My old friend of 25 years and I get together on a 3 to 4 times a year basis to have sushi and discuss life for 3 to 5 hour. We have tried many places throughout the Salt Lake Valley and, as a famous individual once stated, "this is the place". Our game of sushi hunting is quite simple, we choose the place and when we are there we toss coins or toothpicks (depending on the size of the print and if there are pictures included on the menu) and allow them to land by chance on the menu, and that is what we order. Of all of the sushi joints that we have frequented, this is the most incredible of all. The decor has hand blown glass chandeliers throughout. The walls are painted with Asian murals that bring ones fascination to its presence. The patio is completely enclosed and has the presence of an Asian garden that invites you to indulge in the moment. As for the food, we have found that the prices are nearly half as much as other premium sushi spots, yet the flavor, texture and presentations far exceeds what we have experienced elsewhere. Juliet, our waitress was so kind as to deliver a request for the most colorful and outstanding sushi roll so that we could include its image with this review (be sure to ask for the Low Rider roll.... It aint on the menu). As for me and my dear long time friend, this is the place that we will return to time and time again.

Honestly when going here I had the predominant feeling of, "why would I ever go here over another Japanese restaurant?" And I finally concluded no, this place does not offer anything I cant get better anywhere else, and doesnt have much if any authentic Japanese food. For example I got the Yakisoba and not only was the portion size abysmal for the out rageous price tag of $14, but it wasnt even actual yakisoba as you would normally envision it. I can go to Koko kitchen and for $5 less get authentic yakisoba with nearly 3 times the portion size, and it is only one street over. I cannot recommend this restaurant. Not because it is particularly bad, but because of the price, the in authenticity and overall meh quality of the food you can go even one street over and get some real delicious Japanese food at a fraction of the cost. Edit** I forgot to mention the vegetarian and vegan options are extremely limited, and the only vegan sushi has fruit, which does not mix with vinegared rice(which is how sushi rice is seasoned) in any way shape or form. I had some of the tea though. I was while lead and pretty good. Nothing spectacular but worth the price I would think.

I really dont like sushi, so I cant speak to the quality of the sushi at this establishment. My husband devoured two rolls and everyone in our group seemed very happy with their sushi. We got some edamame to start and it was very good. They brought out two bowls, one with the edamame in it and one to dispose of the shells. Its a small touch, but it made it easier! I got the chicken curry. I had assumed it was going to be Japanese curry, but it was Thai curry, which was a little disappointing. The curry was served with a banana and was spicier than I had thought it was going to be (again, I thought it would be Japanese). It had a very good flavor. My husband and dad didnt think it was too spicy, but it was spicy enough that I couldnt eat much of it. It was served with sticky rice and black rice. We decided to get some dessert because it was my father-in-laws birthday. We got the molten cake and it was the best molten cake Id ever had. If I could, Id eat it every night for the rest of my life. It was moist, the hot fudge was creamy, and it was warm.

I really want to like Sapa more but unfortunately every time I visit it is nothing short of disappointing. The rolls are a little more on the pricey side for the quality, which usually wouldnt cause me to write a review.... Although every time we come here we always get the first roll about an hour after we order, and every roll seems to come about 10 minutes apart which is really inconvenient if you arent sharing. Whenever I have asked to speak to the manager or owner they dont seem to care about fixing the issue, but more defend as to why it took so long. Which is interesting because when we sat near the sushi bar all we could hear was someone yell "I need someone to run food!" ...go figure... Sapa is sub-par in comparison to some of the other sushi restaurants nearby and I probably wont bother to return.

Sapas looks incredibly sketchy from the outside. It is located right next to a tattoo parlor and the front door to Sapas is a big dented and scratched wooden door. But you walk inside and there are cool blown glass light fixtures, pretty decor and its usually packed! We have been a few times since our first visit. And I asked our server what sushi rolls were not on the menu and she then described to us the "Below the Belt" which was basically a roll with every spicy thing that was in the kitchen all wrapped up together. We ordered it. And I just about died when eating it. My husband was sweating and his face was red. He lived in mexico city for two years and I thought that he was immune to spicy foods. It was delicious though and I would order it again. We also love the dragon balls and the Vegas roll!

Sapa is now one of our favorites. Their outdoor patio is beautiful, and large enough that you can usually get a spot. The décor is nice on the inside as well. This is a great spot for a date, a b-day party, a large group, or whatever! The food is actually pretty good too. I love the garlic noodles and their sushi is inventive and fresh. The have the curry cauliflower appetizer that I crave. Also the stuffed jalapeños are delicious as well as the spring rolls. The prices are also incredibly reasonable for the quality you get. Theyve also got a great specialty drink menu that lets you forget that youre in Utah. Service has been really good every time weve been as well. I highly recommend Sapa!

I wish I could give Sapa more stars. Ive read the other reviews, and Ill admit the food was pretty good, and its sold at a fair price. Unfortunately, the staff was rude and unprofessional. My girlfriend and I had a terrible experience with our server. He got my girlfriends order wrong, then proceeded to tell her that, "she didnt order that, so...." Incredibly awkward. The manager was equally as incapable. He followed up with some more awkwardness, never once apologizing for the behavior of his staff. He did, however, take the item off of the check, but not without an utter lack of professionalism. Anyways - a word of caution for anyone thinking of dining there: Your server might call you a liar.

This place was pretty sweet. The padded wall accents made me feel like a truly sane individual. The curry chicken tantalized my taste buds in only the way a food that looks eerily similar to baby vomit could. It truly was awesome and who doesnt enjoy a 3 million year old tea hut? There were dinasour bones on the inside of one of them! And Brad Pitt! He said he was on his way to Tibet and sat in a hut and it got carried away to Salt Lake and just hasnt left. I recommend this place highly. It was decently priced, the ambiance was great, and the food was delectable. Ill be back, or not, I may die tomorrow, and I wouldnt want to die a liar, so Id LIKE to be back. But Im also not Arnold.
