Wow! I thought I would never find high quality authentic cantonese food in Phx....until two very unlikely coworkers took me there for lunch! I typically judge a cantonese restaurant by their ability to cook dry style beef chow fun and boy...this place totally exceeded my expectations.. The beef chow fun and the milk black tea brought back nostalgic memories of eating in hong kong. Dishes that I recommend are the mapo tofu and black pepper chicken (yeah this is americanized but this is prob the best americanized black pepper chicken). The salt and black pepper squid was ok when I tried, I have had better... The menu is extensive! It is simply amazing how they are able to serve the number of customers with a very limited staff! Even though it was fairly busy when I went during lunch once, our party was able to get through our food within 15 minutes. This is the place I turn to when I am looking for chinese comfort food! Also this place is pretty cheap! =)

So, warning you up front- this place has no frills. Totally a hidden hole in the wall that is in no way fancy, but has a legit menu. My favorite is towards the back of the menu for the hong kong style dishes. All dishes are reasonably priced with wings and appetizers from $2.50-4.50 and main plates from $4-8.00. Portions are huge. When my fiance and I are feeling lazy and not trying to spend too much money, we drive 5 minutes and come to Asian Cafe Express. The best deal (imo) is the family set dinner for $25.50. That includes a vegetable plate or soup, white rice ( $2 extra for fried) and then 3 entrees of your choice. For $25 it feeds us dinner, and then lunch for another few days. Easily enough for 5-6 people in my opinion. They get REALLY busy at dinner time but still provide quick service. They probably need to hire an extra busser, but they all work hard and churn out massive quantities of good Chinese food.

Was terrible. Met and my family just had the worst experience. There was not to many people at the restaurant and we waited over 45 mins. To even get our order taken. Add on to that the food was terrible. To add even more dirt, my mother happened to see the worker in the back drop some food onto the floor and picked it up with his bare hands and put it with the reat of the foods. We were not served our water, we waited 10 mins. for boxes and another 5 min for the check. Many others were disappointed on the wait and left, some even roaring in flames. One of the workers did give a man the wrong checks and credit cards. That is irresponsible for anyone to do. I was very displeased, and sicken from the food and service. I DO NOT RECOMMEND!

Absolutely the best Asian food around the Phoenix, Tempe, Mesa areas. Giant portions for very little money. Try ordering from both the "Americanized" and Chinese menus. There is your traditional fare like orange chicken, chow mein and teryaki chicken. I prefer the Chinese menu due to the authentic tastes and something different. The black pepper chicken is delicious. There are pictures all over the walls and counters so you can see what is in a dish that you may not recognize by name. The food is made fast and is so good that I will drive over 15 miles to get it. If you are hungry and on a budget, this is the place to go.

Best authentic Chinese food around, just a rather far drive for me. Really thick menu too, you can get anything here, even spaghetti i think. Havent tried the american style chinese food here so cant speak on that, though it would seem pretty pointless to order that. If you like authentic then go here, and youll love it. But hey, if you like American chinese food then just go to Panda Express, its about the same price, its not very good but very American. And at asian cafe, order the noodles crunchy, and they wont be so greasy.

I had the satay sauce combo chow fun, which was the perfect level of spicy and flavorful. My boyfriend had a pork rice bowl which he really liked. They did accidentally bring him chow mein rather than the fried rice he had order, however, when he said something, they brought him the fried rice too. The crab puffs were pretty standard and the sweet chili chicken dumplings were a bit on the salty side but very yummy. We had two entrees, two drinks, and two appetizers for $25, plus tons of leftovers. Definitely going back.

Holy cow this is the best Asian restaurant in the area. More food than you can shake a stick at. We go regularly and havent gotten through a quarter of their menu. Try the tapioca or red bean tea super tasty. Want your food really fresh? You can bring in your own seafood from the Asian market across the street and they will cook it for you. The prices are phenomenal and the staff is great! They remember regulars and welcome everyone. Get past the divey nature of the restaurant they always get A ratings!

I have been a loyal patron of this establishment for going on 8 years now, this restaurant is by far, one of the best asian restaurants I have ever been to. They serve authentic asian cuisine, they are fast, food is fresh, fairly priced and so delicious. I live a bit of a ways from here and I cant always take this drive and end up eating somewhere else, then I regret it later! They are hidden in a place near Big O tires and next to Subway, on the SE corner of the street, go try them!

This place rules. Its good food at a good price. Of course there is a couple of mediocre items (its chinese food, cmon) but out of the vast menu thats pretty damn good. My favorites are the combo fried rice, squid w/ black bean sauce, kung pow, twice cooked pork, and the chili salt chicken wings. Im sure i will find more as i only started coming here a couple months ago. Totts used to be my go-to but 12 dollars for half a plate of rice and half entree isnt really much bang for buck.

The fried rice is pretty much the best thing ever. It must contain some sort of secret magic because I cant stop eating it. Seriously, I could eat it every day. We love pretty much all the entrees. The black pepper chicken is top notch, as are the curry chicken and the salt & pepper squid. Im not a tea guy but my wife loves the boba and Hong Kong style coffee. Also, the price is ridiculous. $6 for a huge rice bowl with a full serving of chicken? Incredible.

This is my favorite Asian food place! They offer authentic cuisine (including some obscure dishes like Yin Yang Fried Rice (which is absolutely delicious)) and some pretty standard "Asian" food for those who dont want the authentic fare. The staff are all super friendly, and Ive never had a bad experience here! Not only are the portion sizes large, but they dont break the bank like a lot of other places! The menu is huge too! 10/10 Would Recommend.
