Typically we go in in the morning, and we havent really had a problem. Yesterday, though, was a different story. We went in around 9pm and ordered our food. Our waitress was a little absent minded- she asked if we were ready to order, we said yes, and she said okay Ill give you a minute and walked away. We immediately closed our menus, and watched as she stood in the entry to the kitchen for 5 minutes. She would look at us but was too busy talking to come take our order. We finally ordered and got our food. My Crepe was pretty much empty inside, so I ate everything else first and was going to ask our waitress for more of the filling or something as it was plain. Unfortunately, I ended up just eating it as she never came to check on us. We were scraping our plates and were almost done, and waiting for our check. (They usually bring it around the middle of the meal) but it didnt come. Then a huge party of about 12 people came in, we expected to get our check. It didnt come. We watched as they took 5 or so minutes to figure out where they were going to sit, etc, when our waitress came and took their drink order.... we tried to flag her down unsuccessfully. She then took close to 10 minutes to FILL their drink order. Still no check. We had waitresses scurry by us, but no one said anything. We were unable to flag them down either. Our waitress, still without giving us our check, then starts the long process to take the huge parties orders. We got up and stood by the front so we could get help and pay. We waited another 5 minutes there, before finally someone came up to help us. She asked for our check, we let her know we didnt have it. This was 20+ minutes after we had finished our meal. She gave us our total, $15.08, which we wrote a line through the tip line and then wrote our total and signed it. Woke up this morning, they had charged us $30.16, exactly double what our bill was. Needless to say, well have it reversed and will not be going back. I have waitress-ed for years and have never once not tipped due to service, but this was ridiculous. Food was gross, service was awful, I wish there was a 0 Star option. EDIT: Found out after calling Village Inn, that they had (even though the receipt said 0) put in a tip of $15.08 into their system... If we hadnt checked our bank statement we never would have known.

We went this evening for dinner and free pie. My wife and I both ordered fish and chips; our granddaughter ordered french toast. The fish was soggy. Asked for another strawberry lemonad for our granddaughter. The waiter said hed get it. We waited ten minutes and nothing. So, I asked the next person who walked by. She happened to be the assistant manager. She told me that there are no free refills on the strawberry lemonade. I told her to never mind. Finally, out waiter came back by with a refill. I asked him if it was free and he said yes. Then we ordered our pie and waited another 15 minutes for that. When we received our ticket it had three meals on it that we didnt even order on it. My wife took it up to get it fixed and the assistant manager was completely rude about it. When I took the ticket back up to pay our tab a cashier had made a mistake. The assistant manager pulled her aside and yelled at her in front of the other cashier and customers. Completely unprofessional. I like Village Inn in Provo and we will continue to eat there even though it is further away than the Orem one. The Orem one just lost our business for good.

Why too many good things to say. Allow me to mention a few names that are worth mentioning, in no particle order...Cristina (Priceless with her infectious smile and endless charm),"Little John"(Super Kind), Koby (Ready to make your experience awesome), Kaela (serving free sarcasm, in just the right portions), Mikaela (Breathtaking Green Eyes), Dylan, Charles, Terri, Becky, Brenda and those we do not see like the cooks. By the way, if you cook in the back you play a huge role as to whether YOU and all the staff have a job, so realize you are the most important ingredient.Did I just say ingredient while mentioning cooks? Wow! I will have to revisit and re-comment at a later time, way to many great things happen when checking into "The Inn" as one of the "Village People"....Can I legally say that, LOL.

Never go to this location. The manager needs some customer service skills and needs to learn how to deal with a bounced check and a simple mistake the right way instead of call police and make good people feel like criminals in front of everyone. DEFINITELY making sure the word gets out on this one. How dare some snooty, stuck up, "Im better than you" twit make good people with four small children feel like criminals over a simple mistake that could have been paid off and dealt with better right then and there. On top of that the dinner food wasnt that great. The breakfast meal was great, the pie was great, the burgers not so much, the grilled cheese, my daughter couldnt eat it because the bread was so hard. Yes hard. Both my husband and I tried it and we could barely bite into it.

This place really sucks. We were there on a Monday morning and 3 tables had customers and we were told the waiting time would be 10 minutes. Sure enough it was 10 minutes and we were seated and 10 minutes later the waitress came over and 20 minutes later we had our food. I had the Biscuit and Gravy and it had frozen cold spots in the middle. The waitress said she would get the kitchen to make another, but be-damned if I am going to have spit in my food. The manager come over and removed it from my bill and asked if I wanted her to remove it from the table. I said "if I were the manager I would take that shi# to the kitchen and make them eat it". If you are in the Orem area, go to Callies instead. They actually cook their food and dont heat it from frozen.

Im surprised Ive not reviewed here before. Its a Sunday brunch standard for years. I dont come here much for lunch, and never for dinner. I was here for lunch this time. I had the chicken fried chicken. Not bad, nothing really special. Thats the way most of the food is. Mass produced, OK. However, this place does it better than the local competition. Should you get Dylan, youre in great hands. We didnt and the service was no more than acceptable. At one point while we were hoping our server would find us, Dylan noticed and took care of us, even though it was not his area. The pies are always pretty good. So, more like 3.5 stars, but with no better options, I dont want to give it 3.

Normally I love Village Inn over other diners, but the service at this location is horrible. Our waitress had no patience in letting us decide what to order, then the staff all had a staff meeting on the floor while the three tables on our side were all still waiting for our food. We waited a horrendously long time for abysmal food. The bacon was barely cooked and covered in fat, got the wrong order on one plate, and their coffee tastes so stale its as if it was made and left out for a week. The staff was dressed very unprofessionally, some not even wearing aprons. This is one of the worst experiences Ive had... would never recommend.
