Food was okay, but maybe pizza is their stronger suit. This seems geared for families. Service has some quirks to work out. Benefit of the doubt to being new and overwhelmed by a slammed house. Detailed overview of exactly why I gave 3 ★s: One bar tender was on duty for a packed house and the hostess had to ask her permission to seat outside; we were denied, and I suppose the bartender is responsible for serving that entire area on top of her drink duties of filling table orders; a runner could help make her job much more proficient as she was returning dinner plates to the kitchen for correction. Waited a good deal to order a beer and was denied drinks for my father and wife; she had to see them before I could be served; I felt as if we were at Chuck-E-Cheese minus the dancing mouse, which is fine as many families were there and it seemed to cater to that demographic. I dont take being carded as an insult or anything (ABC laws are strict and the bar tender wants to keep her job and not compromise the license), but having to prove who the extra drinks were going to is annoying. I could see it if I were 21 and continuously returned for extra rounds. Since two more drinks would be another 30 minutes, I decided to order from our table. On that note, PROPS TO THE BARTENDER, she was overwhelmed and none of my complaints were her fault, she actually made a chocolate martini for my wife which was not on the menu and she made it well; my wife is very picky. Food menu was massive, but if you like that then go for it. We ordered Phillies and an Asian chicken salad. They were served in a reasonable time for how full the restaurant was. The Phillies didnt come with peppers standard; they werent bad, but werent anything to write home about. The salad seemed absent of chicken; about a chicken tender worth sprinkled over a mountain of lettuce. If we come back I think well stick to the pizza. Ynot has grown in the area and seems very successful, so I am not sure if our complaints are shared by anyone. Yeah, we ordered Phillies at a pizza place, but with their renown success we figured they were on the menu for a good reason. Bring your kids, let them eat whatever they can imagine and have a beer once per hour. Sorry yall, but its not for me.

Visited based on a recommendation from someone in our hotel and because we love Italian cuisine. Service was great and friendly and the portion size was large, but we felt the food was lacking in flavor. We had the garlic knot appetizer, which was decent. I had the chicken parm with spaghetti and the sauce was very thin and plain. The side salad would have been delicious with some quality Italian dressing. I had the olive oil and vinegrette that my sever raved about, but it was too bland for my liking. I then tried the Italian (not homemade) and it wasnt any better. My children had the spaghetti with meatball kids meals. Honestly the meatball must be an acquired taste from there. I tried it after their complaints and it was very heavy on the fennel. The texture was like potted meat meets meatball. My husbands sub was very lack luster with just chicken and cheese, for the price I think some onions and peppers would have made it far more appealing. The service is great, the atmosphere is wonderful, and with a little flavor tweeking this would be a great Italian eatery. I would classify this as more of an American Italian versus true Italian flavor.

YNot is incredibly hit or miss. When its good, its great...but when its bad, its truly awful. Tonight was an awful one. I ordered the Create Your Own Pasta (chicken penne alfredo that for some reason doesnt COME with a salad, you have to order one separately even though every other entree comes with one) and it was terrible - COVERED in parmesan cheese, which I dont eat, and the sauce had a very odd tang to it. I took two bites, trying to eat it, and told the waitress it was terrible. I asked for a cheesesteak with mushrooms and onions to go, since by this point the rest of my family was done eating. A few minutes later we got our bag of food, the alfredo was taken off and we left...little did I know that what theyd given me was a slice of cheese pizza with raw mushrooms and onions just thrown on it. Completely unacceptable. Its got to be a managerial thing, but I for one will NOT be trusting YNot again. Just aint worth the hassle.

Can I leave 10 stars?! But really, you wont be disappointed coming to Ynot Kempsville. My husband and I have been coming here quite a bit since moving to the area and typically always get Matt ( hes really tall). Let me tell you about this amazing server: he actually makes that connection with his customers. He knows my husband and I from how often we come in, and recently I was diagnosed with Celiacs disease, meaning strict gluten free diet. Ynot is one of the only restaurants in the area I can still come to because they have a GF menu. And a tasty menu at that! So even though I cant have my old favorites anymore, Matt took the time to walk me through the GF menu. My new favorite is their GF vegetarian pizza! Thank you Matt and the Kempsville Ynot staff for providing a cross contamination FREE dining experience! You have the Gluten Free stamp of approval!

Recommended by a local, I decided to give Ynot Italian - Kempsville during my trip to LA a try. Back in Dallas, there arent many places offering acai bowls, but boy, when I first tried Ynot Italian - Kempsville, I was immediately hooked! Acai bowls have been a health fad for a while now, and I can see why. These bowls are full of vitamins and antioxidants, but the best part is that they taste like ice cream! Additionally, the texture and consistency of the acai bowls are on point -- smooth and not too icey or watered down. These bowls come with a variety of toppings such as honey, fruits and granola. While it doesnt seem like much, these bowls will keep you full for a while! Overall, these acai bowls are refreshing, delicious and definitely a treat, making them the perfect breakfast choice or post-workout snack!

BAD...My family and I dined at y not a few times. Seems every time the food gets worse and the price goes up. One example , me and my son were there 2 days ago to grab a quick slice and one drink. The bill was 8.62. Now if the pizza was good i would not complain on the forum. The slices were terrible. Tasted like thick cardboard. a scant amount of sauce. Just some thick dough and a slab of cheeze. I will add the waitress was very cold and when asked for a refill it took her 10 minuites. I would not recommend this resuraunt unless you like fancy decor, bad food and price gouging. This was the volvo parkway resturaunt. Maybe the va beach one is better.

Visiting from out of town, we picked this place because of the ratings and was very pleased with the results. The food was awesome and the service was great!! My children have food allergies and the waitress Julie was great with double checking to make sure the food was free of what they where allergic to. She also ask me if I had allergies when I ordered my food. We had an bad experience in the past at a different restaurant when the waitress assumed and my son had to take benadryl. We will be back. Whenever we visit the beach area. My husband wish there was one on the Peninsula.
