visited indika for the first time today to check out their restaurant week brunch. the menu sounded promising-- especially the part about how it was an "unlimited feast." sign me up! i love indian food, so i was super excited! upon walking in, the ambiance was really nice. pretty decor with lots of gorgeous natural lighting during the lunch hour. right off the bat, we noticed how slow the service was. our dishes came out 1-3 at a time, but with huge gaps of time in between considering they were all small plates and took much less than 5 minutes to eat. we probably waited 10-15 min between each interval when they brought food out. it was frustrating too that they started off with only one at a time, so you couldnt try everything together or have naan and rice on the side as you ate the other dishes. our server apologized at least a half dozen times about the slow service. something about how the kitchen was out of bowls? and she had told us at the beginning of the meal that she would order things on our behalf, and we could just ask for seconds for the dishes we liked. for some reason though, she skipped around on the menu and it was just confusing because we didnt know what we were getting. and everything was bad. either too salty, too sour, or too spicy (even though she told us at the beginning of the meal that nothing was really spicy at all). to be honest, it was one of the worst meals my husband and i had had in years... and we actually like indian food and arent all that picky. by the end of the meal, we realized that there were still a good number of dishes she didnt order for us. i requested a couple of them and they turned out to be the better ones of the meal. still nothing i would really crave, but much more edible than a lot of the dishes we poked around at and couldnt really get ourselves to eat after trying a first bite. essentially, the only semi edible things were the potato spinach cake chaat and the coconut pancakes (even though they were super saturated in maple syrup, even though i specifically asked for the syrup on the side...). the mango lassi was also a disappointment and kinda pricey at $4 for a tiny tiny drink. and it was a lot thicker and yogurty and not as sweet as other versions ive had. finally, we ordered dessert, but they were out of the chocolate mousse, which was the only dessert item that sounded remotely good. ended up trying this chocolate chili cookie that was just extremely dry and weirdly bitter. the combination of bad service and worse food on top of $$$ price made this an epic fail. id rather spend $60+ at so many other restaurants in houston. :[

I cant believe this restaurant has been open for 14 years, and today was my first visit! The food is so savory and flavorful, it requires your entire attention to enjoy. I literally stopped talking to my friend for a good half hour and just reveled in each bite. The food at Indika is Indian with a modern twist...but, it isnt fusion. The food leans strongly towards its Indian influence and is loaded with spice. What I love though, for beginners, is the brunch. For $20pp, there is an unlimited feast of about 20 items or so. This is a great opportunity to try everything, figure out what you dont like, and order tons of what you do like. Another great thing about the brunch is that its buffet style without a buffet line. Rather than the food just sitting out on a cold line, the servers bring food out to the tables as it is prepared in the kitchen. From the brunch menu, my favorite items include the Chicken Samosas, the Spinach Potato Cake Chaat, the Pulled Pork & Fried Egg, the Fish Kofta Curry, the Coconut Pancakes, and ALL of the desserts. If you dont think those few items will fill you up, youre crazy! PLUS, the menu has a lot more. Im definitely adding Indika to my permanent brunch list!

I could go on forever about how much my family and I loved Indika, but I promise to keep it short(ish). My parents were visiting from out of town and we absolutely love Indian food. As soon as we pull up there is a valet attendant ready to open the door. Once we walked inside we were greeted and seated quickly. Indika is warm and inviting with beautiful drapery and low lighting. Our waiter was polite, made suggestions, and offered us alternatives to the dishes. He brought out complimentary potato pancakes with a delicious spread. The menu is inventive and adds their own flare to traditional Indian food. Our dishes came out promptly. All of our meals were so incredibly flavorful and fresh I was ready to order and second meal to go! Prices were reasonable considering its fresh fish, lamb, duck, etc. We were so pleased with the main course, we decided to order dessert and coffee. I had a lot of questions and our waiter was happy and eager to answer. They even gave us complimentary cardamom cookies. Its the simple touches that truly make a restaurant special. (Just look on the wall, youll see all their awards). I advise anyone with an adventurous palette to try Indika!

Ill give the food 4/5 - Kashmiri Biryani was excellent, tasted a bit of a lot of dishes was good too. Ill give the service/ waiting staff 1/5 - The attitude of the waiter didnt seem too good at the start itself, almost as if our presence was an inconvenience to him. Waiter seemed to be hurrying us up while we were ordering, then took a long time to get our food in. All entrees were served and we had to wait 5 minutes for naan to come in. Naan apparently came complimentary with the entrees, our party of 7 received 1 naan sliced into 4 pieces. We expected to be served more naan, but nothing more came. 5 minutes into eating, I specifically requested the female waitress for extra naan for the table and she took the serving plate to bring more. We saw naan come out for other tables, but none for ours. Disappointed with waiting so long, we ate what was on our plate and left. Most restaurants struggle with making good food, unfortunately, Indika seems to have another problem. An excellent chef, but unprofessional and cold serving staff with a poor attitude.

Delicious, healthy, and flavorful food. Many options to accommodate various food preferences. I went with the vegetarian combo and thought it was delicious! It was maybe a mix of too many flavors so when I go back Ill probably go with a simpler option. I also love lentils but they needed to be cooked more. My husband had the spicy chicken curry. Great flavor. If you like spicy food, which we do, then dig in! The samosas were outstanding and mild enough to feed to our twin boys. Samosas are actually the perfect option for little people. We ran into a slight problem with only one high chair but the staff were super helpful and borrowed one from a restaurant next door. I have to mention here that we LOVED the crew working at Bijous they were friendly and fun. Dining with 15 month twin boys can be challenging and they made us feel welcomed. The atmosphere and music was also a TON OF FUN! Quick, healthy, and our little guys were thoroughly entertained by the music. We will be back
