Im very saddened this incident happened to us as we hear about situations like this very often. My husband and I left the Houston Rodeo Cookoff and decided to continue our night out by going to a bar and a few drinks. Pubfiction? Why not. As we entered through the entrance line, one of the security guards stopped my husband and said he CANNOT enter in with timberland boots. We politely asked why? Security guard answered "because its tennis shoes". As we turned around to walk away another security guard let in a "white" guy with tennis shoes on. We walked back and asked whats the deal with allowing the other guy to walk in with tennis shoes and not my husband. He looked down and said "well you can come in as long as you tie your shoes" The dumbest thing Ive heard. Needless to say, its sucks people of color has to go through hurdles to get in a majority all white bar, when in reality we are the same status as everyone else.

Ive been I living in Houston for 6 years now and have come to learn that Pub Fiction is the most dependable bar for when youre looking to either have a really good time, or to just kick back, relax and have a few drinks. The management team is by far the best Ive ever met at running bars and restaurants. They absolutely know how to market to their audience, always having special events for anything worth having a good time for - local sports teams, St. Partys Day, Cinco de Mayo, and many others. While the crowd tends to skew towards the mid-20s, its still a perfect spot and very welcoming for any age. Ive brought my 58 year old father to Pub to have drinks one night. While he wasnt a fan of the non-stop music, he still had a great time. By the way, the food is pretty damn good for being Pub food. The owners have rounded up a fantastic menu crafted by talented local chefs.

Renovations are on point. Great place for young professionals. Big plus: Ive never experienced or witnessed mistreatment by a bouncer or a bartender, big plus compared some other popular Midtown bars. This previously stuffy, dark bar has recently been renovated with wide-open seating, concrete floors, and more modern decor and lighting. Large garage-like doors open when weather is nice to a large patio area with a friendly atmosphere. Trivia night on Tuesday is perfect for people going to have fun and arent necessarily "geeks who drink" with a plethora of obscure pop culture knowledge. I learned that this place is owned by the same people who own Third Floor (upstairs) and Irish Cowboy (down the block) and all three venues allow easy passage between them once you gain access to any of the 3-4 entrances.

WARNING! Do NOT valet your car here! I went to Pub Fiction this weekend and valeted my car. When I got it back, one of my headlights was smashed out. The valet admitted they had done it, gave me their insurance information, and assured me they would take care of everything. However, when I submitted the claim to insurance, suddenly they denied fault, claiming that someone else must have hit my car while it was parked (in their care). The conclusion is that your $7 to valet will produce one of two results: 1. The valet will drive your car recklessly enough to smash it up 2. The valet will park your car somewhere unsafe and unsupervised, so someone else can smash it up while it is in their care. DO NOT VALET YOUR CAR HERE unless you want to pay for their negligence out of pocket yourself!

pretty good, gets too crowded at times though, and they try to get you to pay for parking. Nope, just park down the street. I read the asian girls review about two down from mine. I would kinda have to agree and disagree. Im a white guy and was with 3 white guy friends and me and another guy had tennis on and he wouldnt let us in. We saw people on the patio with sandals and tennis on so we asked sarcastically, "can we wear sandals in?" he said ya. So i went and got the spare boots i had in my trunk, and my friend bought some cheap sandals from walgreens and got in. It was about 7:30-8:00 too so it didnt make sense, but whatever. I still go there every once in a while.

0 stars just because I came and sat at the bar and told the female bartender with blonde hair on Thursday February the 16 I was not sure what I wanted three times while this was my first stop at a bar at midtown. I had never even experienced midtown before tonight and she cuts me off before I even order a drink, I asked her why I was cut off. She said because of TABC laws she didnt have to tell me why I was cut off, I guess she doesnt know Im a bartender as well and I know that reason is invalid. Thanks for ruining my first night out in midtown lady, I was looking forward to visiting your pub. I will never be back.

Ive only come here for drinks, never food. Pretty cool place. It has something for everyone. You can dance by the stage or chill on one of the patios. They also have some good live music from time to time. Halloween at this place was really fun this year. Everyone was good about dressing up. The place was packed and it spilled out into the parking lot too. They also allowed to walk through a hallway outside if you wanted to go to the bar next door. I believe both places have the same ownership. This kept you from having to wait in line to check IDs if you wanted to go the other place.

I have read a lot of good reviews on this place so maybe we caught them on a bad night. Our waitress was terrible. We constantly had to go to the bar to get a beer because we would not see her for 20+ minutes at a time. The food was cold (probably because our waitress let it sit in the kitchen). On of the girls at our table went to the bar and asked a different waitress if she knew where ours was and she rudely brushed her off. Again, maybe we caught them on a bad night but I definitely will not be going back to this place.

Came out for SuperBowl weekend. Save your money. First off $8 for a draft beer served in a small plastic cup. I know its a special weekend, but come on. Then the kitchen was closed, food options were either a burger or two tacos. Two of the sorriest excuses for tacos Ive ever seen. For $7...buy a food ticket at the bar, walk out to patio only to realize your mistake... Talk about ripping off your customers. Been here several times before which were all ok experiences, but this time just wipes the slate.

My friends and I have dropped by Pub Fiction a couple of times after work. The atmosphere is pretty good, the drink specials are pretty decent, but the greatest thing about this place is the food. Yeah, I didnt expect it either but holy @#$!. Ive had their hamburger (Royale with cheese), their New York strip, the Club, and more. Everything Ive had here has been fantastic. If youre looking for a place to grab some food after work and chill with coworkers and friends, definitely check out Pub Fiction.
