We went to Carytown Burgers and Fries at Short Pump on Saturday January 30, 2016. It was my first time at any location. The food was good and timely. They did make a mistake and brought the wrong side item but reordered it and it came out about halfway through the meal. We asked for a box for the side item that came that was not ordered and it never arrived. When I asked someone by the drink area they pointed to the front and said something I did not understand as they walked away. The main issue was cleanliness. We were there just short of an hour. It was between 3 pm and 4 pm, not their busiest time but they had a steady stream of folks. We did not see one table wiped down. They were quick about picking up the dishes but not one staff person wiped down any table. The restroom was by far not the worst I have ever been in but there were signs of needing attention. On top of the tables it felt more unclean then it probably was. Sadly the cleanliness issue will cause me to not return. If that is how they manage the areas the patrons see, who knows what goes on in the kitchen area we do not see.

My roommate and I have been going here for years and love the food but lately it has been going downhill. Delivery always takes forever and my food was cold and soppy last time. Today, however, was the last straw. My roommate and I both got burgers to go. As soon as I opened mine, a hair poked out of the burger itself. Not like it snuck in there before they put the bun on. It was baked IN TO the burger. I called to complain (couldnt return because I was at work). The girl seemed inconvenienced but agreed to refund the order. Not five minutes later, my roommate found a hair in her burger as well. I called again and spoke to the same girl. I did not receive an apology either time, nor did she seem at all concerned. She did refund the order but not before sarcastically asking if everything else was okay. Would have been willing to forgive the situation had she been at all friendly or apologetic but no such luck. We will not be returning.

This has to be the best restaurant in Richmond... maybe in all of Virginia. I absolutely LOVE Carytown Burgers & Fries! I used to come here often when I lived in Richmond and after a couple years out of state, I still havent found anywhere that compares. I highly recommend their cheese fries, milkshakes, and the Barnyard Brawl burger - but all of their burgers are delicious! As one person noted, there usually isnt anyone waiting tables. You order inside, then take your seat and they bring your food to you, but if you need a refill youre going to have to go back inside and ask them. You can sit indoors if you prefer, or outside on the patio which is very chilled out. The menu is available on their website for anyone who would like to decide what they want beforehand. If you live in Richmond and have not yet eaten at Carytown Burgers & Fries, you are really missing out!

Pure excellence! Firstly, let me say that I live approximately 20 minutes away from this restaurant. I heard about Carytown Burgers & Fries online and I was craving burgers and fries so I decided to give this a shot. Normally I wouldnt drive such a long distance from home to get something to eat but I read the reviews and decided why not! I ordered a cheeseburger with jalapenos and cheese fries. Absolutely delicious! The cheese on the cheese fries was definitely my favorite part of the meal. Everything was hot and ready to eat which I also loved about it. The atmosphere is my aesthetic as well. I enjoyed the environment and how nice and welcoming the staffs were. My only complaint is I wish they would deliver near my place but considering its too far, I cant blame them at all! Despite the distance ill definitely be coming here again with some friends this time!

Food is good... if it arrives in a timely fashion. Ive had a lot of issues with delivery in the past (and in person, have had orders take well over an hour to arrive) but recently decided to give it another go. The food was incredibly delayed on delivery (over an hour past when it was promised to be there), to the point that it was actually chilly cold (not a pleasant way to eat french fries). I do appreciate that when I called, the restaurant tried to work it out with me, but unfortunately, this was after I was also told it was not their problem and after theyd left me on hold for over 10 minutes, and hung up on me once. I prefer the Lakeside location where Ive not had these problems. But I do give points for both the quality of food (good) and the fact that the staff was ultimately apologetic when I talked to them.

Went to the new Short Pump Location today. Food was awful. the burger was dry an unseasoned. The fries were fine, but you can tell they are frozen. The bun was cold and stale and too big for the burger. I ended up tearing most of the bun away from the sandwich so I could eat it. When I was done it looked like a pile of bread scraps. By the time I finished, the meat had cooled down to the point it became dry and tough / Rubbery. Service? two dudes behind the bar air drumming on the table, kind of annoying. Please read the reviews about the food. The bad ones are pretty consistent, and the hype about it being best burger in Richmond is total B.S. I will never go to any of their locations again. Lunch was 12.50 with tip and was worth about 2 bucks.

great costumer service all around, honest about wait times and I had ordered a burger yesterday for pickup and when I got it home it was missing its top piece of bread. I called immediately and explained that I had work in twenty minutes and they responded immediately with a free replacement under my name. I called today because I for some reason felt an emptiness in my stomach There was a different person on the phone and apparently the note had been lost or thrown away or whatever honest mistake. She asked if I could just wait twenty minutes and call back again and speak to the manager. I called exactly 20 minutes afterwards and the manager was available, attentive, and direct. EXCELLENT COSTUMER SERVICE

Ive heard about how great this place is for ages, finally found myself nearby and hungry so I was really anticipating my first visit. Completely disappointed. Bun was frigid--like it was actually refrigerator-cold; Patty was thin, not dry but not moist, not flavorful, and luke-warm; Fries were cold; Took over 20 for our party to get our food; Coke was thin--they either need to adjust their machine or stop skimping on syrup; Found a hair on my burger after two bites, and the staff challenged me on it, but did replace it without a big fuss. Value was good, but I can get a cold, cheap cheeseburger anywhere. Completely over-hyped and not even close to "Richmonds best burger."
