I havent lived in AZ since the turn of the Millennium but to this day the Golden Phoenix (or Jimmys as I remember it) is still hands down my favorite Szechuan. I would go in there alone and order $45 worth of dishes. There is one dish however that James chef did that has absolutely ruined me for... the HOT & SOUR SPICY SOUP* my god! Never in the last 16 or however many years of my searches of the China Towns in various cities have I found anything like this. Everyone who visited me in AZ would be treated to this experience and it was unanimously agreed, best Hot & Sour. If you dont have the pallet for spicy you cant go wrong with Mu Shu dishes, oh hell order everything and take home 26lbs of leftovers. I miss you so badly Golden. All this reminiscing, I may have to fly back this winter just for dinner.

I was told to bring them a doctors note when complaining that the chicken in my food smelled rotten. So, I must incur hospital bills just to prove a restaurant wrong? I only settled with this restaurant because its the only one that delivers. When stating it really does smell funny, I was told that my nasal and oral senses are different from everyone elses and thats just how we cook it. Good service? Authentic food? Give me a wok, chopsticks or a metal ladle, garlic, oil, rice, chicken, soy sauce (the real stuff please), eggs, green onion, and mixed vegetables and Ill show you what real Chinese food should be like.

Took a chance and decided to try this place out. The restaurant is older but the decor was beautiful! It had age and the detail of all the woodwork was stunning. The appetizer was very good, I enjoyed the chicken wings the most. I ordered the sweet and sour chicken with fried rice. The veggies were all fresh but the chicken and fried rice lacked flavor. The service was very nice but some people by the front door were waiting up to 15 minutes just to be greeted. There was only one waitress working the floor during lunch so she was trying her best. Over not a terrible place.

I have been eating at the Golden phoenix for close to 25 years. Kien and Maria are wonderful, and have kept The Golden Phoenix running like clock work. Food is consistently AMAZING. outside of lunch everything is served family style. there are 2 private rooms that can be made into one large room for parties. There are large tables strategically though-out the restaurant, great for big groups. If you would like something very traditional or more american fair it can all be found here. Took me and my family years to work our way through the menu.

Husband and I came for the first time tonight for dinner. They are extremely nice and very customer service oriented. We had a dinner special for 2 which includes soup or egg roll (no doubt best egg roll in my life), honey walnut shrimp, orange peel chicken, cauliflower beef, plus a honey fried banana for desert. It was amazing! Everything for $25 with tax. Just the service here itself is definitely worth coming back. Really glad we found this place.

Please if you are even thinking of going to this place DO NOT! I ordered the shrimp fried rice, sweet and sour chicken, steamed dumplings, and the beef chow mein. The only thinking that was somewhat edible was the the shrimp fried rice. The dumplings were literally falling apart. I normally do not write reviews but this place was so bad that I just had to! I spent $40 on food that was not even worth it.

One of our favorite places of all time! Weve been coming here for about 12 years now. The Golden Phoenix is such a comfort! There just arent any more restaurants like this. Its a sit down restaurant with no buffet. They do offer great lunch specials and great dinner combos. Its a Mom and Pop restaurant and they work so hard! Please come visit Golden Phoenix, we highly recommend it!

Love their food! As a family we have been going to this family owned restaurant, not many out there! For over 20 + years!! Prices are good for quantity and the quality is awesome, always! When husband was with cancer, that was his go to food! War Soup.. not the correct name but we called it that to fight the cancer. Excellent service, too!!!

After moving out here 3 years ago I have tried probably 10 different Chinese restaurants, only to be disappointed by every single one of them. Golden Phoenix is the best I have found. I just ordered the shrimp fried rice and crispy duck and both are amazing! The staff was extremely friendly too. Enjoy :]

Consistently delivers great service and great food ....and you wont go broke! And you wont get ripped off on take out....same food quantity same wonderful flavors. Walnut chicken a must, beef skewer appetizer gotta have, hot and sour soup...get it when you get a cold and you feel better already. Just go!

Ive been eating at the Golden Phoenix for a couple of years now. It seems like its family operated. Food is terrific, nice atmosphere (background music is serene), and service is really good. I highly recommend their lunch specials, you wont find better deals. Try it first, thank me later :)

This is now the only Chinese food I will ever eat again!! Everything is made fresh including their egg drop soup. Simply the best! Even if you do not like Chinese food you have to try Golden Phoenix! The little tea cups with hot tea is a wonderful touch. Definitely recommend this place.

food was pretty average, the service was mediocre, it took over five minutes to get our drink order, and over ten minutes to get our drinks. the waitress kept asking us if we were done and eventually took our plates with hours before closing time. I will not go back.

PRICED RIGHT.... I was INSTANTLY IMPRESSED by the Friendly Server, CLEANLINESS (THE DRINKING GLASSES WERE SPOTLESS!!!) and The BEAUTIFUL DECOR (DATE NIGHT WORTHY)....Our orders were Accurate, The Beef Fried Rice and The Sweet&Sour Chicken was Delicious.

Been enjoying Golden Phoenix for 40 years and it is still my go to for Chinese eating in their beautifully decorated restaurant and for take-out. Try the Spicy Beef and the Mooshoo Pork, and dont forget to order the Poo Poo Platter as an appetizer.

Great food, great customer service I go and get duck all the time. Even after 4 months of not going she remembered me and what I order. Very friendly staff. Good price range. Great place for families ! Have been going here for atleast 10 years now

The lunch specials are fantastic! Lunch specials are offered Sunday through Friday and the selection is great. The lunch special comes with soup, won ton, egg roll and fried rice. Id recommend this place to anyone who is in the mood for a good meal.

This food is horrible. I ordered 3 dishes and all of them were bland, meat was chewy and the main flavors came from the dipping sauces. The staff is incredibly friendly and the eating areas are clean. The food is the worst chinese ive ever tasted.
