The worst restaurant experience ever! If you’re not Korean, you’re just screwed. The Korean lady waitress was so rude! She can’t speak English and was rude to top it off!! She acted like we were inconveniencing her in some way. She didn’t bring the soybean paste for the meat, or the second beer my husband asked for. We asked for refills on side dishes and she missed a few as well as the lettuce. By the time she brought the items out, we were done with the meat. And it’s not like you can wait. Meats grilling and if you wait on her the meat will burn!!! Why send a non-English speaking waitress to a non-Korean speaking table! She was rude to the table next to us as well. Meat was way too expensive! $28.99 for 2 pieces of kalbi rib, $17.99 for 2 slices of pork belly. Really that’s supposed to fill up a person?!!! There were 5 of us and you figure for $100 order of meat you’d think you’re okay. However, couldn’t ask questions to the non-English speaking waitress!!!!!!!! The kimchee soup sucked! After arguing with the manager, she finally admitted that the kimchee they used was way too ripe and was willing to not bill us for it. However, she wasn’t willing to understand that $17.99 for 2 pieces of pork belly was outrageous. She was bartering meat prices with me. You’ve got an angry customer and you’re trying to barter prices lady?!!! Finally, just ended up agreeing to pay $12.00 instead of $17.99 for the pork belly so I could get out of that place. $6.00 for a pork belly…>: This place and its employees are absolutely clueless to customer service. Save your money and go to Koreana restaurant. You’ll get better food and better customer service there. Try the Seoul Oriental Market as well. Much, much better than this joke of a place! The only downside is those 2 places don’t offer the grilling experience, but you’ll be saved the aggravation and your sanity.

Kiku Garden is one of my regular lunch spots. The lunch menu is decent and includes the Kalbi Ribs and Pork bulgogi plates. The bulgogi here is the juicer type with grilled onions mixed in. Lunch specials come with all your traditional side dishes, kimchi, bean sprouts, pickled cucumber, potatoes, broccoli. The side dish selection sometimes varies a bit. This is an excellent place to meet co-workers or clients for lunch.. Ive taken many co-workers to this restaurant and its become a favorite with them. While the food quality is pretty consistent and through all my visits Ive never had a bad food experience, the service can be hit or miss. Ive had visits where drinks went empty, sauces were never brought to the table, sides were never refilled or items never brought. Ive had other visits where the waitress brought additional sides, dinner items, and made every effort to make sure everyone was happy. It all depends on the day and the waiter/waitress you get. As far as the food and flavors go, compared to other Korean restaurants the side dishes at this restaurant sometimes lack the flavor variety, sweet, spicy, pickled sour mixture. Portion sizes on the sides can sometimes be a bit small at lunch, but if your eating in a group the wait staff will usually bring more. The main entrees however are never disappointing. If you like Korean food, this is a must try. With the limited number of Korean BBQ restaurants in San Antonio, I put this one in the top 5.

What I am to Western food, my wife is to Eastern food. To me, this place just serves good Asian food. To my wife, this place serves some of the better Korean food in San Antonio. I readily confess I write this review as an amateur in Asian cuisine and rely heavily on my wifes opinions. I had the ?Kang bul gi? (forgot to write the name down, but essentially chicken in a spicy garlic chili sauce), and I thought the serving was plentiful and the taste was better than similar dishes elsewhere. I skipped all the kimchi, although my wife devoured it. She ordered the pork bulgogi that was marinated and grilled Gangnam... er... Korean style. I must say the flavor was excellent, and I was definitely jealous of her dish. The prices were steep, but thats typical of every Korean place weve ever been with one notable exception. In short, Kiku Garden offers great food at a somewhat high price. The wife says that Kiku Garden and Ilsong Garden are nearly equivalent, with the former being the slight victor. However, her favorite in San Antonio remains Chongs Korean Restaurant. Kiku Garden makes it into my top 4 Korean restaurants: 1) Chongs Korean, 2) Arirang Korean, 3) Kiku Garden, and 4) Ilsong Garden

I have tried 4 other Korean restaurants in the San Antonio area and this is by far the closest to Seoul quality I have found. This restaurant would do well if placed right in the middle of Seoul. Authentic, well made dishes. The sides were top notch. I had BBQ beef and leaf as well as Pork BBQ spicy. Perfect. The Kimchi was among the best I had ever tasted and the flavors really popped. I took two friends and their toddler with me and they had never had Korean food. It was my first time at Kiku Garden as well. I could not have been more pleased to find this place to introduce Korean cuisine to my friends. I will be back and suggest this as the place to go. One other side note. The place opened at noon today. We arrived at about 5 minutes till opening. There were 6 other cars in the parking lot with people waiting for the doors to open. I took that as an unmistakeable sign of quality.

I came in for a late lunch so the restaurant wasnt too busy. I sat at the sushi bar and the sushi chef was very friendly. I was seated less than a min and the waiter promptly brought a water and the house miso soup. After perusing the menu I thought it lacked for variety compared to other sushi restaurant s in the area. What they lacked for in selection was made up for in quality. While I was making my choice the chef handed a plate to me that had a tempura chip with some crab and mango salsa on it. I was impressed. The sushi chef offered to make his special for me and it was absolutely delicious. My girlfriend had the bulgogi sushi which was just as tasty. I also ordered the bi-bim-bap and was blown away by how good it was. I will definitely come back to try more of the menu.

Kimchi is really good, I want to start on a high note. Value is WAAAY off. My $15 chicken entree had cubed frozen carrots and peas. All around my table we agreed. We wont be coming back. There are tons of other Korean places on Rittiman to try. A friend told me they had some of the best sushi in town (I know, Korea is not Japan ;-), but a month ago stopped serving sushi. Service was okay, guy was pushy, asking halfway through ordering if we were going to order BBQ (we were at a BBQ table, and the OTHER half of the group was having BBQ). Dude, hold your horses!

So, this is my wife an my third time coming here. The previous two times were excellent, with great customer service and great food, but this time was lacking. Our server was supposedly new and continuously messed up. Luckily, the worker by the name of Jung, came over and made our entire experience worthwhile. We were planning on not coming back until his intervention. Thank you for a clean establishment, and I hope you get more workers like Jung on your staff. Well see you next time.
