Fantastico. I am from New York. Although I am not Italian, many of our neighbors and friends were of Italian heritage. My folks had their own business and had to work some nights. Our next door neighbors were immigrants from Sicily. Mrs. Palmeri would take care of my brother and I. She cooked everything from scratch, including making her own Pasta. My wife and I visit NYC occasionally and always try to go to our favorite Italian restaurant in the Village. It is southern Italian. Villagio is as close to what I remember good southern Italian cooking should be in this corner of California. The pomodoro sauce is as authentic as I have ever had. It is just great and we will be regulars working our way through their menu. Yesterday, I had the eggplant parmigian for lunch and we are going back for dinner tonight. If you are a visitor, snowbird or full time resident of the Coachella Valley, this is the place for authentic New York Italian food.

Services was not that great. When i walked in, I was greeted like most places but as soon as I sat down. It took the whole time until I got my food to get silver wear. It being my first time, I took a little more than five minutes to review the menu.. As I sat, we were offered drinks and cheese balls or garlic balls. Immediately asked us if were ready, said no and brought us drinks. Within those 1-2mins, already asking me again if I was ready. I said no once more. . Now that I had took some time to decide and order. Waitress was no where to be found. Manager came over and took my order. Quality of food? It was good but not great. Crust wasnt burnt, but maybe thats how they serve "authentic" pizza. Price was not surprisingly high but not cheap. Overall experience, not going back.

Tell you what...my husband ordered a Margarita pizza with added chicken, for take-out tonight. When he arrived to pay, he happened to open the box (he never does) and noticed no chicken, which was an extra charge. They plopped some stringy, bland chicken on top but with no apology about their mistake. The red sauce was sparse, thin, tasteless, and clumps of unmelted cheese completed this disappointment of a pizza. Im astonished that they offer such a mediocre item and charge over $20.00. Weve enjoyed meals several times in the past when dining in their restaurant and pleasantly conversed with the owner, but we will never go back because of this stunning experience. Maybe ownership has changed, but bad food will not bring customers.

My wife and I were starving and we popped into Pizzeria Villagio for dinner. What a pleasant surprise. We had to wait a few minutes for a table and the chef beckoned us over to the counter to try his "garlic bites." They are PVs twist on garlic bread and they are delicious! This was the beginning of our delicious fare. We started with cocktails from the full bar and quickly moved on to our salad, which was large enough for us to split. Our server, Jaime was very friendly and offered suggestions from the menu. I took his advice and had the Penne al Forno which was fabulous. We finished dinner with cheesecake and were very happy with our overall experience. We will be coming back!

When we walked in the hostess was unfriendly, sauntered and told us to wait a minute where she proceeded to get the menus from the bartender but stood and talked with him for a while. As we stood, we noticed Ed the cooking counter in front of us was messy and unclean. When the hostess sat us, she put us at a tiny two top. We wanted a booth but noticed that every single booth was dirty. There was barely anybody else in the restaurant. From the view of our table, we could see into a side beverage area that had piles of dirty plates sitting. We didnt even stay for the food. Not impressed!

I read an earlier review that was freighteningly bad, so I didnt go. Went the other day, and the first review was just patently wrong! Must have been a disgruntled employee. The pizza was terrific. Very thin dough, relatively sparse toppings, but the flavor made it worth it. I liked it enough to go back a few days later. I usually like thicker crust and lots of toppings, but this is a different, excellent pizza. Place is very attractive with dine in or a special "to go" area. Ill try dine in, other dishes, in a few days. Worth a try, at least.

The original, 2011 owners had the right idea all along: Start a restaurant, make it successful in the shortest amount of time....then SELL IT. The cheapskate new owners(2015) drank the Restaurant Consultant Kool-Aid and systematically destroyed the original concept, with an unwarranted Morgue-like remodel, menu reduction, price hikes and skeleton crew labor, etc. If you always enjoyed Pizzeria Villagio in the past....now youre in for one SHOCKING surprise. I dare you...

Finest Italian food in the Coachella Valley. All fresh ingredients, good size portions and a great price. I want to thank Bill and the staff for doing a great job hosting my familys event in the private room with over 30 people to feed many of them from New Jersey and New York. They commented that Pizzeria Villagio is one of the finest Italian restaurants they have been to. They want you to open up back east where they live. They know their Italian food. GREAT JOB!

Terrible! We miss our old Villagio. They had pizza we craved, my Husband is Italian and it was definitely New York Italian pizza. We ordered the same thing, and it was the worst pizza we have ever had! No green salad on the menu any longer, and you pay for your bread if you want it. What was the owner thinking! We were not the only people complaining-------Sorry to loose such a great restaurant because the owner wanted to change what was great to not even good!

We ordered right off their web site! Ryan delivered our order to our hotel right on time! Pizza was very warm, 18" size was more than plenty for two; the thin crust and generous toppings were delicioso! I would have preferred our (chopped/shredded) salad a little less "shredded" with more dressing and that wonderful crispy fried prosciutto topping! We would definitely try to dine there on-site next time we pass through Palm Desert.

The pizza and salads are amazing! Really exceptional. My only criticism would be to train their employees a bit better. I called and asked the delivery dollar amount minimum and the girl that answered just could not understand what i meant though i tried many ways to explain. I asked for manager and he wasnt very friendly or sympathetic. Regardless, the food is fantastic for what it is.
