The service was very much so lacking. Our waitress was slow, forgetful, and absent. She disappeared and we were waiting for a long time needing refills. We ended up asking another waitress for a refill and it still didnt come. Then our waitress showed up around 5 minutes later and we were able to ask her for a refill that finally made it to our table another 5 minutes after that. We ordered garlic bread as an appetizer that instead came with the main course which took about 30 minutes to cook. She forgot to put in one of our entrees so it came out 15 minutes after that, at which point the rest of the food had settled in our stomachs so we couldnt enjoy it. The waitress took a while to show up and greet us, then a while to bring our drinks, then a much longer while to take our order, then didnt come back around until after our food was served, then another long while after our last dish arrived. All of this was with a very dead restaurant (we could only see 2 other tables). We were celebrating a friends birthday and they brought out a giant brownie sundae (a nice gesture) but didnt sing, light a candle, or do anything to make someones birthday special. We can understand a waitress having a bad day but the food was also gross. The marinara sauce tasted like it came out of a Chef Boyardee can, the garlic bread was way too much garlic (think diced chunks of garlic) and not enough anything else, and the rest of the food was bland in general. The manager was aware of the slow service and forgotten entree and then acted like the birthday sundae was their way of apologizing. Maybe the sundae really was because of the service issue and not for the birthday like the waitress told us. Again, the sundae was a nice gesture but its purpose seems to have been taken away. Unfortunately it too didnt taste good (the brownie pieces were stale and the ice cream tasted freezer burnt). We went to have a fun birthday dinner with friends and ended up feeling gipped by the food and service. We definitely will not be back.

My wife and I found ourselves on a Monday night in downtown SLC entirely by chance; we had missed our connector flight from Portland to Houston, and Delta put us up at a hotel downtown. We were hungry and had no car, so we took a walk. I saw Buca, looked at my watch, and walked in. There was a young waiter (maybe 20-21) sitting down on the lobby bench and a girl at the hostess stand. The conversation: Me: "Hey, can we get served?" Waiter: (looking at his phone) "We close in NINE minutes." Girl: "Yeah, were closing pretty soon." Me: (smiling): "Guys, with all due respect, thats not an answer to my question." Waiter: "Is it JUST you?" Me: "No, its me and my wife." Waiter: "Hang on, let me ask the kitchen guys if theyve already turned everything off." (He then gets up to walk back there.) Me: (smiling) "You know what guys? Never mind, thats okay." Girl: "Okay, have a good night." We ended up at PF Changs across the street. So, I found myself in the position of having to negotiate the possibility of spending roughly $40 and tip around $8 at this "business" establishment, and found the employees pretty resistant to the whole idea. Ive eaten at Bucas in CA and TX, and it was okay. I didnt eat at this one obviously, as they didnt want to do me the FAVOR of accepting my money in exchange for their food and service.

My niece and I had a late lunch/early dinner here after being completely ignored at PF Changs next door. The hostess was greeted us and sat us immediately, so that was a huge improvement from PF Changs. Then we waited at least 10 minutes for a server to come to the table. The hostess did come by and say "I think he went on a quick break, were trying to find him". I was in town from Knoxville, TN and I have to say that between the nonexistent service at PF Changs and the incredible slow and nonchalant service here, Im convinced that downtown SLC restaurants should just close between lunch and dinner peak hours since they obviously dont want business. I worked in the restaurant business for 12 years and many of those years were as a server. I made some of my best money during non-peak hours because I was able to provide exceptional service due to having fewer tables. The fact that the server was "on a break" was one thing, but the hostess couldve easily offered to get us beverages while we waited. Of course, my opinion doesnt matter much because I am going back to TN tomorrow, but a word of advice to management: it doesnt matter how good your food is if the service is horrible.

I worked at buca di beppo for around 4 months and from the other side of things I can honestly say that this is one of the worst restaurants Ive ever been in, let alone ever worked at. Dont eat there. The management doesnt care about the servers or the guests, the processes that the food and the staff are required to go through make me question the safety and health of the food. the parmesan cheese shakers are washed every Saturday and then the same parmesan put back in them that sometimes is as hard as little pebbles by the time it reaches the completely tasteless, unappetizing dish that youre about to regret ordering. Nothing on the menu is absolutely delicious, but the chicken saltimbocca goes down the hatch fairly easily with enough FRESH parmesan and red pepper to make your tongue burn.Super tacky décor and the floors dont get mopped EVER.....So speaking for the health and safety of your family and friends, not to mention the un-necessary dent it would make in your pocket book, I would avoid it unless its the last restaurant chain on the planet. Somehow doubtable that this would ever be the case though. Worst restaurant ever.

Food was great, service was horrible. They lost our reservation in the first place, so we had to wait about 15 minutes. They sat us at a table meant for 10 people (there were 2 of us). We both ordered water, neither of us got refills the whole time we were there. The food was the only good part of the experience. The it took about 15 minutes after we finished with our food to see our waitress, then after giving the waitress the card, took another 10 mins to get it back. She boxed our food for us in the back-- which we never got back, she said someone accidentally threw it away(?). We ended up going to the manager, she gave us the food for free. She was very understanding and nice. We came back because we had a giftcard. Only one waitress was working during lunch hours, so service was slow, refills were slow, she also forgot to put our order in so the food was slow. Management for sure should have had more waitresses working! She was obviously frazzled running up and down for everyone. Wont be back to this location.

I went to Buca Di Beppo to celebrate the recent promotion of a friend at work. This was my first time going, but not his. He comes from an old world Italian family and he and his brothers have told me many times over that this is the only place in Salt Lake City to get some real and hearty Italian fare. While the food was delicious and filling, the alcohol flowing and effective, it was the service that really knocked me flat. Please, if you do anything in Salt Lake, make sure you request that Marlee serve you while at Buca Di Beppo. Aside from being a stunning beauty, she will win you over with her smile, charm, and wit. She was gracious and catered to our every whim. Im ashamed to say, that being out with the guys, we did get a bit rowdy. But she didnt miss a beat and actually seemed to enjoy herself as much as we enjoyed her! We will be going back again and again, as long as shes there! Wait nevermind she is actually a terrible person
