Forget Subway, Quiznos, and Blimpie. Go to Groves Market Deli at 1906 S. Main St. in Salt Lake City. Ive been going here since 1982. Their sandwiches are made on ambassador rolls. The sandwiches are a foot long and about 6 to 8 inches in diameter. They put tons of meat and cheese on them. One sandwich is enough for two adults. The price ranges from $7.99 to $10.99 depending on what you get. The Big John Combo is $10.99 but it comes with everything. The Delux is almost as good and comes in at $8.99. They used to put pepperoncini peppers at the bottom of the basket holding the sandwich but they did not do this the last time. Im not sure if they are doing this to cut costs or if they forgot. I didnt notice until after I had left. I dont know why people complain about rude service. I have never had rude service and I go to Groves quite often and have been going there since 1982. They do get very busy during lunch hours so their business may come across as rudeness, but theyve always greeted me with a smile. I suggest you call in your order on the phone to expedite your order. The mayo may make the sandwich a little soggy if you wait too long, but its never been a problem for me. I also recommend the tuna with avocado, its awesome!!!

Jesus take the wheel!!!!! I went to this place about 8-10 years ago when I went to school in Utah and completely forgot about it! This should be a UT staple and we need to call Guy and get this place featured on the food network! I got a sandwich about the size of my arm (I am 285lbs). Needless to say this sandwich and I almost got into a fist fight! I have to bow down and submit to the sand which, I was defeated. I couldnt even eat HALF of it. I could not believe how great the sandwich was and how much flavor all of the meat had. Absolutely unbelievable! This place is amazing and if you are in SLC, this place is a MUST! I have to take my hat off to the owners for keeping a small neighborhood market like this in business. Great job! Sincerely, The guy who couldnt eat a Groves Market Sandwich

This place is the best. All the employees are polite and respectful, and their sandwiches are unreal. They are always fresh, and always filling. Ive been going there for over ten years and do not have one bad thing to say about it. I read that someone had compared Groves Market to subway.. To me that is absolutely ridiculous. My family gets two full size sandwiches and two regular drinks and it comes out to be about $25.00. Which is well worth the money, considering that the sandwiches are made from a full loaf of fresh French bread and they actually put a damn good amount of meat and whatever else you want on the sandwich. Its a great place to go eat. Thanks Groves Market. You guys are a one of a kind place.

Not sure why Im even bothering to write a review. All the others speak for themselves. One of Salt Lakes best kept secrets. HUGE sandwiches for a great price. And its not just the quantity its the quality. These sandwiches are great. Its a bit of a pain to navigate through the tiny shop when its busy at lunch time but its worth it. My favorite is the deluxe. Be sure to check out their AMAZING selection of hot sauces. Stuff you didnt know existed but youll really want to try. The drink, chips and fruit selection is really good too. Really nice little shop.

I have been a regular at Grove Market since 1987 and have never found a place that comes even close to the quantity or consistent quality of their food. I love taking newbies there for lunch (because their sandwiches are so large they require a lunch buddy) and watching their eyes bug out when they see the size of their half of the sandwich. This is an excellent value for the money and is a "must experience" if you are visiting in Utah and love deli sandwiches. Come extra hungry!

Groves is a tiny neighborhood market in South Salt Lake that has one of the busiest sandwich delis in town! Sandwiches are built on freshly baked french bread and loaded up with your choice of ingredients. Get a half if youre really hungry or save what you dont eat for dinner. They are enormous. Dont go right at lunchtime - the line is to the door and there is no parking. Theres only a couple of outside tables as well, so plan on finding a place to eat.

My favorite sandwich in the valley has got to be the big John special here ham, bologna, corned beef, roast beef, turkey and pastrami topped with swiss and American cheese. It may seem a bit expensive at $11.49 but you can feed at least 2 and up to 4 people with this thing, it easily weighs 2-3 lbs me and my 3 kids split it and are full. High quality meats and a great crusty roll and their pickles are great too.

Great sandwiches, made to order. They may have just converted to mustard on sandwiches. I usually dont like mustard but today I gave it a try and it was amazing, to say the least. Friendly too. This is a true gem in SLC. If youre looking for a very good simple sandwich, this is the place to find it. Also their half sandwiches are as big as a regular sandwich at other places so be prepared for big portions.

The biggest best most bodacious sandwiches in the whole state! There are different breads and lots of meat choices. Save time and call in your orders to go plus a couple tables outside. The market itself is nice, they have lots of drink choices fresh fruit and the biggest selection of hot sauces and peppers around. I love that the store is still family-owned and operated!

I go there as often as I can (or my wife will let me) for their sandwiches. The sandwiches are made on a loaf of french bread (you can choose another kind) and are loaded with meat and lettuce and other sandwich makings. Half for lunch and then half for dinner. Once you try one of their sandwiches you will understand the meaning of life. :)

this place is awesome.... i havent been there since I moved from SLC to Vegas... but given the reviews from last year, it appears as if it hasnt changed.... seriously this place makes man sized monster subs... delicious and reasonably priced... 5 dollar footlong from subway or 8 dollar MONSTER? guess which I would choose!

I use to enjoy coming to this place get sandwiches alot but the last 2 times they had treated me and my friends horable the customer service is not friendly and when asking questions they snub you... They have lost composer and honesty to the customers feelings.. They are not worth my time and money and will not recommend....
