We were excited to try this restaurant. My parents had tried it once and wanted us to try it as well. So we had a party of 5. We came in and were told "it will be a 15 minute wait, for the staff to get caught up!" I have never heard of such, I have worked in a restaurant atmosphere for around 15 years. So we waited. After 15 minutes there were several tables open. We watched as they told others coming in there was going to be a 20 minute wait and some of them left. So we waited around 25 minutes and the hostess came and said " I am trying to get you seated as soon as possible." My step father said " are those tables back there open?" The hostess replied "yes but Im not allowed to seat anyone yet." So we left. A restaurant should not have customers waiting on the staff to get caught up! Not good for your customers or your restaurant. We should have been seated and at least giving our drinks and menus, even if it were going to take a few minutes before someone took our order. Needless to say, we will not be going back. This is no way for anyone to do business. I would not recommend this place to anyone. It was not professional at all.

We are new to the area are were eager to explore our local dining options. We started with the Plaid Turnip and quickly lost our excitement. The decor is ok but not clean and functioning. They have icicle Christmas lights hanging from the ceiling but half of them dont work and they are coated in dust. My husband ordered a baked potato which was HUGE. He said it was all right, not bad but wouldnt order it again. I ordered a vegetarian sandwich of some sort which again was huge- way too bug but not that great. I could only eat half of it as it was almost the size of the plate and was filled with some fried green tomatoes which were ok but were way too thick and there were 4 slices in the sandwich total. I think they are trying to offset the mediocre food with extreme portions, but who would like to have a mound of something youll just eat because you are paying for it versus a normal portion of food that is amazing???

I have given this restaurant the benefit of the doubt 3 times...nothing stands out except the poor service and poorer food. We came into the restaurant tonight when there were two other customers...our first warning...and yet we had extremely slow serivce, long wait times for food (45 min for a grilled chicken sandwich and a bowl of chili??), and when the food finally arrived, it was poorly made and of less than acceptable quality. We had: calamari (soggy, obvi frozen), bacon wrapped jalapenos (bacon flacid, bland), house salad (frozen corn? Really?), grilled chicken sandwich (bun soggy, took 45 min), chili (half grease, not fit for a hot dog), glass of pinor noir (dirty glass, floating debris that was NOT cork). Our waitress was inattentive, did not bring us waters to go with our adult beverages, and did not ask us how the food was or if we needed anything. Extremely disappointing.

I went to breakfast here on the advice of a friend. Already knew they have the best bread pudding, but hadnt tried breakfast. Everything was cooked just right. Bacon was crispy. Over-easy eggs were perfect. Home fries were delicious. Waitress was attentive without hovering. I even asked if I could have a biscuit with cheddar cheese, rather than toast with the Plaid Turnip breakfast. The waitress said "Certainly!" without hesitation. I will have breakfast there again.

To be honest..... the food wasnt anYthing to boast about, but wasnt terrible....its mediocre at best. Id recommend this place if you are looking for large portions, as thats the only special thing about the food. As for decor and design, the places all-around feeling is one that wants to be too many things at once, with there even being a Xmas tree up front still (its the middle of June). Id give it 2.5 stars out of five.

Hotel receptionist recommended this place while I was in Suffolk for work. Food wasnt anything to rave about at all. Also, there was a discrepancy on what I left for a tip and what was charged to my card. I called the restaurant to get the issue resolved....no one ever called me back or rectified the issue. Totally unprofessional. If I have to go back to Suffolk, this place will not be on my list of places to go.

Being one of those persons who "loves fried green tomatoes" as well as egg plant, during my last visit to PT, Friday, Nov. 11th, I couldnt resist ordering the Fried Green Tomato & Eggplant over pasta. I wasnt dissappointed. It was excellent! Of course I did not come close to finishing the dish. There was enough left over for dinner the next evening for 2 people. Cant wait until I get to enjoy it again!!

I love supporting locally owned restaurants and wish I could give this place a higher rating. The food was good, the atmosphere was relaxed, the decor was eclectic and artsy and the staff was friendly. But the service was extremely slow. This took away from what was an otherwise pleasant experience. I will defintely try it again at some point in hopes that the next time they will pick up the pace.

Now this place is solid good! Breakfast is delicious & plentiful. I always get the Master breakfast w/corn beef hash...yummy! Service is awesome always keep my drink topped off & by the way the ice tea is the bomb too dawn good! Lunch is terrific, so far Ive gotten the shrimp & scallop baskets. And large size shrimps & scallops at that. Do need to try this place, truly a hit place to dine!

Nice atmosphere, good service, reasonable prices, and beautifully prepared tasty food. Ordered appetizer fried green tomatoes - cooked a bit darker than I like, but very tasty with the goat cheese and balsamic reduction. Barbecued Beef Brisket entree was also very good, as were the house salad and collard greens. My one disappointment was the lack of an actual turnip item on the menu.

Have ALWAYS come here for breakfast. Always wonderful & great service. Came for the first time for dinner tonight. Great service from hostess & Glenn AND great suggestions for dinner. Had The Med burger & my fiance had the pastrami burger. We had an appetizer of pulled pork tots & shared a piece of coconut custard pie! I recommend you try the Plaid Turnip!

Food I would rate as good, decent price, and a nice atmosphere for a date. My wife and I enjoyed the experience and I would rate the service as above average, but not great. It would have been nice to get a glass of water to go with adult beverage, because it does take a little longer to get a refill from the bar after the food has arrived.

The first thing I noticed was the aromas as I walked in. The decore and music was great. Our waitresss was charming and spot on with our order, but most of all my eggs benedict was the best, my eggs done to order, which never happens and the hollandaise sauce was like butter. I live in Mi, I wish there were places in Detroit like this.
