My experience with the management here was comical, infuriating, and left me feeling sorry for staff that has to work for such incompetent management. I purchased a $25 Landrys Select Club membership several months ago and was told I would receive $25 off on my next visit as well as $25 off on my birthday, which was tonight. So we go expecting $50 off of our ticket. AFTER our meal had been served and eaten, the manager attempted to explain that our card was not registered and didnt even show up in their system. I showed him the receipt where I had paid for it originally that I kept with the card. He said "Im sorry, theres nothing I can do. I wont be able to give you your $50 off." After several minutes of arguing he leaves and comes back giving me discounts that totaled $28, but charged me another $25 for a new card because the old one wouldnt work!!!! So he says that "$3 off is all I can do." At this point I became extremely upset and got up from the table to walk away from him and the other patrons before causing a bigger scene than what had already occurred. He followed my family to the front telling other staff in his little mic to "call the police because they are walking out without paying"!!!! I asked for my waiter, paid he bill, and began talking to another manager that did his best to handle the situation. Still, my card was charged the full amount and he said that it wouldnt be, even when I showed him via text from my bank that my card had already been charged. Anyway....needless to say I will NEVER step foot here again, and do everything I can to discourage others from the possibilities of this same treatment.

As someone who rarely frequents a steakhouse because Im terribly picky when it comes to how my steak is cooked and flavored, it was a nice getaway from cooking at home. As most people know, dining at ANY steakhouse is going to set you back much more than doing it at home, and Saltgrass isnt any different. Fortunately we had a gift card left over from Christmas, so that helped offset some of the expense. My steak was just ok, (I had Maudines center cut) it was void of the flavor I had hoped, just sort of bland. Everything else was what you would expect, salad, baked potato, nothing overwhelming that would make me want to return. My sweetheart had prime rib, so 2 meals, one beer and 2 cocktails set me back $100, add a $20 tip and Im already thinking I should be (and will be from now on) firing up my own grill! The reason I give this place 4 stars is because if you want good service, this IS the place to come. Our waitstaff was attentive without being too bothersome, and we never wanted for anything. The experience was enjoyable and we went during a time that it wasnt too busy. Unfortunately there really wasnt anything else that set it apart from the several other steakhouses in the Waco area, I think in the future Ill stay home and have steak and cocktails for less than half the price. But if your in town visiting with no access to a grill, its not a bad experience, just bring your wallet.

Understanding that we went on a Friday night, we expected a wait. We didnt expect to be seated and wait 15 minutes for drinks (iced tea and Dr. Pepper), 15 more minutes to order, and 70 minutes for food to arrive to table. We ordered an appetizer, knowing that we would wait for the main course. We both ordered ribeyes and shrimp. The steak tasted great and was very tender...however it was less than 1/2 inch thick, my wife compared it to a breakfast steak. The steaks were also full of fat. Honestly, more than 50% of our steak was solid fat. My wife had grilled shrimp with hers, she says the shrimp were good. I had BBQ shrimp, they were breaded, filled with cream cheese and jalapeños. They were soaked in a sweet bbq sauce. I couldnt stomach them, but ate them once I scraped everything off of them. The best part of the night was our waiter. It wasnt his fault that we wont return. He was so apologetic that it took 20 minutes for chips. This was our second trip to a Saltgrass, the first one was in Round Rock. We have decided it is a corporate thing...both times were so disappointing. My wife wants me to mention that she felt that it was unprofessional for the staff to be hovering around the computer terminal...one fella never moved from that spot. He just stood there staring. Weird.

Came in for dinner with my family. After 45 minutes the only thing we had was drinks, and I had to ask twice for the kids drinks. We ordered appetizers along with our meal, I checked with the waiter at the 45 minute mark about the food and was told that our meals would be right out, when questioned if that was the appetizers or the main meal he acted stunned and apparently knew nothing of the appetizers At this point I told him just to forget them, then the manager came up and apologized and returned a few minutes later with the appetizers that I had canceled, she offered to give us one for free, of course while all this was going on our entrees arrived. After all of this it took us an hour to eat, they didnt bring the salad that I ordered and still charged me for appetizers that I had told them to cancel I wont be back, lousy way to do business and just incompetence by them all.

Excellent meal served with finesse. The decor was rustic and the service fast and friendly. I love that theres a choice of mules. Im a big fan of the Moscow mule. My grapefruit honey mule was so delicious that I ordered a second! The bread that was brought out was warm and served with whipped butter. The Bleu cheese wedge was crisp and delicious. I have never had quail before so I took a chance on the bacon wrapped quail appetizer. And Im glad I did. It was wonderful served over Brussels sprouts. I couldnt even begin to finish my pork chop and garlic mashed potatoes,so I took a to-go box home. All in all, a wonderful meal start to finish.

Was in Waco for business and didnt want to travel far from the hotel for lunch before a long 12 hour shift. On my first visit I ordered my steak medium well but it was a thin cut and ended up quite well. Only because the manager stopped to ask me randomly how my meal was, I told him the steak was overcooked. He was very apologetic and was trying to give me a freebie but I declined. I ended up going there 7 more times during my 2 week visit because of the following reasons... - Excellent menu. Loved the early dinner options and the price cant be beat. - Friendly and attentive staff. - Consistency of food. Thanks Saltgrass Waco!

The food was pretty great. A bit on the salty side, but if you can cut your chicken fried chicken with a fork.. I mean.... but theyre definitely new. You can tell, they have a lot of training to do. Their waitstaff definitely could use work. Drink refills were few and far between, and the table next to us was showered in water and tea. Of course, the server wasnt about to take blame. She put it on whoever loaded the tray, because obviously, if she had a problem with it, she was absolutely incapable of rearranging the tray. Maybe theyll get better with age.
