Best ribs in the Wasatch Valley: VERY VERY meaty, cooked perfectly. Cole slaw, pulled pork, beans, Brunswick stew, all good. The cook is to be applauded, the kitchen manager should be fired immediately. What little staff they had were disorganized, and at 11:30 am on Friday, April 4, 2014, they were already out of menu items including BBQ SAUCE! A BBQ place.....out of sauce! I asked for some sauce since our tables bottle was almost empty. The employee told ME to go table to table to find some because they were out of sauce in the back. Out of sauce.....a BBQ place.... The food is good, the ribs are the best in the whole valley, but my suggestion is to call in an order, and ask what they are already out of. Make sure they have sauce in stock for what you are ordering. It is a shame the management is so poor when the food is so good. UPDATE: 27 DECEMBER 2014 We thought wed give them a third try, but same old, same old. Good food, horrible service. Ribs were tender and flavorful, but much smaller than we got in April. We called ahead 4 hours to order them to be picked up at 5 pm. We got there at 5, they said they werent ready and we waited for 20 minutes. We asked for sauce on the side and didnt get any, and then they said they dont give paper receipts anymore. When we got home and checked our email, they had charged us $22.95 for each rack of ribs instead of the $19.95 that is listed on the website. Thats it....were done. Well try Rib City next as someone suggested.

I am actually quite disappointed at this rating that I had to give. I had hear lots of great things about this place, and was very excited to try it... They were out of four meats at the time I went, which I understand as it takes so long to cook the various types of meat, so I give them a pass for that one. We ordered, and sat down. It took 35 minutes to get our food, which was a little annoying. We got everything except my two-meat plate. They said it would be a few minutes for the ribs...After about fifteen more minutes of waiting I asked if I could have the rest of my food and just get the ribs when they were ready. My plate must have been sitting out the whole time, as everything was cold. I ate the rest of what I had ordered, and went back for my ribs. Note: at this point we have been there for about 1 hour and 15 minutes. I asked the girl at the register to just box up the ribs so I could take them home. She went into the back for OVER 10 minutes...no one at the register and no one else up front. At that point I was done. So I left the ribs that I had paid for. In all that time, I never got one apology or even a comment on the delay... VERY HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE! I may be missing some amazing ribs like all the other reviews say...I guess I will never know.

When I walked in to 5 Star BBQ Co, I was greeted with delicious smells of slowly cooked meets and freshly brewed sauce. The lady behind the counter was jovial and welcomed me with a cheery smile. She recommended a bunch of things to try for my first time and even knew what I would like. I ended up going against her recommendations and decided on the Super nachos to share with a friend. The delivery was very quick, but they had forgotten to put the meet on both our bowls of nachos. They quickly repaired the mistake, but it was a silly mistake none the less. I think I may have just ordered the wrong thing when I came in for my first time. The nachos were smothered in too much sauce and not enough pork. The sauce was great, but very very overbearing. The chili bean mix on top also seemed a bit much. My friend and I didnt finish the dish because it just didnt sit right. However this was my first experience and it was good enough and smelled promising enough that I will be going back to try something new!

If you want good BBQ go to the Smoking Apple. I have attempted 5 star bbq twice now and have had terrible experiences. • First time they were out of Briskets and I walked out. • The second time I paid $25 for cold brisket for two. • I asked them for warm brisket for my wife and I and we were given slimy, greasy, fatty brisket that tasted like it was cooked in an oven 10 minutes later!! It was TERRIBLE! I can smoke better brisket then 5 Star BBQ. • Then it took 20 minutes to get us our mash potatoes and garlic bread after giving it to them on our plate of COLD MEAT. • The ribs were ok but lacked meat. Barely any meat on them! The service is terrible, the meat was terrible. There is nothing “5 Star” about this place. Go to Smoking Apple (70 N State St, Lindon), I lived in Texas for a few years, my wife is from North Carolina, we know good BBQ and The Smoking Apple is the place to go around here. It’s better quality and easier on the wallet. Don’t waste your time and money on 5 Star BBQ.

I used to be a religious disciple of Five Star BBQ..... However, it sold to new owners a while back, and while Im sure intentions are good, theys killed some real deal breakers. First, they changed the buns and the new ones are TERRIBLE. Also, they used to roll the face of buns in a butter concoction and then place them on a griddle. Now they use more of a kaiser roll, and just run it thru a toaster... Next, the brisket has become dried out and salty....essentially beef jerky. Lastly, the prices went up substantially. It used to be a cool dive, like a roadhouse biker bbq joint, and now it seems to be trying to be family friendly and make more money (cheaper quality food, understaffed) Like I said, I have tried it 3 times under the new management and after every time I swear to myself, it will be the last.... I will stick to my guns this time. Not worth the money or the time.

This place is generally one of my favorite BBQ places to eat in Utah County. The venue is older and somewhat out of place, but the food and selections you get are good. I really enjoy their mac n cheese. The staff is also generally friendly, and they have a huge upstairs where you can eat and watch sports. With that said, lately they seem to be going down hill. The last two times Ive been, the upstairs was closed either for a party or cleaning, which cramped the downstairs with patrons. The food was cold, portions were smaller then I remember, and they were out of items. This didnt happen during non-peak times by the way. This was during peak, weekend hours where you would think things are on point. I will come here at least 1-2 more times and update my review, but if this continues then Ill find another BBQ place and will recommend others do the same.

Food was awesome, some seriously legit BBQ. Portion sizes were great. Therefore, you must be wondering why the 2 star rating? My wife and I walked in at 1 p.m. on a Saturday afternoon and no one was anywhere to be found. After standing around for 5 minutes we started calling for somebody. When still nobody came out to serve us, I literally had to WALK back into the kitchen to ask for some help. Not impressed. Then when I started ordering food they were out of coleslaw, out of potatoes salad, out of mashed potatoes and then when I got a drink, there was no syrup for the Coca-Cola. Too bad, because the food at this place is out of this world. However their customer service and preparation has MUCH to be improved upon. It will take some serious BBQ cravings to get me back to this place. And for these reasons. TWO STARS
