What To Order: Bò Lúc Lắc, Wonton with Pork Rib Meat, Pork Vermicelli This place has some amazing Vietnamese dishes. (See Rant Later) The Bò Lúc Lắc, pronounced "Bow Luck Lack" or Shaking Beef is absolutely amazing. Its seared beef medallions cooked in a sweet soy sauce along with onions and garlic. Served on top of a bed of salad with cucumbers, & red onion. A small bowl of salt, pepper and lemon is given to further season the meat and salad to taste. I have yet to find this dish prepared better anywhere else. A-Dongs Wonton Soup is absolutely amazing as well. The large order comes served with rib meat strips, and cabage leafs in it. The flavor of this wonton blows away any wonton Ive had elsewhere. When its cold out, or Im sick, I will call in to order a large bowl to go. The large is easily enough to feed 2-3 people as an appetizer. Youd never imagine wonton soup could be this good. I have no idea what the secret is. Then theres the Vermicelli noodle dish with grilled pork and fried spring roll on top. This item comes with a bowl of sauce, containing fish sauce, carrots, and other spices. I would caution ordering this item, as its definitely going to be a love it or hate it on the sauce. Without the sauce the dish is just a bit bland. I highly recommend this place to anyone wanting to broaden their food experiences. Its a great place for authentic Vietnamese food, & fresh vegetable dishes. Ive tried about a half dozen items on the menu and all were good, but the ones mentioned above stand out above the rest.. The Rant.. Too many people go to Vietnamese restaurants and see Chinese food on the menu. They are not the same. Dont complain when your burger from the italian restaurant isnt fantastic. People ask, why do they have Chinese food on the menu then? The same reason chicken nuggets are on the menu for kids at most places. Because people/kids are picky eaters and wont try new things. If you come here, it should be to try something new, or eat Vietnamese food that you already know and love. As far as the service issues others have expressed, I myself have had good service, only having mediocre service once or twice ever. I normally dine here later in the evening, after 7pm.

When I go to a Vietnamese restaurant I focus on pho no matter how delicious other entrees might be. That said, strictly talking about the beef pho: Ive had many types of pho around San Antonio and I found this specific pho to be on the lemongrass and sweet side. The anise flavor is there as an after taste. I could barely taste the cinnamon. I couldnt taste or smell the optional cloves or coriander seeds. The roasted onion and ginger was a little more prominent. The savoriness of the fish sauce did hit you first though. The sugar and salt ratios werent too bad but not to my taste. I found the broth to not be filtered to be clear of bone marrow debris and of the usual brown consistency - instead it looked a little yellow mustard side. The actual fatty savoriness of the bone marrow seemed to be ... I cant exactly describe it but, as if it had lost its potency like when you re-heat a strew or soup too many times. For the first time in eating pho I used lemon to mask another taste. That said, its not a bad pho I just would never have it again. I would venture into other parts of the menu instead. For example, I was fairly surprised by the mint wrapped inside their spring rolls and the amazing peanut and chili dipping sauces. The mint, the sweet basil, and even the mung bean sprouts were incredibly home grown fresh. The Vietnamese cold coffee was excellent as well. It had the rich strength of sweet cold pressed coffee proportioned with the right amount of condensed milk. At first I didnt think the sweetness would be enough but I was mistaken - just stir vigorously. Also, I should mention my mother loved hers without a single complaint. My younger brother wasnt too persuaded by their lemon grass chicken on the other hand. Still, this restaurant is worth a another try.

First of all, the food is good. We should have just done take out though. A party of 3 and we only get 2 things of silverware, 3rd person must have been expected to eat with their hands or share. We had to ask for another set. I see other people with a small child and they give them their soup in a Styrofoam container instead of ceramic. I guess I should have asked for a Styrofoam container. Not once did the staff come to check to make sure we were ok or needed a refill.... wait, I take that back, she came at the end to ASK if we wanted a box... she never returned and we would have been forced to put the food in my purse if we didnt get up and get a container on our own. So, if you like good food but also like being ignored, this is your place.

Ive been to this place a few times. The food is pretty good but the service is awful most of the time. My drink glass was empty well over 15 minutes and was never acknowledged nor was I. The staff seems put out that we are even there. They took my plate away and vanished like ninjas before I could ask for a refill. When it came time to pay the bill I left no tip as this has been a time too many for bad service. You want a good tip? Remove the sour attitude, be polite, and actually WORK for the tip you want. Check on your customers periodically. Ask if everything is ok. Ask if they would like a refill.

First time customer. We entered from the side & took a seat. It was a long wait to be recognized. Only after going to front counter & making our presence known, the staff sprang into action with the Menu, beverages, & taking our order. The service was excellent. Everything went very smoothly. Our food was good but not great. One can certainly eat a healthy meal here. Since the day/lunch period had just begun, the Restrooms could have been immaculately clean. Paper towels containers in both rooms were filled to compacity.

The food tasted like it was cooked with old oil, had a strange smell to it, and tasted very bad. The service was subpar, with the waiters acting like you were wasting their time, and constantly reached across your plate while eating...not professional at all. The cashier even rolled his eyes when I came to the from to pay, really?!? For parents with a small child, the restrooms do not have changing tables or enough space on the counter for a diaper change. Would definitely NOT recommend for Vietnamese or Chinese dining!

The only reason I am giving this place a 1 star is because I have to to write a review. We ate there on 3/8 and within 24 hours my husband was sicker than a dog with food poisoning. When we came in we were seated and only saw our server once when she brought our drinks and took our food order. When we went to pay, the hostess rolled her eyes at us like we were an inconvenience to her day. We will most certainly not be back EVER! Would not recommend this place for soda.
