Im not going to say this was my worst dining experience ever but this was definitely the biggest waste of $156.00 Ive ever spent. Weve been here before and loved it. But last night they sat us in the front room used for overflow on busy nights. The night started off well. Ordered food and wine. The problem started when our waiter was absent most of the time. We stayed over two hours and there were times our waiter wouldnt come check on us for over 30 minutes. Our glasses were empty more times than full. I even got up once and refilled all our glasses myself using a water pitcher that was left in there. One time it got so ridiculous that another waiter that wasnt even ours came over and refilled our glasses for us because we were just sitting there waiting so long on ours to come check on us. My daughter had fried rice and didnt eat it all and our waiter said he would box it up for us to take home and he didnt return with it and just threw her food away. We even chose to wait 1.5 hours for a table because our last experience here was so amazing we figured it was worth the wait. Time of visit- 01/08/2016 7:45 pm to 10:00 pm Table 65 Food was amazing Hostess was amazing Service was horrible

So far, Sushihana is the best Japanese restaurant I have found in San Antonio (not that Ive been to many). I will also mention that the servers Ive had were far above-average, especially for this not being a fine-dining establishment. The wife really enjoyed the Naruto, which is snow crab and avocado wrapped in cucumber and topped with spicy mayo. She also enjoyed her chicken soba soup as the chicken was moist and flavorful, much like the broth and rest of the soup. Her enjoying these dishes is far more important than me enjoying these dishes as she grew up eating this food close to the source (Japan). I enjoyed the chicken yakitori. The chicken was cooked right - flavored and moist. The 1 1/2 inch green onion stalk that accompanied each bite was just the right balance of bitterness to counter the sweetness of the teriyaki sauce. My entree consisted of chicken yakisoba, which is my favorite here in SA. The noodle were cooked well, the chicken was well-cooked and moist, and the flavor of the dish was bold. In short, Sushihana has been great every occasion weve went. When we have a Japanese craving, this is where we always go (until/unless we find another great restaurant!)

If you are going with your friends to this place to get some sushi, and you are a vegetarian (you only eat plants) then there is hardly anything for you here. I ended up getting the cucumber salad and it was really good! and my friend got the sushi and he really liked it. I was hoping they would have a cucumber or avocado roll - just so I could be part of it, but I made due. Ive had all kinds of vegetable rolls from so many other places including Sweet Potato rolls, carrot rolls, asparagus rolls, etc. I was disappointed that this highly rated sushi restaurant didnt really have much for me besides Salad. I did really enjoy their plum wine though. I recommend if you are a real sushi eater then come here, if not - you might need to go somewhere else.

Being a newcomer to San Antonio, I have had a difficult time finding comparable dining experiences to which I was spoiled with in Austin. I chose to try out Sushihana today for my lunch break and was very pleased. I was seated and greeted by my server immediately despite the restaurant being very busy. My server was very polite and helpful. I ordered the Chefs sushi special. It came out in about 10-15 minutes and was plated beautifully. The portion was huge and exceeded my expectations. All the ingredients tasted fresh and delicious. The atmosphere in the restaurant was very pleasant and I cant think of a single complaint. Although it is no Uchiko, Sushihana is a great spot for your sushi cravings. I will be returning there soon.

We came at 5:30 for happy hour (4-6:30). Us and 5 other separate couples waiting for tables sat and stared at at least 5 empty tables while the time ticked away and the staff took 15 minutes to bus each new table. Somehow they miraculously found tables for all of us at 6:33. 3 minutes after happy hour ended. We still ordered sushi and the rolls we ordered were all tiny and all seemed to be 1/2 crab salad even though they were the $15 rolls that should have had eel, soft shell crab, etc. We were repeat customers that have really enjoyed it in the past and it was our favorite sushi place in San Antonio, but will likely not be coming back again. Staff has gone down hill for sure.

All around, this place is a gem for SA. Three colleagues and I stopped in for dinner and left no stone unturned (with the exception of dessert). Apps were the perfect preface to well prepared array of rolls, displayed on a sushi boat, and one of our non-sushi fans had the sea bass that was highly praised. The service was on par, and the sake list was exceptional. Our favorite dish had to be the spicy edamame to start. Save the sauce for your entrees, youre welcome. I gave this a 4 out 5 stars for one reason. I am a spoiled traveling consultant, and have had great sushi in my day. Unfortunately, this was sub par to other parts of the U.S.

Microscopic portions. Twice I have eaten a $20 lunch their and left hungry, dont plan on going back again. The salmon sashimi portion is 5 pieces slightly larger than a quarter, I would estimate less than 2 oz. By far the smallest portion I have ever seen in my life. Oh, and I weigh < 180 lbs, so its not like I eat huge lunches, I just expect something more than a tiny snack for $20. Edit: I just tried Godai down the street. Their salmon sashimi portion is at least 3 times as large, or put another way you would have to spend $27 at Sushihana to get one $9 Godai portion. Best value in town?

Delicious and fresh- we found on google as we dont live here- had cucumber salad, house salad that was delicious with a ginger dressing and crab cakes that were also very good! My husband had spur sushi that was very very good and daughters had beef tenderloin kebabs that was very soft and good and chicken yakisoba that was very good too. The squash tempura was good but not great. Service was good and professional but not great but I prefer great food over a bubbly waiter anyway so we will definitely return next time we are in San Antonio.

My fiance and I eat sushi several times a wrek, and were highly disappointed after paying $40 for below par sushi. The rolls were very small, not fulfilling, and overall unappealing. The classic California roll usually runs $4.50... $6 here!! Outrageous. Also, they charged an additional $1 for sushi add ons... crazy. Never returning. I write reviews for several different websites and will not be recommending my fellow Co workers to come here. Not sure how it made it onto Zaggats list...

If you are looking for high quality asian food in a nice atmosphere. This is the place. Our family usually enjoys a sushi roll or two to start, followed by a nice plate each from the hot side of the restaurant. Our favorites include the Atlantic Salmon topped with crap meat, or the Lamb Chops. Very nice wine list, at very fair prices. Wait staff all know us by name, and make us feel special. First restaurant that always comes to mind when we are talking about going out to dinner.
