We used to love Legal Seafoods - however, we just had the WORST $70 dinner there. I ordered the market special lobster - it was very overcooked, chewy, rubbery - pretty much all of the things lobster is not supposed to be. They slice a whole lobster in half and grill it - sounds like it could be good, but not so much. My meal came with summer grilled vegetables which apparently means serving them as a chilled dish (chilled grilled summer vegetable mix). In all honestly, it seemed like my meal had been cooked hours prior because someone else ordered it, returned it, and the chef just slightly reheated and served me someones else returned lobster dish. Sound like a freak incident? My boyfriend also ordered a "market special" the black back flounder - equally awful. The fish left a strange filmy paste like residue in his mouth and the spinach dish was pretty unpleasant. Honestly, Tysons Corner Galleria - a meal like that?? There is no way that should ever happen, especially in such a "high end" area - I mean really! Cooking food is what resturants do - THATS THE MARKET - my suggestion to Legals "dont skimp when hiring chefs" - for real.. Seriously, the food was really bad - and by the way, we had the fish trio some months back and though it was blase, at least it was not awful to the caliber of this last experience - clearly things are really going down hill over there...

Sat down in the general seating my party of four planed on ordering drinks, appetizers, main course and drinks, total bill would have easily been north of $300. Our waitress was nice enough to inform us tha its happy hour and we could get less expensive items in the bar. We wanted to stay with her due to her pleasant demeanor. The General Manager was called over and to discuss and explained to us there was NO WAY to do that and we would go against policy and we had to go upstairs. I have two problems first of all sense when is it policy to not accommodate the customer? Last I checked without us you have no job! Secondly lets do some math: $300 x 30%= $90. Policy took $90 out of a servers pocket. Im sure the food is good and our server would have been great, but I cant support a company that treats there customers that way and does not consider the importance of keeping them happy or the importance of their front line servers.

I have tried most everything on the menu. The seafood overall is bland but there are a few great items that shouldnt be overlooked such as: the Tuna Burger, Tuna Melt, coconut shrimp appetizer, and their soups. The food is very fresh and high quality. I think it is overall quite pricey any only a few dishes are really worth the price in my opinion. Their coffees and lattes are outstanding and far superior to Starbucks, I often go to the take out window for lattes and they are something worth trying. Also, I have never had a bad dessert here. So if you just go there for coffee and dessert you will be impressed! The staff is all super nice, which is unusual for many NoVA restaurants and i think that is what makes this place stand out more than even the good food. They are also very accommodating to food allergies and special preferences. Make sure to make a reservation.

Didnt blow my socks off in either direction - first time Ive been to this chain. Menu is great, we tried the calamari trio - there wasnt much there. It tasted good, but there were three little mounds inside of salsa ramekins. I then had the Wood Grilled Seafood Platter. The menu said, "Chefs Choice" - I dont eat fish often, so when it all came, I thought maybe someone would point out to me what I was eating. There was a skewerless skewer of shrimp and scallops - which I thoroughly enjoyed, and three small pieces of fish. One was salmon that was very fishy tasting and I barely touched, another was tuna, Im guessing, which was ok, then the third, a white fish...I dont know? Trout? Swordfish? I have no idea. Server was ok, but seemed newer and not too knowledgeable. Glad I wasnt paying.

We sat upstairs, in the bar area of the restaurant. The bartender gave us the daily special menu and highly recommended a soft shell crab salad and a shrimp wrap. Two different entres. We ordered both. We were disappointed. The crab was rubbery and not edible, probably not fresh. The tortilla (or whatever material they used to wrap the wrap) was also stale and hard. The shrimp has no flavor. The air conditioning was too cold. We also watched three older ladies of color walk into the restaurant and it appeared as if the bartender was trying to get them to go somewhere else. They asked if they could sit down and he agreed, but he didnt seem nearly as welcoming to them as they were to my wife and me who did not match their appearance.

Had dinner here with some friends. Initally sat in the main dining room, once our server was taking our order she did the absolute right thing and told us we could save money by eating upstairs. We wanted to do the right thing and keep her as our server so we asked to see the manager. The general manager would not give us the same pricing in the dining room and said we would have to go upstairs. Very disappointed that our request was not accomodated espcially since there would be no difference for the restaurant in price if we ate upstairs. The manager upstairs, Amy and our server Megan were much more pleasant to deal with and did everything to make our experince great. The General Manager however did NOT.

Although my wife and I were dressed better than anyone else in the almost empty restaurant, what passed for the maitre d‘, gave us the worst possible table. When I asked for a better table I got a smirk and 3 tables latter one was finally satisfactory. The service was so bad, I didn’t’ leave a tip (the 3rd time in 30 years). The food on an A+ to F scale was a C minus. A few months later I was conned by brother and his wife to eat there again. I took the manager aside and told him of my past problems. He assured me he would have me taken care of. This time we got a satisfactory table (nothing special), however the service and food improved to a C. Not a place I would ever waste my money at again.

I had really been looking forward to trying this restaurant, but it was incredibly disappointing. Grilled salmon and scallops didnt taste as though theyd had any preparation. Very uninteresting. Filet was good, but not great, and other than charring it its hard to mess those up. Even the kids pizza was overdone, and burned along the crust. Crab cakes were fair. For about 1/2 the price, it would have been an adequate meal. For what it was, it was outrageously overpriced.
