For a good portion of my life, Ive been a Bean customer. I was born in 79, I think the bean was founded in 77 or 78, so were close to the same age. My grandparents frequented the establishment with such frequency that my grandfather was known as Mr. Beringer, for his drink of choice, Beringer White Zinfandel, which would be on the table shortly after he walked in, without him even needing to order it. Even after my grandmother passed, it was a weekly establishment that I, my parents or my family all joined my grandfather there for lunch. Rene, one of the fine staff, was a favorite of my grandfather and my family. In fact, after he passed she was the agent we chose to represent his estate (shes a great realtor). Forgive my ramblings, I think that what I am trying to express is that, given the chance, The String Bean will endear itself to you as it has to four generations of my family. My eight year old daughter has an affinity for The String Bean and you will too. It may seem trivial to attach emotions and feelings to a restaurant, but The String Been, you will find, is more than just an eatery; it is a family restaurant and when youre there - your family.

Stopped here after reading online reviews. Was very pleased with the location and the building. Saw bunch of senior people coming so got all excited. When we stepped inside it also looked great. We were sitted in some corner between restrooms, kitchen and bar that was very uncomfortable. Also some pipe above was covered with water condensat and I had some kind of rain all the time. Everybody online said "try pot roast" so I did. Food did not arrive fast so we had time to look around and say hello to all waiters working in that room as their serving station and register are located exactly where we were sitting. Stupid table location! Well my pot roast with mushrooms had no flavor. It was so blah that I simply couldnt it it. I had to tell to our waitress that I was not feeling well and want to take food home. My dogs were happy!

I come here with my sister & her brood, in large part because of the family oriented set up with a nice kids play area, home cooked comfort food, and great sports bar for me & the bro-in-law. First time here, the wife surprised me by ordering chicken fried steak (she isnt a beef eater) but turned out she thought it was chicken. Apparently, CFS isnt often offered on menus is Northern California, where shes from. It wasnt bad. She switched to the chicken and dumplings and was quite happy. Despite the name, this is a place you can get away with mac & cheese as your vegetable, apple cobbler or banana pudding as your fruit, and no one is counting carbs. Its open all day 11-11, which works out well for a good fast food alternative between the hours of 3-5 when most restaurants are closed for siesta.

I love this place. It has become my go-to restaurant whenever I am craving some comfort food restaurant nearby. The staff is friendly and fun. I am a vegetarian and although they do not have many vegetarian options, what they have is yummy and great. I can not say the same for many of the restaurants I have been to. You have to try their sweet potato casserole. Its one of the best. The ambience of the restaurant is calm and peaceful. In short I like eating there and will continue to go there often. I would suggest everyone to try this place and you will fall in love with it too.

The food itself is great enough to go back. The atmosphere is great enough to make us go back. BUT the reason that we will rave about the String Bean and go back again and again is because of our waitress, Rene. Everything about this restaurant was perfect! I had the chicken fried steak and it was excellent. My husband had a healthy tilapia meal and it was excellent! Family atmosphere, not too loud, not too quiet. And the staff was like family. It doesnt get any better than this!

The String Bean has been a favorite since way back when they were on Spring Valley. Great food and we always loved that we could have some adult time while our little girls played in the play area. We moved away 20 years ago, but when ever we visit the area we always have a meal at the String Bean. GREAT FOOD - Chicken Fried Steak, Meatloaf, Summer Squash, Beer Battered Shrimp are a few of our long time favorites. Best Sweet Potato Casserole ever!

I had heard about the string bean restaurant for years but never made it down to try it. Now that they moved near my office, we do their catering service from time to time and its the best in Richardson. If you like home cooking food and a nice, clean and comfortable place, check it out. My only minor complaint is that they dont have apple cobbler (their best in my opinion) every night of the week! Great catering, great restaurant, check it out.

My family had been eating at The String Bean for decades. I came with my grandmother all the time. It was her first choice whenever I asked her where she wanted to go. Now, I eat there with my mom and son. We love it. Home cooking comfort food with family-friendly service and amazing desserts! Our favorites are the corned beef & cabbage, meatloaf, collard greens, pot roast, chicken & dumplings, coconut cream pie, and bread pudding. Delicious!!

Weve been coming here for years and the new location looks great. A big, spacious bar that greets you when you walk in, the brunch set up on weekends, the coconut cream pie, its just a great place and the prices are reasonable. This really is a Dallas landmark and Im glad they are back in Richardson. No complaints, although there is usually a wait at lunch for a table, so maybe consider sitting in Rons Room or at a bar table.

not a bad restaraunt! they are great at accommodating large groups and have a kids area for the little ones to play and read while waiting. (definitely under age 10 as they are childrens books and pretend kitchens along with magnets.) I was not impressed by the chicken fried steak nor the prices (a bit high for the same thing you can get at a diner like IHOP) however the staff was great and they have god drink specials!

Big improvement over the old location. Im so glad they moved up to Coit and Campbell in the edge of Richardson. Best modification from the old place is the spacious new bar and grill area they have added, which the old place was lacking. They also handle catering for us every Thanksgiving so I might be a little biased, verry nice people and my family loves the new restaurant.

All their food is so fresh and tastes home made l have a hard time choosing what Im going to eat when I go there. They have new specials daily. They have generous portions of food and most of the time I end up taking home leftovers. Their wait staff is fast and friendly and they will check on you several times and will gladly give you recommendations on menu items.

This place has excellent food, great drinks. Rich desserts. Oh my waistline. We dine here often and find the staff to be happy fun and hard working. Service is great even when the place is full. Debbie the owner actually works here and it shows. No bad attitudes, just good service from down to earth people. Did I mention they have great food and drinks yet.
