I have been to Lucky 13 quite a few times - loved the food and service. I have given them high ratings in the past but not this time. I took my son there for his 21st birthday last Friday, July 3rd around 3:30, with some family & friends. There were a few people that had never been to Lucky prior to this. We had a party of 12 and were seated at two separate tables on the patio next to the door man. When we arrived we were told three different times to "Not Move the Tables" and "Do Not put more than 6 people per table". There was no "Hello, welcome, enjoy" just a lecture. I cant imagine that we were the first to have a party of 12 people and if so then they should have told us they could not accept the party. This was not a great way to start off but we brushed it off & took our seats. Then things got worse, our waitress was beyond rude & seemed put off by all of our requests. Now mind you, I understand that we had a lot of people in our group & there were many orders coming her way but if she couldnt handle it maybe she could have asked to have another server help her. It was a hot day & we had asked for water which took a very long time to get, sometimes we never got it. We had also asked to have more ice put in our glasses but she never brought this so we stopped asking. Our group was not being rude to her & were trying to patient because we had a lot of people. But every time we asked for something she acted very annoyed. Then we ordered food... everyone received their meals except for my son. We figured it was taking a little longer to cook. Everyone was halfway through eating & he still had no food. I tried to find our waitress with no success so I talked another server, told them what he had ordered and she said she would make sure this was brought out ASAP. A little later our waitress came to the table & asked my son what he had ordered, which he repeated to her. I talked to another waitress and told them that I was not happy with the service & didnt think we should have to pay for his meal since it took another 20 minutes to be served to him. His food arrived when everyone was done eating. We were really trying to be patient and tried to give her the benefit of the doubt but she was also making it very difficult for us. After my son was done eating, a few people ordered beers including my husband. The waitress came back with a couple of the beers and then my aunt ordered shots for everyone. My husband asked about his beer (because there were many times that she had forgotten drinks before). If looks could kill he would be a goner. She turned to him & pretty much yelled at him telling him that she was getting it but if he was going to be demanding she would not serve it at all. We all sat there in disbelief & were shocked that just happened. Originally we had planned to hang out for a while after eating but after the shots we asked for our bills so we could get out of there. It was amazing at how annoyed she acted towards us from the very beginning. I got my bill & noticed that they did not discount for my sons meal. At this point I was done dealing with her, said nothing & paid my bill (plus an undeserved 15% tip) The sad thing is I had talked up the food & service at Lucky to those that had never been. When we left many of them said the food was great but they would never go back if that is how the service was going to be. I have had other servers in the past that have been great so I know that this is not the norm. But I am in shock at how horribly we were treated. I really wish we had just left after the first signs of the rude service. If I ever decide to go back there & am seated in this servers area, I will make sure to request that we be moved or leave and go elsewhere. There is someone that I want to thank & thats the doorman with blonde hair. He was chatting with our group & was the only person in that area (besides other patrons) that made us feel welcomed. I will admit that the food & drinks were good - when we received them.

Bad service and stupid rules. First off, one of us could not get in because, he did not have an US issued ID (only a Swiss ID that is issued in 4 languages including English and is valid in all of Europe and probably has more security features on it then the ID/drivers licences of all US states combined, and on top of that he had a separate drivers licence card). So he had to run home and get his passport. Once we were in, we started out sitting on the patio, where 6 people were sitting in a big circle around 2 tables spaced 6 feet apart because, the tables on the patio are not allowed to be moved. On top of that we were told that people from one table are not allowed to face the people from the other!! Some of us were then able to order food. One person was left out though. A bit later 2 more people of our group showed up, we were told that we were not allowed to move any more chairs into the circle. So the hostess then decided to move us inside (where tables are allowed to be moved?!) to seat us. Our food order was put on hold till the table inside was freed up and ready. The food arrived sporadically, so that some were done eating when others just got their food. One persons food did not arrive at all (not the one that was left out by the first order). After all this moving us around and changing waitress, the confusion of who ordered what was complete. Halfway through the meal ( some still didnt get theirs yet) the waitress then started asking about the billing, asking each person what they ate and if they were combining tabs with anyone. Apologies for the idiotic rules about not moving tables or chairs on the patio, the missed order, and the missed food were newer made.

The door guy needs to be replaced. Period. He is the first service staff that people run into before entering the bar and he leaves such a bad taste in the mouth. I stood there for a minute and there was not one person that he was even relatively courteous to. He makes customers feel unwelcome. The food is honestly not the best. I dont understand what all the hype is about. Its not worth your money to waste it on mediocre food. There are plenty of better options downtown to choose from where the prices are also not inflated. I do have to say that most of the waitresses are great, friendly and accurate. As far as the rest of my experience, it was a waste of my hard earned money. The drinks are decent but if you want a drink that actually contains a standard amount of alcohol, order a beer. Then again, that could be a Utah thing. Im not just writing this because I am just mad about one time I went, I have been several times with friends and I can truly say that I have some experience to have a valid opinion. Hopefully management takes customers thoughts into consideration. I understand that every restaurant and bar can have a bad night, but for this to be a repeated issue is not acceptable from a well known bar that has been around long enough to learn the dos and donts about running an established business. I would love to see an improvement in the factors that are creating a negative impression on new and repeated customers. The type of service that customers have to deal with when visiting the restaurant is definitely bad for business and most definitely does not leave a lasting good impression to encourage customers to come back.
