So? How much does a ZAGAT rating go for these days? I was going to send them an email and keep my concerns for the horribly high salt content of their food on the q-t but after getting hung up on twice at 3 pm,and once at 4, not busy times, to get an email address, I decided to post it here. Dear Curry Mantra I did not want to leave these comments in a review to be read long after the issue might have been corrected. I imagine, like many of us you are just trying to make a living and I would not want to make it more difficult if a brief conversation could resolve the issue. Also, I would have contacted you sooner but, in an unrelated matter have been very sick. Ive just moved to the area and was hoping to find my new "go to" restaurant. I ordered on the 2nd. At 5:44 pm, per the receipt. Goat Biryani, Tandoori Grill, soup and Naan. Im very sorry to say this, as I really appreciate anyone who feeds people for a living, but the food was inedible. The salt was through the roof - it was horrible. (Its still in my fridge if you want to test it)- specifically, biryani was the worst(doubly sad as it is my all time fav) and, since I ended up at a Drs office in that unrelated matter, I also have documented proof on the overwhelming salt content. I have never had blood pressure issues, yet both the nurse and the Dr.were alarmed at my blood pressure reading to the point of wanting to intervene. They backed down when I told them this had never happened to me before and shared my experience with your food, the night before. I love Indian food I love spices and I know your goal is to make the best Indian food available. Please, please, please tell me this was an anomaly or maybe an accidental double salting (though it was more like 10 times too salty). I will not be ordering there again, unless I hear from you. I hope you understand how harmful this is to people. (Adding insult to injury your naan, both regular and garlic, were under cooked.) I wish you the best in the New Year, both professionally and personally. Kindest Regards,
SA

Curry mantra is a lively restaurant with authentic Indian tastes. They have a lot of naan and vegetarian options which was a bonus for us. Had the paneer bell pepper fry, and chana masala which came with a hefty side of rice and a basket of a variety of breads and naan. They offered a complimentary papad in the begining which was literally 1 papad cut in half...but it was free so no complaining I guess. The sizes seem appropriate but they are very filling that 2 of us couldnt finish even half of each bowl, so you will definitely leave full. We also ordered 2 mango lassis which were a little thick, but sweet and refreshing. Could use more ice to dilute it down (rarely do I suggest that). The service was very friendly and very attentive. They also have live music (an exceptionally talented violinist) on friday and saturday nights. Overall, the environment is ambient and has traditional Indian touches, and offers delightful dishes fit to excite the pallet.

Service is horrible. We started using the restaurant when it opened in summer 2011 and loved the food. The service was very good too, and continued to be good for a couple of months. Service has gotten progressively worse over time. The last time we went our waiter couldnt be bothered with us, as both he and the owner were playing something on the computer. The other three waiters mainly stood around talking, ignoring the eight customers. The food--whenever it arrives at the table--continues to be okay. We stopped by this week to grab a quick bite and arrived--literally--one minute before opening. We were told to go stand on the side walk. We waited a few minutes, and left when they still hadnt opened. Never going again ... maybe for takeout. One last thing, the lunch buffet is not very good.

We have gone to this place 3 times, the first 2 times in Fairfax were great! On the second visit we were invited to there new location in Falls Church, we were excited to go and best of all it was free. Well when we arrived, with our two children, there were 3 Redskin cheerleaders standing outside with what seemed like no clothes on and there flesh sticking out.... Not professional at all!! If your food is as good as there Fairfax location, then why would you have to make this grand opening a sleazy, nasty, unethical experience. This obviously shows the character of the owner and views on "sex sells" well for us it doesnt sell. It is worldly and wrong. Its to bad, but we will never be going to any of the Curry Mantra location ever again. One other thing, the food was bad, dried up chicken.

These people are not professional. Restaurant is supposed to open until 10 pm however if you arrive after 9:15pm, they will deny entry. If you use a groupon certificate, they add an 18% tip automatically without even asking or telling (wtf). The place is dark, server never came to ask for anything because they were in a hurry to shut down. We arrived at 9:10 pm and ordered within 5 mins, food came around 9:30 and we literally had to finish our food in rush because they kept insisting that we are about to close. While we were there, they returned 3 people who wanted to come, which is quite stupid as they lost business just because of a rush to close. Food was ok like any other place. Overall we had a terrible experience and and this was our first and the last visit there.

Opted for the lunch buffet. It was literally very bad. The bread was okay. The fritters were cold and soggy. The corn salad had yogurt dressing which was smelling like old yogurt. Bhel Puri chaat was soggy and served in small bowls with a cone in the bottom. It was even difficult to scoop it out. My guests barely tasted a few things. Sweets were just deep fried pieces of bread smelling strongly like vegetable oil. The staff didnt refill the buffet bar for the whole time we were there. Two of the veggies were mixed together int he small pan by someone. Only 2 waiters for several tables. For that kind of food you wouldnt want to pay $14 per head for buffet.

Me and my husband visited this place on our way from Raleigh, NC to Jackson,MS. Glad we found this place. Amazing food, great service, super friendly staff. This was the first time we let chef of the restaurant to decide our menu and we were more than happy. We got Paneer Tikka, Matar malai methi, Kadhai Paneer and Garlic Naan. Every bite was yummylicious. We wished our appetite would have never ended. Chef recommend Malai Kulfi desert, and it was simply wow. After trying numerous Indian restaurants in USA this was the best Indian food. Would definitely recommend it, and would love to visit again.

I would give it 0 stars it had an option. I just now came back from this horrible restaurant. I would advice VEGANs to stay away,. I am vegan for religious reasons ever since birth. I ordered for a veg thali and they provided me with a non-veg one. I am so stupid that i realized it only after having my first bite. The waiter just said sorry and i believe they dont realize their mistake and i am feeling terribly bad for choosing this restaurant. I have been in VA for past 5 years and i never had such horrible experience ever in any other restaurant. Spoiled my V-day dinner.
