A note to state before my review. I arrived at 8:30 when they close at 9:30. However that should not have impacted quality of service. I chose this place after reading reviews and craving some sushi and ramen. I chose the pork shio ramen with hot sake along with a selection of Eel, Squid, Salmon, and California roll. I always order there rolls at new sushi places because theyre generally good staples. Upon arrival everything was wonderfully plated. However after starting with the sushi, I found disappointment. Not only did all the fish taste old and fishy, but half the nigiri would not stick to its rice. Didnt help that they had these large decorative, but useless chopsticks. The squid and eel were very chewy. I then moved on to my ramen which looked great. But as soon as I sampled the broth I was just let down. While it seemed others complained about theirs being over salted, mine had practically no flavor. The noodles tasted cheap and sub-par. I continued to struggle with the chopsticks and got through most of the meal ok but disappointed. Meanwhile my server is consistently rushing me and asking if Im done yet about 4 or 5 times. She also forgot my hot sake until about half way through my meal. At the end I had the tempura cheesecake which by contrast was delicious (but then again, its fried dessert, not hard to get right). Finally at the end around 9:15 the check was given to me unasked for. I had planned to order another drink but decided against it since clearly they wanted me out. I understand that people want to close on time and want to get started and I was ready to leave before 9:30. But if those are your open hours then be on call for work. I dont expect courtesy if I was to stay after open hours but if your door says 9:30, then its then. Note though. I never arrive at a restaurant that I plan to dine in at and later than an hour to close. Point is, while the atmosphere and location are nice and the dessert is as well, they are overshadowed by lazy flavorless ramen and old sushi. All at much too high a cost for their quality and service

The boyfriend and I dropped by Kizuna one evening for some much-needed ramen. Weve been to most of the ramen joints in the metropolitan area and were always excited to try new ramen spots that pop up. The interior of the restaurant is really nice. The ambiance is warm and inviting, appropriately Asian-themed. Lots of seating varying from a long sushi bar, booths, as well as a bar in the back. Quite the makeover from the previous restaurant, Konami. For food, I ordered the tonkotsu ramen ($13) which came with two pieces of pork belly chashu. I requested an add-on of the hanjuku lava egg ($1.50). Flavor-wise, broth is not too bad but noodles were overcooked. Egg and chashu were both fine. Bowl of ramen also comes with charred garlic oil, bamboo shoots, bean sprouts, pickled ginger, scallions, and nori. The charred garlic oil is delish and makes the broth more flavorful. Overall, a fairly average bowl of ramen but Ive definitely had worse. Service was quick and efficient but maybe thats because we were sitting at the bar. Our server/bartender was very accommodating though, replenishing our drinks and quickly giving us more pickled ginger upon our request.

The décor was modern and the service was fine. My dining partners and I thought the gyoza were great, but the mixed tempura entrée we ordered as an appetizer was underwhelming; the best way to describe the tempura shrimp was "flaccid." We ordered a few varieties of sushi and sashimi, and the fish was incredibly fresh and delicious. The sushi did fall a bit short, as the rice was a bit too cold and underdone on the sushi rolls. Id stick with just nigiri sushi or sashimi. We all enjoyed the ramen bowls we ordered (miso and pork shoyu). Not there type of ramen youd find at an authentic ramen shop, but tasty in its own right. The noodles in the ramen were the right balance of soft and chewy, with a generous serving in each bowl. I do wish it had been served a bit hotter. I dont think Id return as I didnt find it to be anything special and its a bit far for me, but I wouldnt write Kizuna off. If I were in the area and had a hankering for ramen or sashimi, I might give it another go.

Okay, my boss and I walk into this place. I.did not expect much but typical Japanese food. The ambiance is a little different, kinda like Chinese New Year in China town. In any case, we ordered the Ramen soup......OMG!!! IT WAS AMAZING! We asked for the spicy garnish to add to the soup, and OMG!! It was the BEST!! The service is great, although, the one waiter was doing all the work, running around doing everything, and management or other staff just were just hanging around doing nothing, but socializing. Kinda strange, we expected our beverages to be refilled without waiting for our waiter. None the less, we will be returning, this will be our weekly spot. We will ask for.the same waiter, nice guy, he was Eastern European, never got his name. He was great!

Stopped by here for dinner last night and left wanting more. I ordered the Kizuna Ramen, Chashu and the Poke rolls. I enjoyed the noodles, but the broth was lacking flavor. I think the chef tossed in some of the pork belly and assumed that was going to give the entire soup its flavor. Poke rolls were over priced and insulting. You cant call it Poke when just mash fish together and not have any of the Poke flavors. Chashu was the highlight. Large pieces of pork belly cooked well with their house sauce. I came here to support the new business and they had a Groupon coupon. Ill be back to try some of their happy hour specials. But this isnt a place that youll go out of the way for and lack of creativity from the chefs may affect future business.

WOW WOW WOW!!!! I fell in love with this place my first time here. Maybe I just lucked out and ordered the only good things on the menu and everything stinks, but I doubt that is the case. This is my first time going to a restaurant that serves both sushi and ramen and both are 1st rate. Usually I find that the quality of one is sacrificed for the other. This is some of the best ramen and sushi Ive had not counting my binge eating in Tokyo, Japan. The O-toro melted in my mouth. The abaebi was so sweet and delicious. The ramen had such depth and complexity of flavor in the broth. The noodles were springy and hearty. I had nothing bad to say about this place other than I cant go there often cause I live in Atlanta, GA.

The Kizuna ramen is just a total surprise. They dont put salt in the broth, its debatable for many who claims it to be too bland. But I like it because its all pork bone based broth with all the flavor naturally brought out of the ingredients, they cook it long enough to create slightly gelled texture in the broth which I also like. Probably could get even better if they let customers adjust the saltiness themselves, but I guess it might create more trouble than theyd like. The noodle is bigger than it seems because of the bowl and the meat is very well done as well. Id return one day if I happen to be around VA again.
