can get crowded fast. Casual attire.

Good local bar with decent food and beer choices. Decent amount of seating but popular and fills up. Warm weather opens up the outside which is nice. They have some games like corn hole in the back. Staff are friendly enough and service is prompt. Never have an issue there other than parking. Can be a bit tight if there is an event across the street. 25mph residential road too so watch for cops and bikers. Both are frequent.

Many ales on tap that I am not familiar with, but the server suggested one and I liked it. My BLTA was served on sourdough bread that was very dry even after just lightly toasted. The side of coleslaw was tastier than the sandwich. I was in a group of 5 and it was difficult to hear what everyone was saying. Parking is hard to find. I got there at 5:30 and got the next to last spot in the back parking lot.

Nobody knows what happened to Roanoke, except that it was overrun in the late 1800s by British colonists seeking to copulate with Pocahontas. To this day, the Roanoke mystery remains one deeply debated by scientists and chemists from all around the world. Thankfully, the Roanoke Inn has revealed the true story behind this Lost Colony. Thank you, Sacagawea!

We had some friends stay here before while they were on a trip. When we visited them, the rooms were very nicely kept and the staff was always ready to help out. Since they seem to be on top of things, there wasnt too much to ask the front desk for; everything was stocked and in great order in the rooms. The beds are very comfortable as well.

Great little hidden spot on Mercer Island. Tons of history and has been operating on the island for over 100 years. Great outdoor seating, good service and good food. A good little spot to go for after work drinks or lunch on the weekend. Have not been back for breakfast on the weekend, but it is on my list.

Service isnt very nice or quick, food is mediocre, and even though we had reservations for our group, the "table" was two small tables put together that made it really hard to get out, and tight enough that we had to keep our arms in front of us when eating to avoid bumping a friend.

Its a dive, but its our dive. Food is good but is getting pricey. Great beer selection coupled with a terrible juke box, an ancient laminate interior, and small rooms. In good weather you can sit outside. A favorite.

This is one of my favorite "hidden gems" - great beers, good food, and in the summer, the outside seating on the lawn is like hanging out in your best friends well manicured lawn with food and beverage service! ;-)

Great beer selection and tasty food! I dont always go, but when I do it is after work at 6:30 and it is crowded. Never enough parking. Servers are kind, but not all star talent.

I had a couple hours to kill while my daughter was at Volleball. A local suggested the Ronoke for a burger and a glass of wine. What a great find (if you can find it)

If you find yourself on the Island thirsty this is the place to go. Tacky decorating but the food is good, drinks are strong and the service done with a side of sass.

Great local neighborhood restaurant/bar to grab a bite and a drink. Particularly popular spot to stop if youre riding the bike trail between Bellevue and Seattle.

Its authentic. Legitimately good pub food (try the chili), although the interior scene is a little too Affair With The Tennis Pro on some nights Ive been there.

The portions are declining faster than the sunshine in Seattle, yet the prices are bullish. I dont mind high prices if the portion sizes remain flat over time

Wonderful place. Food and service were great and loved the outdoor seating. It was almost like having a private dining experience. Highly recommened.
