Honestly tasted like taco bell. Menu was super dirty and crusty. Im pretty sure they used the same dirty towel to clean. I was promised a 30 minute wait for 2. No big deal. Ended up being just shy of an hour. The reception was pretty dumb. Not the individuals working. But the receptionist system in place. Trying to be tech savvy but fails miserably. Input your number in the system and you will get a text when your table is ready. Text never came. They had a soft spoken person honestly whispering names. Staff looked lost. After seeing people just get there and get a table before me. I should of asked but honestly I was too lazy to get up and ask. And going to my table by manager. Some one complains to the manager saying he hasnt seen his waiter in a long time. I should of seen the red flags and left. After seeing people just get there and get a table before me. I do believe they didnt expect the place to get busy. It was a Wednesday. Place wasnt honestly packed. It was busy but there was sections with empty tables. Place is pretty big with crappy small parking spaces. So finally at the table and waiter was super nice. But she asks us for drinks. So I ask for agua de Jamaica. Looked super confused and was like we dont have it. Actually I wouldnt of asked if maybe it showed there drinks on the menu. May be it was and Im being blind as a bat. But then again that sheet was dirty AF. So I was like sweet tea it is. Ok I look to my wife. And am like dufuq you mean you dont have Jamaica at a "Mexican" restaurant. Maybe if I asked for a fruitista instead. I should of took off my heart couldnt take much more. Well, we sat next to the same individuals who were waiting next to us at the lobby. Oh yeah we were there first by the way. And I took note that they were still ordering and we placed put order. So then 5 minutes pass and they put in there order a party of 6. And they got there food way before us. I got shrimp quesodillas. And my significant other had a tostada nothing really takes forever to make. Another thing the salsa was pretty lack luster aswell. I eat it because Im fat and hungry AF. The waitress brings over a little and I mean tiny cup. I wouldnt even call it that. But of beans. I sheet you not may be 6 beans in there. My wife was happy that she wouldnt be paying for it at night. And no my whole bad experience is not because I couldnt unleash the hounds of hell. But honestly I never felt so disrespected with food before. First off "Tex MEX" I would like to believe everything thing is bigger in Texas. But nope I was slapped in the face by a small weiner. I tasted the rice and it tasted like rice-o-rone how every you spell it. Even had the color. My shrimp was over cooked and only had like 3 shrimp and whole lot of bell pepper and onions. This place really sucks grande culo. I was going to say small but that isnt true. You know a place isnt authentic mexican when you dont have the diarrhea after words. Pro: probably the worst mexican restaurant I have ever had. Weird old guy driving around in a golf cart with his dog. Water was free Sweet tea was good. Has a fish tank Worlds baddest silverware Great place to be if you hate time Some what higher then taco bell Rice-oroni Cons: tiny portion size No authenticity to this place Staff confusion Waiters are hit and miss. Dirty place. Bent AF silverware spoon looked flat. Idk how thats possble. Food is bland No real Mexican drinks -Horchatta -Jamaica I highly recommend not eating here but if you do first and foremost may God have mercy on your soul. But bring hand sanitizer and gloves. Maybe your own silver ware. I dont know how this has a high rating this place is culo juice.

As a regular we love having dinner at El Chaparral, Helotes, TX but your breakfast quality and service is poor and not ready for prime time. Your Barbacoa tacos did not contain freshly made barbacoa but instead the meat appeared and had the aroma of having been frozen barbacoa that was microwaved (not steamed) and then served on a tortilla saturated with melted lard from the previously frozen barbacoa. I did not eat the taco. The Machacado con Huevo tacos contained eggs that were overcooked (toasted and crispy). Not at all appealing. I asked the waiter to remove the tacos from the table and take them off my check. Regarding the kitchen and wait staff service, Once our order was placed, it took the kitchen 25 untimely minutes to prepare the food and have it served on our table. We observed other tables around the restaurant with people experiencing and complaining about the same untimely service of food from the kitchen. The waiter named Randal (aka Trey) was unfocused, inattentive and had a poor sense of urgency. Trey left the restaurant in the middle of our meal with an entourage of friends without transitioning the table to another wait staff member. Our table was left without service from no one working for the restaurant for 30 minutes after Trey left. I invited several guest for breakfast on the morning of April 2, 2016 and we all suffered the same bad experience with the barbacoa and Machacado con Huevo tacos and poor kitchen and wait staff service. I was embarrassed to have made the recommendation to eat at El Chaparral but as a dinner regular, I am hopeful things will improve next time around.

My husband and I went for breakfast (a little after 10:00. I ordered the Carne guisada plate and by the way the waiter said I was ordering the lunch plate. So I saw a couple that were served the chips and salsa and we asked for some. The waiter denied us because he said that the couple were special because they knew the manager. We couldn t have any because it was a rule there till 11:00 not to give out the chips and salsa. They sure know how to make a person feel like your not important even though we are paying customers. Not to mention my parents eat there every Sunday regularly for years. Are they special enough for chips and salsa? Well we canceled our order and left. You dont need our money its not special enough. I did call to speak with the manager to let her know what the waiter said and she did apologize stating that she did not know the people who got the chips and salsa. Not sure if I believe that. It may seem silly but its not the stupid chips and salsa its the way we were made to feel by saying other people were special and they couldnt break the rules. Only for that couple. I dont need to be made to feel like someone else is better than me. I will never go there again. And by the way if I ordered a lunch plate, I should have been given some chips and salsa what a rediculous rule.

(last sunday)At first impression based on the amount patrons I felt my family and I were in good hands and were on the road for a good meal. I noticed right away that something was wrong when my wife made a special request from the childrens menu to add an extra chicken strip to the meal. Missing her chance to upsale and earn her and her restaurant some extra sales by stating we dont do that. So I asked her since our kids are very hungry can you out that order in so they can eat soon. She agreed and walked away. She came back with some complementary charro beans took our order. kid food came and the ate. An hour later after no drink refills and we asked about our food, she came back and stated that they are waiting on one more order. I then tried to order some ice cream for my kids because they were getting restless. I was told that a this "family restaurant" has no ice cream for kids. We waited longer and got frustrated when we say the family next to us arrive after us get their food and leave. We got up asked for our bill only for a manager to leave and never to return. I finally asked the hostess how much did it cost for a kids chicken strip meal and she told me she is not required to know the prices. I left $10 never to return. We drove down to arbys by our house for a sandwich.
