My friend and I decided to give this place a try. We got there at 8 20pm and there was a line outside. I thought this place must be good if there is still a line so late at night. We waited about 30 mins. to get seated, and the place looked empty. The host mentioned because they do not have enough servers they cant sit people down. I did enjoy the guacamole ( It was really good) and the sweet tea isnt bad at all. But, the sour cream chicken enchiladas were not very good. There wasnt enough rice and beans, and the taste was mediocre. There was four people, 2 adults and 2 kids, and we had a $50 bill. I could go to Cristinas, get twice the food and quality, and still pay the same. As my friend stated," hey we tried it, now we know."

The food is really good, but we had a really large group with only one server. They never took my drink order (my uncle flagged someone down, but they never brought it), they never took my food order (my uncle again gave it to someone, and it did come), and my aunt had to wait, no joke, almost and hour for her second Corona. We got there around 6:30, but we didnt get our food till after 7:30, and Im talking well after 7:30, probably closer to 8. The only reason Im giving 3 stars and not lower is because, again, the food was good. Plus, Ive been here before and had great service. I dont know what was going on Sat night.

I had my first margarita at El Fenix in downtown Dallas in the late 70s and was looking forward to dining at another El Fenix. The margarita was okay, but the rest of the food was only average. The only good part of my #7 lunch special was the sour cream chicken enchilada. The first clue about the quality of the food came when the food arrived within five minutes of placing the order- how good could it be? The salsa is something that I loved in the past, but this batch did nothing for me. I cannot see myself returning to El Fenix anytime soon since there are so many delicious Mexican restaurants in the north Texas.

El Fenix family were friends of my Mom and Dad. Their place was The Mexican restaurant when I was growing up. Their recipes havent changed and they were very close to my Grandmother Garcias food. My Parents never paid when they went there to celebrate their anniversary. They married in 1950. My daughter knows El Fenix as the best Mexican restaurant ever. The service was wonderful today just like it has always been even though I understand the Martinez family no longer owns the stores.

Let me start by saying this place is amazing in so many ways. We had a wedding reception of 20+ and our waitress was wonderful and professional. When get our food, we got ALL the plates at the same time. Quite a feat. Everything was hot and delicious. The El Fenix way.. We stayed past closing and management was courteous through and through. I cant say enough about them. Thank you for going above and beyond in making this joyous occasion that much more memorable.

Ive been eating at this restaurant since it opened here, and at El Fenix for over 30 years, but my lunch visit this week to the Lewisville location was the worst. Food was still great, waiter was great, but the manager? at that time (who also seated us) was the rudest person Ive ever encountered there. I have never been treated so poorly at any El Fenix until Monday. Maybe the older lady was having a bad day, but if not, she has no business dealing with the public.

Food was decent, service was ok. But I paid and they overcharged my account by $0.98, not that I didnt have the money but the principle cause I copied it to my own receipt. Called them and they told me I didnt know how to count. Terrible management period! Dont sit there and tell anyone they are stupid pretty much. ILL NEVER EVER EAT FROM THIS STEALING ESTABLISHMENT AGAIN!

If you like Microwaved cheese on your nachos then THIS IS THE PLACE FOR YOU! Mediocre service? THEYVE GOT IT! Awkward wait staff THEYVE GOT IT! Rude hostesses? THEYVE GOT THAT TOO! Remember if you like terrible food and service this is indeed the best Mexican restaurant around!

Our visit was very good. The food was just the way we like it. The managers always try there best to meet and greet their customers and treat them like family. My family and I will continue to come to a great restaurant like El Fenix. Take care and God bless.

Wait was 30 minutes on a Wednesday night. Took the waitress 10 minutes to great us, didnt have silverware on table,15 minutes to get chips and salsa. Food was ok, not the best. Only reason Im giving it 2 stars is because our waitress was awesome.

Ive been eating here for years. Great waiters and waitresses and excellent staff. My favorite night is enchilada night ... enchiladas are like 4.99 (half price). Maria is my favorite waitress, she is like family now!!!

Food was very bland. Queso tasted like canned queso you get from Wal-Mart. I would not recommend this place to anyone, especially when there are several great mexican food restaurants in the same area.
