Myself, my fiance and our best friend were looking for a decent place to eat this Sunday. After checking online and seeing a positive rating for Side Street, we decided to try it. We arrived just a little after 5 pm. Several people at the bar, only two groups seated in the dining area. No one at the hosts stand. After standing around awkwardly for several minutes, we decided to seat ourselves thinking maybe that was the protocol on Sundays. The waitstaff didnt come by with menus, instead they remained seated by the back wall in plain sight chatting and checking their cell phones. We had to get our own menus from the hosts stand. Finally, an unapologetic waiter came by and took our drink and meal orders. He sauntered off slowly to put them in. They paid little attention to our table nor did they ask if we needed anything, including refills. The food was decent and came out in a more timely manner which temporarily distracted us from the bad service. After finishing, we waited for our check. Our waiter cruised around the restaurant, ate a lemon (...yep.), and stood out front with another employee chatting/smoking. We had to wave him down to let him know we were done. We paid and left displeased enough to write a review to warn others. If you enjoy being taken care of by a friendly waitstaff when you go out for a bite, go elsewhere!

Went to this place Saturday night February 13th 2016 my fiancé ordered a beer they brought it to him in the can with a lime laying on top of the can so unprofessional he had to ask for a glass I ordered the Texas fajitas chicken and shrimp the shrimp wasnt cooked long enough just awful the chicken was dried out my fiancé ordered 3 tacos with rice and beans he got sick after we got back to our hotel he was really sick the next day on Sunday his stomach wasnt feeling right and he had loose stools all day I would not recommend anyone to this place ever the only thing that was good to me is the sweet tea I ordered thats why I gave it 1 star the waiter didnt come around to at the end of the meal when he seen we wasnt eating the rest of our food then he took my cup to go refill it I told him I didnt want anything else but the check

The stuff on the menu sounded pretty basic to me, but it was actually better than expected. The bowl of guacamole for the table is freshly made and well worth it (but dont pay the extra the dollars to have them make it in front of you.) I got a burrito (misspelled on their menu as burrifo, lol!) and it was massive. Complimentary freshly fried tortilla chips on the table. Staff was... Attentive, but not that welcoming. Beer selection is TERRIBLE. Drafts included Blue Moon and Landshark. That is all. Ugh. FYI, I went in the second week of November for dinner and it was pretty quiet. Sports on the TVs and some fun art on the wall. Its decent, but the beer selection is a big loss for me.

My boyfriend and I came here from New York and I absolutely love everything that we had!! He ordered the enchiladas (one bean, chicken, beef, cheese) and the mango margarita/smoothie. I ordered the Carnitas (with tortillas, guacamole salad, rice and beans) and a peach margarita/smoothie and a Corona. Our waitress Kathy was so attentive, and our food came out in literally 10-15 minutes after ordering. Needless to say we had to go back to our hotel after eating to take a nap but everything was perfect! Best Mexican food Ive had year to date. We will definitely be making the visit to come back down.

Went for the first time 2 weeks ago and the food was delicious! I got the chicken chimichanga and the ranchero red sauce they put on top was so good! My husband and I dont like going to the oceanfront much because you have to pay for parking but this place was worth it. The service wasnt that great thats why I only gave 4 stars. Our waiter seemed more concerned with talking with his buddies at the bar than waiting on us much but the food was amazing. So I for sure recommend this place, just come in to relax and enjoy the food and drinks, dont expect the nicest, most concerned waiter.

Terrible service and sub par food. Told me they didnt have guacamole to add to my nachos along with the little bit of sour cream and lettuce they called pico d gallo because they didnt have any avacados. Then I see some dude making guacamole at other tables as some type of entertainment. I asked the bar tender/waiter and he said oh yeah those avacados are for the show. I have never posted a review about food before but this place put me off enough to try and inform others. Save your time and money! I would not go back again.

Went for lunch today & everything was amazing!! Great service, great food. Table side guacamole was excellent!! Our meal was good & chips & salsa was really god, definitely homemade, and it was also served w/a creamy spicy ranch kind of sauce that was delicious! Margarita was good, not very strong though, but I dont like them very strong :) My daughters kept asking for a drink of my marg so the waiter brought her a little virgin one, it was do nice of him and she was in heaven!

Went on Cinco De Mayo with my girlfriend. We went up to the bar and the bartender (Male) immediately makes eye contact with her. We wait for around 10 minutes as he serves other girls who come up after her avoiding eye contact with her. She tried to flag him down again and he just continued doing his thing. The bar was not in any way shape or form packed. I have been to many bars and clubs i dont understand what his issue was. Not how you treat your patrons. Will not be back.

The staff is like Superman when it comes to serving we had our food within 12 minutes and it was a packed house drinks with in 2 minutes, and the food was beyond delicious I would recommend this from any of the places weve been up and down Virginia Beach strip, amazing how just some little corner place can blow away the huge competition!!!! fast, ....you have no idea until you come here. The food and location are awesome! Rice and beans were great and their pico de gallo was awesome! My husband had a burrito and was impressed. The service was only so-so and the place had a bit of a surfer beach feel to it which we enjoy. Only thing that was odd is that when they served the chips and salsa, they only served the white salsa, not the traditional red salsa which we found a bit odd. Otherwise it was a good experience.

Food was awesome. Quality Mexican. I ordered the steak quesadilla, and the tie-dye margarita. The food was cooked perfectly and bursting with flavor. Probably one of the best quesadillas Ive had. The portions were generous so I was unable to finish it. The tie-dye margarita was mixed well but a little on the strong side. The atmosphere was welcoming and colorful. I would definately come here again.
