Honestly this restaurant is not about table service and a relaxed evening date. Hunan Emporor is a fantastic takeout/delivery americanized Chinese place. If you eat inside, it WILL be empty. You also need to know what to get. The soups, egg rolls, and the classic and infamous Po Po Platter are all fantastic. Most of the appetizers can be eaten by one person as an entree. Its not rediculous, its delicious. Any chicken dish is good but especially the General Tso Chicken, Orange Chicken, or Chicken and Vegetables. Try the Hunan Beef special for something tender and flavorful. The fried rice is good, but even better if specifically asked for with pork. The veggies are steamed well and can be made without the dishes specific sauce if requested. Last, be sure to get one of their fruit ices for dessert. The mango dessert is actually an entire mango scooped out, blended and placed back into the skin to serve, then frozen. Its creamy and suprizingly healthy. If you order take out its ready in half an hour, deliver is 1 hour no more no less.

The bed of lettuce that the dumplings and shrimp rolls were on was ROTTEN!! Not just brown, but BLACK and rotting. The egg rolls were the frozen kind you get from Sams. We threw all of the food out. When I called and spoke with manager he could not have cared less. He told me to just get my money back and dont worry about the fact they are serving rancid food to customers. I started going to this place 20 years ago when they were still on Memorial next to the Rice Epicurean. There is no way the same people own this place.

If I could give them 0 stars I would I ordered the sweet and sour chicken and general tos ..... And egg rolls 1. The sweet and sour chicken was cold and nasty the vegetables were RAW just the whole plate was nasty in entirety 2. Jack n the box egg rolls best theirs anyway and thats sad 3. So I go to the General tos Im like ok this looks good WRONG disgusting as well And to top it off they have horrible customer service .....

My family and my church group have been eating at the Hunan Emeror for many years, both at the previous Memorial address, and since they have moved to Westheimer. We especially like the Sunday buffet. It is very clean, has thick white table cloths and cloth napkins. The servers are very polite and friendly. This is a great restaurant for a nice dinner out and for families. Prices are moderate.

Never ordering here again. First of all, I spoke with 3 different people to place my order. Second, the food was horrible. Lo mein was mooshy and over cooked and it tasted so below average. My coworkers meal was soggy and saturated in oils. Id give this place a 0 if possible. I ended up throwing out my lunch without eating much and mad that I wanted my money mad lunch break.

I was disappointed. I placed a to go order, and while staff was friendly and the order was filled quickly, the meal overall was disappointing. The lo mein and Kung Pao beef primarily tasted salty with out other seasonings. The pan fried dumpling dough was thick and tough. I expect Americanized Chinese food, but this wasnt even that.

Located on Westheimer Road, Hunan Emperor is a quick lunch bite spot. The service was great and the food came out very fast. Affordable too, only about $6.25 for many items on the lunch menu with soup and an egg roll. As far as Chinese food goes, the food was not very tasty and thats why I didnt rate it better.

Where the bad reviews came from I don't have a clue. I have eaten at Human emperor for over 10 years and never had a bad meal, or rude staff. It is our families most favorite restaurant. They have moved to a new location and we visited them there last week and it was wonderful.

The nastiest Chinese restaurant I have EVER been to.. the food was funny tasting like it was no good. After a several bites I felt nauseous and decided not to risk it but when I called they didnt care at all! Waste of my money.. all I did was throw it all away.

Delivered on time food was hot. I got the Sezuan Chicken it was a large portion with a lot of chicken and vegetables. Flavor was very good not too spicy. Egg rolls (pork) had good flavor and not over cooked or dry. Its not gourmet but very good for the price.

I work at the fire station around the corner. Weve eaten here a few times and the food and atmosphere is nice. Came here a few times about 30 min before closing and they are never upset or mad. Always serve us with respect and kindness.

Food was not that good. I ordered online and paid a $2 delivery fee. The driver asks for gas money. What??? The restaurant charged me a delivery fee and whyare they asking for gas money. Not professional at all.

Me and my husband love the food. I always get my food warm. . On the weekend it may take a little longer but overall. Everything is great.. I recommend the special rice or chow mein noodles with shrimp. .

This is still the same great place it was on Memorial Dr. Same Menu and food. You can depend on them for consistency and price. My family has been enjoying them for many yrs and will for many more Im sure.
