Koreana had some very high reviews which make for some very high hopes. Unfortunately, those hopes were dashed fairly quickly. There were about 10 different kinds of kimchi, all of it relatively untouched as it was nothing to write home about. The wife had the stone bowl bibimbap, which she liked, but it was nothing spectacular. Meanwhile, I had the beef galbi, which was some of the worst Ive ever had. It was bland and dry in most bites. Other places tend to give it the charred taste you can get at any grill/bbq, and that taste alone, with no other flavor. So, generally, I can never find a place that makes good beef galbi. Only Chongs in my journeys so far has a delicious beef galbi full of flavor and moisture. In short, Koreana failed to impress. My top 4 Korean restaurants remains: 1) Chongs Korean, 2) Arirang Korean, 3) Kiku Garden, and 4) Ilsong Garden

Ive eaten here a few times now, while one of the better Korean restaurants food wise in San Antonio. The interior is a bit dated. Food / Flavors here are on the better side of what is offered in San Antonio. Portions here are decent, but overall I have not found any particular items that overly stand out for the price. Prices at Koreana are a bit higher than average for San Antonio, and definitely higher than most places in other cities. Customer service here is average to good. Menu selection is good as well, with almost all items found at other Korean restaurants. Sodas here are canned sodas, meals come with all your side dishes to be shared among the table, and will be refilled if asked for. Lunch prices are much more affordable than dinner. Especially if planning to eat the Bulgogi or LA Ribs.

We came to Koreana because of rave reviews. And always enjoyed coming since our first visit. However as regular customers it feels like theyve lost their quality in service and food. Today we had a late lunch. Ordered our normal galbi and it was terribly dry no flavor and tough to chew. The mandu soup was bland and shrimp fried rice was mushy. Did I mention we were the only ones there? We got zero service. I constantly had to wave the waitress down to ask for drink refills, condiments and then a take out box. Its annoying being the only ones there and all theyre doing is standing behind the counter talking to each other like your not there. I am now in search of a new place. Its not worth the dollar amount you pay for horrible food and lack of service.

Payed a visit on 3/11/16 and will never return. We were very disappointed after seeing so many glowing reviews for this place. To start with, the building smelt like old piss. It took forever to get our food which wasnt even warm by then. My guests food was bland and had human hairs in it. I received a bad case of food poisoning from mine and am still recovering. All my guest had to do was taste one bite of mine to feel a little sick that night. Im, so glad I didnt eat but half of my food. This experience has totally ruined Korean food for me, I cant even think about any of it without wanting to vomit. Very upset that I payed $25 per person only to get food poisoning. Nothing about this place was good. do not be fooled like us.

Ive been working my way through the lunch menu. So far, the chicken Bulgogi has been the best item Ive come across. The pork and beef options are OK, but the chicken is really, REALLY good. Ive found the kimchi fried rice to just be mediocre. It wasnt much better than the version I made at home as a total amateur, and they have nothing on Chongs Korean Kimchi Fried Rice. I love the yakimandu and kimbap. Their japchae was yummy yummy yummy, and Im making myself hungry. Its close to my office and tasty, and I keep going back. I recommend it for anyone on that side of town, but if youre anywhere near the Sea World area, stick with Chongs.

Substandard food, nothing major to write home about. Ive been here 30+ times (on business luncheons) and have NEVER been satisfied. I recently ordered doenjang jigae (soybean paste soup) and it was HORRIBLE, so were the additional side dishes. When I complained to the waitress, she offered to make the jigae again but I didnt want to wait any longer. When I complained AGAIN to another person, the lady tried to convince me that jigae is usually as salty as I had complained about. Little did she know I actually LIVED in South Korea for over 9 years!! I had this dish THOUSANDS of times!! I NEVER HAD A DISH THIS NASTY!

Korean food is such a treat! At Koreana, they treat you like family and bring out superb food to boot. The bbq is a good place to start if its your first time. The buglogi meat is flavorful with a sweet, interesting taste. And the kimchi pancake is a must!!! Idk what they do to it, but I end up grabbing up and gobbling down all the pieces quickly before others devour it first. Yum. Near fort Sam, this is a good place for a leisurely lunch or dinner. My mom and grandma, both whom are not adventurous eaters, loved it. They couldnt stop talking about how blown away by the food they were. Give it a try!

We ordered seafood dish and the seafood was not fresh that the soup was sour and couldnt finish the food. We told the waitress and she offered the new dish for us, when she entered to kitchen to talk to chef, the chef started yelling so we can hear her and the chef talked bad and crap about us (customer). Unfortunately, we heard everything the chef said about us. It was not worth to stay there so we paid the full bill and left. They obviously dont care and talk about customers behind their back. Would never go back and the food is not fresh or clean. The place is filthy. Ruined our dinner.

Im here on 22 Oct 16 1:35pm, waiting to be helped. Several workers have come out the side door and see me standing there waiting. No greeting, no "Ill be with you in a moment ". I take a seat at the counter and continue to wait for service and my to go order. A few minutes go by. Finally, Im acknowledged. My food was sitting waiting behind the counter and register ready go to so thats a plus. Havent tasted the food yet and place is somewhat run down, so as of now the rating stands. My coworkers seem to like it so I thought Id give it a try.

Very rude! We ordered over the phone and my husband picked it up when he went to just sign the ticket and didnt even see the tip line (which in my opinion you dont need to give a tip if you were not dining in and requiring service) the woman was visibly upset huffing and puffing so my husband took it back and gave her a $10 tip. Now Im sitting here the next day trying to keep anything down even a sip of water! So I guess I gave this woman a tip for giving me food poisoning. Needless to say I will never be eating from this place ever again.
