My partner and I decided to try this place on a Saturday around 6. Weve heard a lot of great reviews from friends about this place. We were about a 20 min drive away so we called ahead seating. When we got there it was packed, the host told us it would be an 40 min wait. I could not tell if he was kidding or not? We decided to wait, we had nothing else going on that evening. It was only a 10 minute wait, which wasnt bad seeing as we called ahead. We ordered the Tropical Thai Tofu and Pepper Tofu dishes at $10 a piece. Not too bad if you enjoy "delicious quality" food, I say. The food arrived fast, within 10 min. The tofu was maybe pan cooked? It was almost raw. The Tropical Thai dish was bright orange in color, something you would expect to see at Panda Express and did not have much taste other than sweet pineapple. I could barely eat it, the texture of the Tofu was just too rubbery. I was expecting something like a Thai curry. It turned out to taste more like a sweet and sour dish and I could not tell if it had curry or coconut milk in it. The pepper tofu was almost black in color and had an okay taste "thank goodness for soy sauce and pepper" and the vegetables "bell pepper and onion is all" were nearly raw as well as the tofu. We did not ask for a to go box and will not be going back. We dont recommend this place for vegetarians that enjoy flavor, a variety of vegetables in their dish and fried tofu.

OVERVIEW - 4.25 Snuck here one afternoon after work with my wife. The reason I say snuck is because we have family that lives in Bountiful, and we didnt want them to know of our intentions to dine out. LOCATION - 3 If youre not a local or have never been here before, this place can be easily missed as it is on a side street. PRICE - 4 The prices can be a little steep, but to be honest, it is well worth it. PRODUCT/SERVICE - 5 This has got to be the best Chinese Food I have ever had. My wife agrees as well. This was the first place she ate when she made it to the states and holds a special place in her heart. POINTERS/PERKS - N/A None comes to mind, Im sure there are some special perks, but I dont know them. EMPLOYEES - 5 Our waitress was amazing, and made sure my soft drink was never empty. It is also interesting to note, the owner came by. Hes probably in his later eighties or early nineties. He was very friendly, and it seems like everyone that eats there has had a family member work there. I know my uncle worked there back in the early 80s or late 70s. I think he was a bus boy.

A local favorite with a baffling 4.5 star rating. After living in Bountiful for about a year, its clear that the locals dont "get out" much and the rating of this resturant poves as much. We called ahead as was recommended online because of the typical wait time. We were told that there would be a 45 minute wait so we planned our arrival for 40 minutes later. After checking in we waited another 50 minutes. This was for a party of 2! We ordered egg rolls, moo shu pork, and Generals chicken. The egg rolls where clearly home made and very good. The moo shu pork was respectable but nothing great. The generals chicken was bad. The breading was soggy and mushy and the sauce tasted like pure hoisen sauce. There was no spice or depth of flavor whatsoever. Over all it was a really disappointing visit. I cant understand the popularity of this place. Maybe its the overdone decor that keeps them coming back in spite of its short comings. If youre in need of your Chinese fix make the 10 minute drive to La-Cai Noodle House or South China Kitchen in SLC.

Ive been going to this restaurant for years. It was a favorite and always worth the wait. We recently had a difficult dining experience. ( I have edited this post after I received a call from the manager.) My visit is no longer important. I was told on this phone call that because I believed the staff and didnt ask for the manager that my experience was a result of a bad attitude and determination to have a bad experience. No apologies made and I was told her intention was certainly not to invite me back. A bad experience was made worse. Im really sorry I offended you. It wasnt my intention but I must say I havent felt bullied like that since gang beaten on a playground at age 6. My sole reason for posting is to prevent anyone else from posting and experiencing the same. Im still in disbelief. Ive since read worse reviews than mine with a much different outcome. God uses all things for good. Im letting this one rest in His hands now.

I am pretty particular about Asian Cuisine and The Mandarin has great food; but the management there is pretentious to say the least. The wait staff, however, is very friendly. Maybe Im just not the type of person who likes to eat at a restaurant that requires me to practically beg to get a table but Im sure no one is the type of person who likes to have their business shrugged off. I honestly feel bad for the people who work there. One can only imagine how they are treated when the management treats their customers this poorly. The Mandarin really is over rated for what it offers. There are better restaurants in Utah that are still humble, quality places with good food, and the owners really do appreciate your business. Is the food worth being treated like they are doing you a favor??? Absolutely not- well, maybe if the management didn’t have such an active role with their customers. Bottom line, there are better places out there.

What a hidden gem! The decor is top notch, they really went all out. Monday night dinner crowd we waited maybe 10 minutes, which was way less than the hostess anticipated, and we were sat in the Garden Room like we requested. Your wait time estimate does not start until everyone in your party is in the building. This place has a wall by the bathrooms where you can see the various awards they have received, where I could see into the kitchen I saw the owner working, the other lady owner was one of our several servers. Every time we had a dirty plate it was taken away quickly. Our water glasses never got below half full. Im amazed at the options on the menu, unique flavor combinations, everything was prepared perfectly with high quality ingredients. Again I was amazed that our bill was only $66 before tip for 4 entrées and two appetizers! Stop reading this and just go!!

If youre an out-of-stater like me who loves rich spicy Chinese food do not go here. You will be disappointed. All the locals love it but its about as close to real Chinese food as Taco Bell is to real Mexican food. The building was very cold and drafty and when our food showed up it was already cold, the flavor was bland, and the meet was very very dry (like, I had to take with water it was so dry). The service was fine but the tables were packed in there like sardines and with a nearly full house it was very loud. All the locals swear by the place and whenever I drive past it its always packed so maybe I just ordered the wrong thing and came on the wrong day. That said It was awful food and about the least authentic Chinese Ive had in years.
