Visiting from Texas for a conference, my wife and I wanted to experience a Celtics game. After unsuccessfully being able to buy Tix on StubHub, we walked in and asked the bouncer if he knew anyone selling ligit tickets for the game. He called someone over that he felt confident had the tickets that we wanted. After some negotiating... I purchased 2 Tix for a hundred bucks at halftime. Well, the tickets were bogus. With our tails between our legs, we walked back to the Harp bar to watch the 2nd half of the game. Our story got back to the Bouncer who had left for the evening. He returned 45 mins later and handed me my $100 bucks! He wouldnt say no to my not taking the money. I tried to tip him back a portion of the cash... his response was no sir! (Thats a Texas response or so I thought) I took back the Hundred and I told him I would only take back the money if he could get it back from the rotten dog that screwed us. He assured me he would. My Texas wife and I partied with the patrons of the bar and the fans who came in after the game! Only in a Texas bar would we feel so much warmth....We had so much fun! I highly recommend the Harp bar to everyone that wants to experience a place where you can have a great time! Use our story as a conversation piece as we want this to go viral! By the way... Were from Houston and are very happy that the Patriots won the Superbowl! Thank you Everyone from the Harp Bar across the street from the Garden! Jeff and Rene! Hook em! PS... We did top the Bouncer $40 bucks when we left by way of the bartenders and told management about our incident and the promised to take care of him.... Just sayin!

If you like a comfortable, relaxing atmosphere to share a few pints with friends - the Harp is your kind of place. The owner, a native Dubliner, has created an unpretentious establishment where everyone can feel welcome. Come in a suit after a long day at the office or come in shorts and flip-flops with a funny hat. It doesnt matter. Chill out and enjoy your favorite libation. On warm, sunny days enjoy the expansive deck and soak up some rays. On rainy days, come under the canopy and listen to the downpour. On the deck, Brian cooks the most delicious steaks, ribs & pork chops every Monday & Thursday. (Very reasonably priced!) I first found the Harp over a decade ago. Ive seen other trendy places come and go, but a place like the Harp just invites you back. Its like your favorite fuzzy, blue sweater. Its a little seedy, a little well worn; but always feels great when you put it on.

Had a great time playing trivia. Im not sure what level of authenticity every other reviewer was looking for. Leprechauns? Pot of gold? The decor was a bit worn, but still had the vibe. Overall its a homey and comfortable atmosphere, and the staff was attentive and cheerful. Those complaining about the prices should consider traveling to a major metropolitan city like L.A. or NYC to understand what expensive is. I was pleasantly surprised when I drank my fill and the bill was under $25. Ill definitely return on my next visit to Houston.

Neighborhood Irish Pub about sums it up. But the reason I write this review is to give a few tips to those who may not have been here. First, they do not have food, save for some chips sold behind the bar, BUT you can go to the nearby HEB on Dunlavy and bring snacks to The Harp. Also, one night a week is steak night (I think its Tuesday). There is a neighborhood golden retriever who comes around on steak night looking for treats. All in all, it really is a neighborhood bar, causal, relaxed, and unpretentious. Full bar available.

This is no Bennigans-like chain. This is a REAL Irish pub owned by a REAL Irishman from the Donnybrook section of Dublin. Great dart room and a comfortable lounge, but I like to just sit at the bar and shoot the breeze with the bartenders, who are always good for a few stories and a lot of laughs. The regulars are a kick too, arguing baseball and music, etc. The last couple times I was there we ended up sitting outside on their new deck and awnings. Its a hell of an improvement, but I still think the real fun is on the inside.

This place is proof that the standard of an "Irish pub" in Houston is extremely low. Do they sell Guinness? Check. This is a completely decent average bar, unremarkable in almost every way. The service seemed nice and they have a ping pong table in the back.

Enjoyed a few beers and a steak outside. Server was nice but hard to find at times. We had several tabs open at our table and a few of us had the wrong items on our bills. Overall, its a chill bar. Would return and think its worth checking out!

An old comfy coat, Slips on easily, warms you. You will feel at home. This is truly your classic divey-pub. Old broken in chairs, friendly bartender who will remember your name if you make an effort, this is the Cheers of Richmond.

Here on St Patricks day. Place was bursting. Authentic Irish pub. Declan the Irish landlord was a true gentleman. I have a St Patricks day birthday and so he brought me a black and tan. Fresh beer, wonderful Guinness, great pub!

One of the most comfortable, easy going bars in Houston. Also, the steak night is the best! Been coming here for years and have never had a bad time. Friendly staff and great outdoor area. And ping pong!

My wife and I have gone to the Harp several times over the past month or three. We always have a good time there. It is so much nicer than the corporate bars every one seems to want nowadays.

Far from an Irish pub. Hipster / college atmosphere. The Guinness and service were good - just dont hold your breath for some Irish ambience. Pints were on the expensive side.

This bar is definetly a chill one with pride in its Irish theme. A nice place if you want to come and actually hear the people you came to talk with.

Drinks here are SO expensive. I suggest always checking for the daily special if youre drinking beer. Its always a good price on that.

They offer a great steak night on Mondays and Thursdays - $16 for ribeye or half rack of lamb & $12 for pork chops
