We decided to give the Studio Movie Grill a try for a date night, we read the reviews, some were good some were bad so we decided to give it a try anyway. It had been awhile since we had a date night and thought this would be perfect for us, dinner and a movie all in the same place, brilliant! This place was far from perfect. We had gone online to see if we needed to reserve tickets so the movie wouldnt be sold out, the location stated all locations were available for the movie of our choosing so we just waited until we got there to purchase tickets. We arrived at the Arlington location and proceeded to the box office to get our movie tickets, the rude teenager proceeded to tell us the 8:00 and 9:15 show times were sold out. We got tickets for the 10:35 showing and had to wait 2 1/2 hours to view our movie. We were going to eat at the Studio Movie Grill, viewing the menu online the food didnt seem too bad we decided to eat elsewhere while we were waiting for our movie and I am so glad we did! The food looked horrible, a greasy mess and it looked as if it were days old. People were spitting out their food even and complaining the popcorn was stale. It was about time for our movie to begin, we headed to the theater 30 minutes before and little did we know, seats werent on a first come first serve basis, you had to reserve the good seats and theyre were only about 10 real good seats. We came out for a date night to get away from the kids, not here! There were so many kids (around 7 years old all the way to teens) which was surprising b/c this was a rated "R" movie. They were all rude and LOUD crunching their food loud, opening their food bags right in the middle of the movie, laughing, talking throughout the movie, talking on their cell phones, cell phones were ringing, we had kids behind us commentating the whole movie "where she goin" "oooh she betta not do that!" "Oh hell naw!!!!" It was awful, we couldnt even hear half the movie b/c of people talking. We had ordered two margaritas at $10 each and they were awful! There was absolutely no alcohol in them whatsoever, and I dont drink often so I would be able to taste it, they tasted like an orange juice mixture and sugar. This place is far from a "great place" and "awesome atmosphere and food" I will never come back to this place again, Ive tried talking to someone to leave feedback so they could try to fix the problems and bring more people in, they could care less. So here I am writing a review warning mature couples in search of a nice date night to not come here, we are a young married couple (20s) not old farts, I expected much better from a place like this and its a shame it was a disappointment, I really wanted to like this place.

After trying to reach them for almost three months, I decided to finally leave a negative review. I will soon file a complaint with the BBB. I dont go to the movies often, it is a treat if I do get the time to go. So finally, me and my husband went to see Star Wars, on its first day. So, when the movie opens, a server comes by and takes all of our orders. I ordered for three people (my mother-in-law was there too) and the server takes my order on this phone thing and swipes my card right there. So, fast forwarding, we had been there a while, at least halfway through the movie, no food. Finally a server comes down to respond to the little button thing I pushed and wants to take our order. I tell them I already ordered. They said they cannot find it, so I order again, they tell me they will give me an appetizer for free (so I got the cheese dip) and they said they would have it out. Finally, the food arrives and we all begin to eat, we are in the last thirty minutes of the movie, maybe less by now, and every few minutes, during climatic scenes, the server keeps coming back and asking for my debit card. I tell her I have already paid, she keeps coming back, I tell her just a minute, just wait and I will explain what is going on, she continues to come back and persist in bothering us, even down to the final fight in the movie before I slam my hand on the table and tell her to leave me alone for a minute. So at the end of the movie, I go out to talk to the manager, and I explain the whole situation, including the server and how she basically ruined my movie experience. If I keep getting interrupted, it is hard for me to get into the movie at that point. So he assures me that my card was not charged and so I ended up paying again, as well as paying for my free cheese dip. He tells me my card should not have been charged twice, but if it was to contact him. I have called several times, tonight included and left messages and no one has contacted me back from the facility. I ended up paying almost sixty dollars for a meal that was supposed to originally be in the high twenties, had my movie experience destroyed and then ignored. Nice. I want my money back. Or I want a stack of free movie passes, even though I never have time to actually go to the movies, just because of sheer principal. I dont care if I have to go to the bank and get statements to prove I was charged twice, if thats what it takes, again, its the principal of the matter to me and I really dont want to go back there to begin with. The best part of my night? Sitting in the massage chairs next door at Conns. I recommend them in fact. I would leave zero stars if I could.

I recently helped a local filmmaker host a screening & charity event for a really great indie movie and the staff at Studio Movie Grill treated her and her staff (that includes me) terrible and they were not prepared for this event at all. First off, their digital projector is not cinema quality (I saw their projector and it looked like something you could get for 1000.00 at Best Buy) and they didnt tell her that their blue ray player was not set up to play hi def and even worse, after she got her own projector and blue ray player, she found out the hard way that her sound would not be 5 channel surround, but lousy two channel sound like you get from a 20 year old tv because they would not cable the temp equipment into their sound system or hook their blue ray player up to play hi def. I felt so bad for her as this should have been a really great night for her, (her movie is really good) but instead she had to put up with all the deciept and disrespect of the staff. No one ever aplogized to her for any of the mistakes or misinformation or did anything to help make it better. In fact, the management just slinked away and left her to deal with it as best as she could on her own. They completely ruined the night for her. So sad...=-( And she also had her wallet stolen- so I will second Chucks review on that. While she was busy hosting this event for 200+ people, someone took her wallet out of her purse (clever, dont you think) and went right up the street and started shopping. And, like Chuck, we cant say it was an employee, but I wouldnt take the chance. If I ever (and I sincerely hope I dont) have to go there again, Ill take cash and leave my credit cards at home!!!!
