Been eating here since they opened about 25 years ago. Went in today with an elderly friend, and there seemed to be new management. The place was clean for a change. Well, thatss about all that was good about it. I had to repeat myself many times to each person who worked there. They pretended or just didnt speak English. The busboy was asked to bring limes or lemons for my tea several times, as was the waiter. When I ordered I specifically said do not add soy sauce or salt to the dish. I was questioned several times by the waiter. He also did not seem to know about the house salad either, which my friend had ordered. i suggested he might try reading the menu and familiarizing himself with it (as I had done when I waited tables or checked out groceries or any one of a dozen jobs I have had in my life.). Again, he was confused. Well, Im not sure how much was genuine confusion or just pretense. At any rate, after a considerable wait, our food was finally brought, and I must say, the salad my friend ordered looked pretty sad. The dressing was even worse. It looked like water. i got a spoon and tasted it, and I found that was watered down vinegar and sugar. Why kind of dressing was this? And BTW, the waiter kept calling it sauce. Mine was just about as bad. It was so darned salty I just could not eat it. The only thing I ate was the soup, and a glass of tea, for which I had to loudly ask for the lemons I had requested 4 times. The neighbors next to us with whom i had struck up a conversation also said the salad looked disgusting and suggested to my friend that she not even bother with eating it. I mentioned this to the waiter and he wanted to argue with me about the quality of our food, again, alternating with looking confused and repeating like a parrot everything we said, and then finally saying well everyones taste is different. When I had said no salt or soy sauce on my dish, and it was inedibly salty, and now he was telling me that I had finicky taste buds? I was incensed, and saw a young Anglo man in the bar area. I ask him to explain how it is not a matter of my taste buds but a matter of the food been ill prepared, he said I had to speak with the woman who now owned it. So I did address her, and she did the same thing, pretending first she did not understand me or hear me, and then said it was a matter of taste. i asked her to sample the dfood and she said she did not eat after her customers. I told her that I had served from the platter onto my plate. she could sample the food on the platter, which she refused to do. She continued to ring out the meal and I said I was not going to pay for that. i crosssed out the salad, and she then retallied the meal, expecing me to pay 85% of it. When i said that neither of us could eat the food, and the only thing I had eaten was a glass of tea and the cup of soup and that was all I was paying for, she re-tallied it to $18.00 plus tax and tip. I was, by this time, furious at this complete lack of customer service and this idea that I was somehow a bad person because I did not like her food. She stated that people just have different tastes, to which I said I requested that no soy sauce or additonal salt be added, that it was so salty it could not be eaten. It was not me being difficult it was truly inedible food. I had this issue with this cook previously. let me tell you, had this been a native Texan, the person would have gone to the kitchen and tasted what was being served and offered a compensation beyond deducting 15% for a meal. Because she is hiding behind the idea that this is not her native country, when she is probably as American as you or I, is also disingenuous. Then she said, when she finally looked at the ticket where it said no salt or soy sauce, that it all comes from a can!! Well, so much for Chinese or Vietnamese food being freshly prepared! So she buys a product that is too salty, probably to cover up the flavor of the fish and shrimp going bad. dont waste your time or money here. We will be exploring the many other oriental food places.

Im giving this a star because it used to be my fav but for some reason they decided to garnish the food with cilantro. Never before had we EVER experienced this but tonight when I picked up my take out there it was...a Mexican garnish on an Asian dish. Why is this a big deal? Because I am deathly allergic to cilantro, to point of simply smelling causes a severe reaction . So heres what happened... I called to complain and they argue that they always garnish their food with cilantro, to which I replied in the 3 years Ive been eating there the food has NEVER had cilantro on ANY of the dishes, so he tells me they will remake the order, this is great since I spend at least $50 everytime I go. SO I get in my car, drive 10 miles get there and he tells me I need to bring my order to him and theyll remake it. You think he would have told me that over the phone... SO I have my husband dig it out of the trash while I drive another 10 miles back home and since I am now having problems breathing and cant drive with it in the car my husband drives yet another 10 miles back to the restaurant. My husband is now told that because we threw it away and it looked like some was missing they would not remake our order and on top of that wouldnt reimburse us for that meal even though they kept the food. You would think they might care that they couldve have hospitalized or even killed one of their best customers, no . Instead they argue with me that the cilantro placed on top of the food doesnt affect it and that it wont kill me, make us pay them $47.58 for food no one got to eat and couldnt even be so nice as to throw in a fortune cookie for the 60 miles we drove for NOTHING!

I normally love the Vietnamese, and the Chinese is OK from here. My family has been frequenting this place in one form or another for around twenty years. There have been times that they are spot on, and times they have missed the mark. Most of the time, (other than the tea) they are a good place to eat. But recently I find myself defending the service and the food to friends and co-workers alike; after recommending China Kitchen to them. I recently had an instance that a dish (out of five purchased) on the ticket was not palatable. My wife and I took the food back and asked that they allow us to select something else from the menu to make up for the unsavory entre. The manager promptly asked as to the reason for returning the food. Upon hearing the answer stated that”if everyone who had a problem with the food, brought the food back with the expectation of something in return. They could not stay in business”. Immediately I was alarmed and asked if this was a recurring theme with my Wife or the customers in general. The Manager merely restated the aforementioned line about the fact that if they gave out free food they could not stay in business. I was told that ‘I should keep my voice down” and that “I only want to not pay for my food”. In essence she called me a free loader. I have never returned a meal in all of the meals eaten there. I feel that this was uncalled for and will not eat at this establishment again. Buyer Be Warned just want to post this to let those interested no what they are getting into. There is no refund on the tea or the unpalatable entre.
