The food was good. We ordered 4 dishes and 1 appetizer during their buy 3 get 1 free cash only time. But the service was somewhat lacking. The first dish and the last dish came at least 20 minutes apart and the server was unsure if we ordered the last dish when she brought it over. The server only talked to us 4 times. The first was to order food. The second was after they brought the second dish, at this time I asked for another fork or a pair of chopsticks because I gave my 1 year old my fork and I also asked for a refill on my drink. They never brought the extra utensils so I had to improvise with the serving spoons they gave with each plate. Afterwards, we sat there for 10 minutes waiting to get our rice refilled because here were no servers in the room. Then when she came out we tried to wave her over but she just made eye contact with us several times and ignored us for 5 minutes. So the third time I talked to the server was when she was clearing the table next to us, I asked her for a refill on rice and she asked if I needed boxes I said yes, she brought over 1 small box filled with rice but no boxes for the rest of our leftovers. She then left us for about 5 mins again and ignored us. My girlfriend decided to step out with the baby thinking that his walking around the table was bothering the servers and thats why they were ignoring us. She was waiting in the car for 5 more minutes before I was able to get the rest of the boxes. The fourth time I talked to her was at the end when she brought the check, they discounted the cheap appetizer instead of one of the 4 similarly priced dishes. I asked if I could just pay for the appetizer separately so we could get one of the similarly priced ones discounted. The server said she had to ask the owner, within a min she came back and said she couldnt discount the similarly priced dish and couldnt separate the ticket. So I just took it as a loss and went to the front counter to pay for it, the servers behind the counter were talking bad about me in Chinese, which is my native language. It just left a bad taste in the end. Not recommending anymore.

First time I came here I had the white fish with scallions and black bean sauce... It was most excellent cooked to perfection! This time I had Mongolian beef... Its hard to find a good Chinese restaurant that knows how to cook Mongolian beef just perfectly! Im going to miss this restaurant when Im traveling but Ill always come back here when Im in town, I cant give it enough Stars 10 would be not enough. The negative reviews you see here on Yelp are surprising. Ive been here twice now and both times have never had to ask for even a refill. The employees are courteous and thoughtful. The only thing I can think of is possibly the negative reviews were just either people in a bad mood or they just hit this restaurant at the wrong time. We all have bad days dont we? On a side note, the kind of Chinese restaurant I like to go to is where most Chinese people happen to eat... Not the Americanized Chinese versions that you see so much of. All I can say is, Yelpers... Check this place out, its awesome! By the way, my servers name was Jeremy.

I am hugely enthusiastic about Chinese food, and very particular about authenticity. Having spent years in China and Taiwan, I do not go for Americanized Chinese food. Chef Gao aka Sweet Ginger nails it. This is the real deal. Very authentic. Everything I ate there tasted great. Furthermore, those who miss the ambiance of old-style restaurants in China will be please by the polished cement floor and the paper art on the walls. This, along with Moms Kitchen, are my hands-down favorites for Chinese cuisine in the Salt Lake City area. (and yes, I have been to the Mandarin in Bountiful, which is good but not nearly as authentic) I have not seen it crowded, and service has always been prompt and professional. I hear the restaurant is for sale, which worries me a bit. Better get there fast for another great meal, just in case quality collapses with the sale.

Dont listen to people like Jessica Wang and others that complain about everything in a restaurant except the food. Why do you pick one Chinese restaurant over another? The food. Im a Mandarin Chinese School Teacher, and my years in Taiwan have given me some understanding of what is good Chinese food. Sweet Ginger is REALLY good! So, they werent particularly welcoming, but who cares? What matters is, did they get my order right? yes Did they take too long to help me? No Was the food really good? Again, yes. Authentic too Did it cost too much? No. Price was reasonable If they dont ask my name and rub my shoulders, thats okay by me. All that matters is the food and if theyre timely. As for the large group where they tack on 18 percent, Ms. Wang, they wouldnt have to do that if certain people would start leaving a tip.

We went in today for lunch around 1 and we stood at the doorway for a good five minutes before anyone came by to seat us. By the way, there were waitresses walking past us doing nothing. When we were seated we were asked to order a minute later immediately. I asked if they had potatoes that werent soaked in water before for our dish and the server very rudely told us that the cook was to busy and would not help our needs. Okay thats fine. Not a word was said when the food was brought over to us and no one ever came to our table to ask us how our meal was. We did not see the waitress at all and ended walking up to the desk for our check and boxes. The food was poor and salty and the rice was crispy and old.

The food was great, the whole Asian side of my family enjoyed it. The service sucks. Theyre a couple teenage kids with their moody millennial attitudes. Actually, I shouldnt bag on millennials. These kids just didnt want to be there. For example giving one of our party an attitude for asking for more white rice, or getting soup without bowls and spoons. Then only getting half the amount of bowls and even less spoons than people in our group. For a while we were the only guests there. Drop the attitude and do your job, well. Youd probably make a lot more per week in tips. The cook, though, whomever it is - is talented! Maybe bring your own bowl and spoon and enjoy the meal. Haha.

How is it that an Asian restaurant doesnt have lunch specials or smaller portions? I went into the restaurant and asked for the lunch menu. The server said they didnt do lunch specials. So my bill came to $25, and I had way too much food than I wanted. Im disgusted by this practice. I ordered the Kung Pao Chicken and Shrimp Fried Rice. The chicken was excellent but the fried rice left much to be desired. Mainly because I only found perhaps four pieces of shrimp in that massive plate of rice. I kept thinking of Melissa McCarthys character in that new Ghostbusters remake. About how she kept lamenting about the lack of wontons in her soup. I left knowing exactly how she felt.
